A Tale of Two Cities is referenced periodically. I seem to recall Miss Spaulding mentioning it on occasion, and after I was banned by mistake last fall, I set my custom title to 'Recalled to Life' for a while when it was lifted.

I'm not sure if Mini wants to keep our very selective book club restricted to females members only. If we open it up to males, you can definitely join. Anyone who buys a fridge magnet with a Jane Austen quote on it, deserves admittance:)

And may or may not have a crush on Christina Rossetti... we'll not get into that one... :p Besides, I thought you were the one who brought up forming a book club. No worries, though... I'm too slow a reader. ^_^

Haha, true, I did come up with the idea. In that case, you are now an honorary member.

Book clubs should be full of people who love books, the more the merrier :sohappy:

I agree. So who should we add to this illustrious club? We already have Hawthorne. Andy reads Tolstoy, so he is definitely in. Any suggestions?

Best date ideas are based on the woman I will be wooing.

After all, she ISN'T a woman I have taken a date on before.... so..... she wont necessarily like things previous dates have.

If the lady likes cars, we would hit up a car show or a race track.

If she likes butterflies, take her to an exhibit with a ton of butterflies.

etc.

date idea
we go to a French café and bakery
way over priced but the food is to die for
then we go to the Bookloft, a crazy book store that is a renovated old hotel FILLED with books (not recommended for the claustrophobic)

I am claustrophobic to a degree but this still sounds like a cool idea.

Ok I need to insert my two cents now lol.

I think my best date idea ever was buying a bunch of chocolate and sharing it at the park. If you ever date someone who likes chocolate, do that haha.

I also love carnivals, especially if they have places you can sit and eat snow cones and talk. Coffee shops are nice, except coffee makes me SO hyper I scare people away.

I CANNOT do eating on a first date. I hate eating in front of people. It feels awkward. Once I get to know them I am okay with it, but until then it is just plain awkward and weird.

I'm a bit this way. I'm ok with eating something snack-ish, like a snow cone, but not a burger! Lol.

Maybe not as a 1st date, but I thought of taking a girl on a run date. Thereby gauging her cardio-respiratory fitness or lack thereof.

Haha, I think you might have even less takers than MehGuy. Most people hate running.

Seriously.... given the choice, I would rather be murdered in MehGuy's basement than go for a run.

So... is that a 'no' to the spelunking then?

Yes of course tacos are a must.

If she doesn't like tacos then she will never make them and that would mean marriage is out of the question. Toro can not go a lifetime without tacos.

Not even for love. :|

It's not an even trade, tacos win every time.

I went to a cafe' on my first date. Not too fancy and not too cheap for a first date.
movies are always a good start for first dates and going to dinner. If I were dating someone now I would want to go somewhere fun like ice skating or something like that... and be sure I'd bring a sweaterrrrrrr:bbrr:

As much as that might be a very fascinating experience, I'd have to decline. My palms get sweaty just thinking about it. I have gotten better at controlling my mind and relaxing my breathing, but that would be tough. I was so bad when I was young, that I'd panic if I was in a tight space for even a minute or so. I'll never forget when my two male cousins thought it would be hysterical to lock me in the big sliding laundry drawer (at my aunt's house). Their plan was to only keep me in there for a few minutes (after they had convinced me that they had left the room and abandoned me, lol), but the drawer got jammed and they couldn't get me out. Let's just say, I made a lot of noise! My aunt was not impressed. That was a pretty traumatizing holiday:)

Awwwww poor little Yankee Girl. This is why everyone needs a bull near by. If I cant destroy something to get someone free then Im just not using my God given talent of destroying stuff for the good of mankind.

I can destroy anything, usually its accidental. When its purposeful I find the weak point and ATTAAACK!!!

Sadly, its not very often I get to destroy and it be a productive destruction. Usually I just try to look at something and it falls apart. :(

Haha, thank you. I could have used your services that day. The problem is that I've always been too gullible for my own good. I seem to walk right into pranks and jokes. It's just too easy and tempting for people, lol. As I recall, the drawer incident was partially my own fault. My aunt had given us all instructions not too fool around with her cabinetry. They did trick me into climbing into the drawer, but I was a little mischievous for being there in the first place, lol.

Right now I'd totally go for an invitation to see Minions.

Mission accomplished. :D

I don't think he'd murder you, just disable you. ;)

I'm tempted to buy a plane ticket to see that place. Two of my favorite things in life: old hotels and books.

Well, my family would LOVE you then.

My family is full of pranksters. Its why I have "a complex" about things. Im always looking for the prank. Always looking for the angle and skeptical of everything. :|

It doesnt mean I cant be happy.... simply means that my guard is rarely down. I think thats why the older I get. The more I enjoy my solitude and why a simple weekend at home is so much more enjoyable than a party. (Not to say I don't go out or party...... it just doesnt have to be an every weekend thing)

See? If you had a bull near by you go wondering off on one of these pranks and the bull would grab the back of your shirt to keep you from falling for it. :p

I should clone myself and sell me as a household item.

"Runs on 7-12 double decker style tacos. Tacos not included."
