The whole Boson Higgs thing that was announced a day back or so.....

I've seen many videos and keep trying my best to understand this new principle.

Apparently, they found something that has no mass at all. My brain can't even understand such a thought.
More bizarrely, it also gives everything else mass...

In layman's talk, did they just find the spiritual existence to all living matter?
No, there's nothing spiritual about the Higgs boson.

Are these researchers honestly close to finding God's unseen power?
No. Nothing discovered at CERN has anything to do with God's power, seen or unseen.

Including itself, right? Ouroboros particle would be a better name :D
It's a crazy, crazy particle. Plus it breaks symmetry!

That is, the symmetry of the picture :p

So why the continued research?

I've seen one video that said this was able to look back into time before creation ever existed.

If it's not spiritual, or something unseen that shouldn't exist, what can been done with such a thought?

From everything I've watched and read, I somehow feel that God might be really angry for trying to find Him.

I guess my simple question is, what is that point to prove this theory?

No scientist would say that.

Slightly confused with that sentence.

From everything I've watched and read, I somehow feel that God might be really angry for trying to find Him.

Why would he be angry with us for fining the Higgs boson?

To gain more knowledge about the universe we live in. Why do we need a point to learn?

You are trying to mix the supernatural with the physical world. The Higgs Boson particle belongs to the physical world and has absolutely nothing to do with religion. Science strives to understand the physical world for obvious reasons; the very fact that you are using a computer to ask and debate with people all over the world is a testament to the erudition science has acquired through hard work and research!

For the sake of it - we discovered why particles have mass! For most scientists, that's reason enough.

I've seen one video that said this was able to look back into time before creation ever existed.
I wouldn't hold my breath :p

What can be done with the Higgs? Well, a better understanding of the nature of mass has a good chance of leading to all sorts of sci-fi technologies that involve manipulating mass at is fundamental level - inertial dampeners, near-luminal speeds for large objects, gargantuan engineering projects (and the trivialisation of small projects), the space elevator...

Think about the electron. When it was discovered, no one knew just how integral it would become: our understanding of electromagnetism gives us... everything. Everything in the modern world.

Now just think what we can do with gravity...

From everything I've watched and read, I somehow feel that God might be really angry for trying to find Him.
1) Why would he be angry for us trying to find him? Isn't that what humans have been doing since the dawn of spirituality?
2) We're not trying to find God. We're trying to find the Higgs boson so that we can better understand the universe. I'm sure most scientists have a sense of the numinous in their work in deep physics, and some may even see it as a way to better understand God - but I'm dubious that any scientist thinks finding the Higgs boson is how we find God.
3) You might be conflating 'the God particle' for more than it is.

I guess my simple question is, what is that point to prove this theory?
See above. We search both for its own sake, and if that's not enough, you can capitalise on the potential technological leap.

Oh, I'm sure some artistically minded person could come up with a symmetrical chart including poor lonely Higgs! By the way, why is there only one slot for w bosons?

For the same reason there's only one slot for 'e leptons' - the chart only shows matter. Antimatter isn't included, or rather, it's implied. The W bosons are each others antiparticle, so 'W' is sufficient.

Oh. I didn't realise they were anti-each other. That makes much more sense! :o

Does anyone have some really good and entertaining YouTube channels that I could subscribe to that's related to physics?

Thanks ahead. :)
A very good site to use is: Physics Forum

This is a better place to seek info on matters of physics than Youtube. Youtube is full of wacky videos!

Thanks!

And yeah, I've seen weird videos like how to take a paper plate, tin foil, a penny, a usb cable and make it into a personal stereo system.

What? *lol*

Well, the only subscription I really have right now is
Kipkays Hacks, Pranks & How-to - YouTube

I was hoping to find a few more. :)
