  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Appealing to her base......

I asked for a citation supporting this assertion - "Sure, and Obama used almost the identical term to describe another African nation."

Senator Feinstein is not President Obama that video is a non-sequitur.

I missed the part where she calls someone's country a ****hole in that clip and I thought it was Obama that had supposedly used an "almost identical" slur against some African country.

Right, because a supermajority of Americans want their neighborhood flooded with Haitians. Makes sense....

If you flood your neighborhoods with Haitians, pretty soon you don't have America. You have Little Haiti. And the elites don't want us to have a say about that. So they're making a ruckus about Trump's profane word.

People forget that the president is running a nation, not a Salvation Army soup kitchen. He has a responsibility to see that the United States prospers, is protected from enemies, and is just. He is not supposed to discriminate against Americans because he has a soft heart for everyone in the rest of the world who admittedly would be better off they were here on our welfare rolls, treated for free in our emergency rooms, getting free education for their children although they have paid no school taxes, and so on.

And THAT is the kind of non-sequitur that is most unfair of all, but which does keep his base loyal. That base does notice the difference between a simple policy disagreement and vengefulness on the part of those who wanted the other candidate to win the November, 2016 election.

The world has long believed that the American president is de facto President of the World. This is wrong. I'm glad they don't like Trump, actually. Good, then keep your opinions to yourself too. He's our president. Don't like him? Mind your own, then.

What's wrong with Haitians?

Nothing is wrong with them. But Haitians and ALL immigrants bring much of what they are leaving behind. As a country we have to ask ourselves if we really want to be more like Haiti.

The new priest who said mass at the cathedral last Sunday is from Kenya. Great guy. I'm glad he's here.

I think its silly that whether we think the immigrant is nice or not matters to our overall policy.

You have to play the video backwards. She says "the average family will save $2,500 after the government, that can't manage its own money, try's to manage healthcare costs. And you can keep your insurance and even your doctor .....inaudible......666.......inaudible.......and we need to import more (D) voters with socialist ideology from......inaudible.....*********%#%#***+€<£%#|*****hole countries........but if they come we should help weed out the unfit at Margaret Sangers eugenic-clinic.......inaudible....rrrrrooooooooorrrrrrrrr! "

And America is degenerating in the direction of the failed Leftist regimes that immigrants are trying to flee! The Left sees them as future voters.

Bottom line is that immigrants should not be allowed to come here and compete for jobs (low skilled or high skilled) with Americans. This isn't allowed to happen in other countries. They protect their workforces, but America is supposed to be a dumping ground.
Why do you hate capitalism?

What was the term Obama used?

A variation of the "S" word Trump is accused of using. Spending 30 seconds using Google with Obama, Libya and the "S" word should yield the results you're looking for. That way I won't get a silly warning for using crude language.

But Obama was a democrat, there is a whole set of different rules for them.

Or maybe Obama was calling a particular crisis a poopshow, rather than denigrating the entirety of some poophole countries and their undesirable people.

As an aside, Trump's proposals for immigration reform are much more acceptable to Democrats than to Republicans.

As far as the first deal, that should be a no-brainer: DACA citizenship for wall money.

House Republicans do NOT want to discuss immigration reform the next afternoon, as Trump wants to do. IMHO, Trump is fine with a path to citizenship for the undocumented. His conditions have been made clear. Get rid of those here on a temporary basis (this is being done), more restrictions at the border, better checking of VISA overstays, having employers being responsible for hiring undocumented employees (e-verify), greatly limiting chain migration, eliminating the lottery system, and instituting a merit system for future immigration. The numbers totals can be debated, but these conditions probably have a support of large majority of Congress and the Senate. HOWEVER, these proposals do NOT have the support of a majority of Republicans in the House.

I suspect that we have a realistic chance that immigration reform will be passed this year or in 2019. The House Republicans stopped the legislation once before, but now this is a proposal of a Republican president.

If Trump used that language in this private conversation (some present say they don't recall him useing that specific term) then it was a really nasty thing to say about another nation. I would have no problem saying that about Kim Jong un's ruling apparatus (not the North Korean people). It was Dick Durban that made it public for political reasons. Wonder if Dick ever said anything privately that he wouldn't say publicly?
