I recall one time about 16, maybe 17 years ago....

Me and my then boyfriend went fishing with my mother her then boyfriend and my brother. My brother is very hyper so he and fishing don't mix! He was upset because he wasn't catching anything, while the rest of us were bringing in cat & bass.

He was getting frustrated and kept wanting to bring his line in and cast it out again. We kept telling him he has to leave it out there, but keep watch of the line in case he get's a bite.

Well, sure enough he felt a tug on the line. He was so pumped and excited. But we told him not to bring it in just yet, to wait until the fish had a good bite of the bait, then yank it back so the hook would snag in it's mouth. He was so excited thinking it was a big one, that he yanked back so hard that he pulled the fish straight out of the water, it came flying toward him and hit him in the face!!

We were all just cracking up! My brother was so excited. We all went over to look at the huge fish flapping in the dirt....it ended up being a small bluegill!! ^_^. My brother was so upset, he quit fishing after his "exciting catch". He just watched the rest of us bring 'em in.

It was so great! It was the highlight of our whole fishing weekend!

Ah yes-good ol' fishing stories. It's a unique experience every time you go (especially if it's with a young child).

yeah, that's probably the most rewarding part of fishing...is when you can take a child on a "fishers of men" ;) adventure.

I am definately an avid fisherman.
I go fishing most weekends and am also a moderator on a South Australian fishing site.
I don't eat much fish, mainly catch and release.
Have been enjoying shark fishing off the local beaches lately, but am happy catching anything.

I grew up in a family of five children. Dad put a fishing rod in our hands at a very young age. We all grew up to love fishing (deep sea and fresh water). As a kid, I used to pray that I had fishing dreams. They were the best. Born to fish, Kim:clap:

I have fished most my life. been told when I was born I was wearing a set of hip waders and had a fly rod in my hand. I am from the northern coast of California and grew up fishing the Eel, Mad, Klamath, Smith and other steelhead/salmon rivers. ALso spent a lot of time fishing the ocean, both off the rocks for cod, bass, perch, etc and trolling offshore for salmon.

Then during deer/bear season in the mountains between Eureka and Redding, would fish the lakes for trout.

Then bass/striper/whitebass/crappie/cats in the lakes in central CA when I got re-assigned back to CA when I was army (some of the best fishing is at the lakes on the different bases thu out the US). At Ft Hunter Leggit, CA - was catching 1 pound bluegills in one of the ponds and 2 pound crappie at the nearby lake. yep. aint no fish story either. I gots the photos...

Now I live in the bay area of CA and time to time get to do some shark fishing in south bay sorta near Oakland Intl Airport (love 6 gill and leapord shark!) and do striper and sturgeon up by the Mothball fleet and the islands in north bay.

yeah, I guess I are a fisher person.

I still live here! I lived on the Trinity River and now on Redwood Creek. Many of the streams and river-hot-spots are now closed. I guess we caught too many fish in the past. The ocean is still pretty good. I keep up my commercial beach fishing permit just to keep my vehicle access. Going night fishing soon (surf smelt). Can't wait for ocean salmon season to open. The stealhead haven't reached my area yet but all I will be able to do is look at them. :sorry:Hopefully one day it will change. The Trinity Alps lakes have been good to us. We go there every year. Steve and Emit do all the work! Wife and I just hold the lead ropes^_^

I use to surfish too on the North Jetty/Mad River beach for surf smelt with my A frame net and my uncle with a 4 wheel drive - sold them at 7 cents a pound back in the way early 70s. Use to hunt Friday Ridge, Grouse Mnt, etc - then up the Redwood Creek valley and hunt the Coyote Creek area. long time ago.

I went to Eureka High. borned and raised there.

I believe we have crossed paths before. We got into an argument as to where southern California began! I said Garberville and you said Guintoli. You won

I have been here since 53!..........................1953
I used to fish in Humboldt bay with Dupont spinners! sure can't do that now!

I love to fish. I live in Kansas so fishing is kinda slow right now (being winter and all) and what is even worse is that where I live we do not get any ice so ice fishing is out. I love to fish and catch about anything. It is the one topic that I feel very knowledgable (that is not spelled correctly) in. If anybody fishes around Kansas and have any questions I can try to answer them to the best of my knowlegde. I hope everybody has a great day.
