Annoyed, and know I probably shouldn't be, regarding Prayer Forum.

Sometimes I see some people on the prayer forum who often ask for prayers, yet as far as I can tell they rarely, if ever, post prayers, or respond to requests for prayers, for anyone else. My temptation is just to pass them on by and pray only for others. Really, that's what I usually do.

Someone talk me out of my attitude. Or, maybe it is best to pray mostly for those others? After all one only has some much time to post.

Perhaps, they have plenty of serious and big problems they hardly notice other people's problems which they think is a lot less serious than theirs.

It can be hard to think straight if you're chuck full of problems.

So yeah, it does happen, unfortunately. They may be in a very bad spot in life. All we can have is understanding.

When I get a request for prayer, or read of one, such as on these fora, I simply pray immediately.

Seldom do I say anything on line.

One thing about a request for prayer is it does show faith and often I think. Even the father who said to Christ

Mark 9:24 Immediately the boy's father cried out, "I do believe; help my unbelief!"
(The full passage story is very interesting and helpful)

Was showing some faith it seems.

Christ would help those with faith we saw, again and again.

I rarely do internet prayer forums.
This is actually a forum for giving advice, not really for commenting on one's own personal habits that do not respond to the request in the OP.

That's interesting. So maybe they are praying and we just don't know it. That would explain why we can see so many views, but very few prayers.

Excuse me, but I don't believe Monk Brendan's post was advice either, but also a comment. I'm not sure how you can glean any "advice" from his post.

Your error is thinking people must type a prayer or click the prayer reaction. True prayer is more than typing words and clicking buttons. I will never type a prayer, and rarely will I tell the whole world that I'm praying by typing that I'm praying, but I often pray for people who I see ask for prayers online.

The advice, between the lines, was "Even if they don't show any prayer icons or type any prayer, they could still be praying. I myself pray without leaving a track. Therefore, don't assume anyone is not praying."

Well, you are the 2nd person to alert me to what should have probably been obvious in the first place: No visible track of prayers does not mean there were no prayers.

Hi, I usually pray for all who have requests. On certain requests, I click on the praying hands to let the person know that someone is praying for them. They can see who is if they want.

I generally only post a prayer when I am led by the Holy Spirit to write a specific prayer. If He leads me to include a scripture, I do.

Bottom line is I try to be sensitive to the Spirit....

I have to say that when I read the prayer request, I just pray I don't think I have clicked the prayer icon or if I did it wasn't often because I don't remember.

Adding to what I have said I think I will now click on the icon as someone previously posted so the person asking for prayer is aware that we are praying for them.

Wow. You pray a lot. Now I have another problem, guilt that I don't pray that much myself. lol (Well, I do kind of offer up some quick prayer for all posting prayers on the Forum that day. )

It has been interesting and encouraging hearing from people who have been praying, even if one doesn't know about it.

"first of all" > 1 Timothy 2:1-4 > prayer for "all". This does not mean you must write out prayer for such people, but Jesus wants us to bless those, even who curse us.

I used to save my praying for the end of the night, but too much gets left out. I pray throughout the day now, and if someone sees me with my head bowed it may be a good conversation starter

I don't know why, but this reminded me of a parable I heard recently that I think I can paraphrase:
A snake was burning in a fire.
A man came and reached into the fire to save the snake. The snake bit the man.
The man found a stick and used it to get the snake out of the fire, burning himself in the process.
"Why did you save that snake after he bit you?"
"It's in his nature to bite. It's in my nature to help."

I never heard that story with the last line you have there. The way I always heard it, it was a cautionary tale, reminding people to not pick up human snakes. There are real snakes out there in human form! The Savior told us clearly that the devil has planted demon seed in this world and that they will go into the fiery pit in the end. I don't think He wants us picking up and trying to rescue snakes that can never be helped, but love to do harm. Instead, He wants us to put our energies where they will do some good, as with non snakes.
