I stated in the post that i used the cameras auto focus setting for the day photo and when i could not get the camera to auto focus at night i tried the manual focus setting. But still the same zoom setting was used 125mm.​

I understand that. For some reason your camera overrode your zoom setting, so maybe take a couple of photos each time and check the metadata in the results to confirm it used the setting you chose.

I appreciate the effort you are making.

When there is clear weather again, i will use the manual focus setting for both photos. Since auto focus will not work, unless i zoom in real close at night.

What is the maximum optical zoom you can use before digital zoom kicks in?

I was just putting a simple point to flat earthers that a disk world will not work with our understanding of gravity, mass, rotation and the sea.
It is fine to come up with another hypothesis as to the shape of the earth but it has to make sense at the simplest level.

Gravity and its source is fundamental to the orbiting of the earth around the sun, the observation of the other planets and their moons. It has been studied for centuries and accurate predictions made regarding comets and meteorites. If the relationships were not correct they would not align with the calculated paths etc. or confirmation of the lengrange points where the JWST telescope currently is. Just the JWST project demonstrates how space works, getting a telescope down to almost absolute zero to be able to take high resolution photographs in infra red.

The idea this is all fake, with thousands of scientists all over the world who freely choose to study the facts, is enough to say the earth is a globe.

I do like though casting doubt on ideas and then building them up again, just to check we are not stupid and have made a simple mistake.
Now anyone can invent their own conclusions but that is not science that is meta physics, which is also an equally important aspect of life.

This is why flat Earthers typically claim that gravity doesn't exist.

They instead tend to insist that it's all a matter of density, as if that makes any kind of sense. Things that are more dense fall down through a less dense medium (like air) because reasons. Reasons that have nothing to do with gravity. Good luck getting them to realize that there has to be a reason that the more dense object falls in a particular direction.

I'm not sure what that was supposed to show. I know the size of the overall images, my question was regarding the size of the moon in each photo, which your above post does not show. I had asked to determine whether or not you had actually measured the moon in each photo or if it was a purely subjective statement. It was all moot anyway once I determined that your camera had used different zoom for each photo.

You asked how many pixels, so i posted the resize setting i used so i could post the photos to the thread. I reduced both photos down to 150.00 resolution from the original photo size of 300.000

Here is the original size taken from the camera and put on my computer. I did not crop any of the photos, i just reduced them down in size. So i used no digital zoom. Just the zoom setting on my camera at 125mm.

If there is any difference, it may be in the fact that i had to manually focus on the moon at night. I wanted to be able to use the auto focus setting for both shots, to remove any factor of manually adjusting the camera. But the lighting at night will not work with auto focus.

Digital zoom only comes into play when i zoom in on a photo on my computer and crop the zoomed in area.

So in those photos i could have zoomed in on either photo on my computer and made the moon larger. But to do that i would have had to crop the photo and resize it, example below. That is the way i understand digital zoom. It can be done from the camera, but i never use the camera for this. I always put any photographed image on to my computer to adjust sizes or crop. Neither one of the posted photos i posted last night was cropped, just resized/reduced so i could post to the thread.

Like this photo one has been cropped and is larger that the other, so i have used digital zoom with my computer.

Why would all of the planets that can be seen from a telescope be spheres 8n our planet be flat? Is it that our eyes using a lens cannot tell if a planet is round or flat? Do people really believe that we have no cameras in outer space? The wallpaper on my iPhone shows a real-time image of the Earth. Are they just lying to literally billions of people? We've landed on the moon, we have landed on Maes, and we have telescopes taking pictures of planets that are millions of miles away. I truly don't understand how people think that is fake when there is footage of the launch and its whole flight path with super-advanced telescopes attached to the spacecraft. It's like how can you breathe with your head buried so deep in the sand? It is truly a species that we have evolved from that can't comprehend a rocket. Come on, don't you flat Earthers know how ridiculous you sound denying real-time footage? Someone help me out here. How do these people work, drive cars, and are capable of cooking themselves something to eat when they can't grasp reality?

The problem is that they believe they DO live in reality, and everyone else doesn't. SMH....

I once had this feeling of knowing something that everyone else had missed.
It gave me a sense of belonging and being free.

If in ones life you are the bottom of the pile, cast aside, put down, not given attention, grasping at flat earth realities is a kind of side step to belonging to something different, and regaining ground in ones life. And the more you gain status and affirmation of ones position, the emotional glow grows.

We all have this about little victories in life, goals achieved, points made. I think these folk have found a place not matter how remote that makes them happy. My wonder is what happens when this evaporates?

I have no knowledge of the computer information you are asking about metadata. My knowledge of computer technicalities is non existent. I turn on a computer and can take images from my camera's card and load them to my computer. Where i will take them and keep in a jump drive that i keep plugged into my computer, for when i may use photos, mostly for painting references.

All i can say is the last post #828 i made with the two photos. These photos were as they came off my camera and transferred to my computer, i have not resized them as shown in post #824.

Sorry i can not be of any more technical help than i am, but my computer technical knowledge is limited to searching the internet and storing photos and music on jump drives and external hard drives.

I am wondering if this metadata is connected with the Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2. That i use to reduce photos sizes, which i use to post photos to christian forums. It takes a while for a photo to upload to christian forums from my computer at full size, so in the past i usually reduce the original photo down from 300.000 Pixels/inch to usually 150.00.

Yeah, I've noticed that. I guess I wanted to vent. Let them live in their own world. It doesn't really hurt anyone besides those who buy into it. Even then, it just harms how they are perceived by the real world. I don't think they are doing any physical damage to anyone. I probably just need to stay out of threads like this but sometimes it's so hard to NOT tell people that they are living in a delusion. Like you said though they are living in their reality and I would be the delusional one believing our world is a sphere when every other planet that can be seen via telescope is a sphere.

Yes indeed. It is also a divisive issue that has no bearing whatever on salvation. Division in the church is toxic. God's blessing is where there is unity.
