i was reading Proverbs (and listening to this guy read it) and there it was. It stopped me dead in my tracks. I put the guy on pause and read it again, and yes, there it was, another "key".

"Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God." ~Proverbs 2:3-5

Here, shining like a Lamp unto our feet and a Light unto our path, is another "key" in the study of the book of Job, and this man God defined as righteous and why He described Job this way.

That reminds me of this Hebrew site I found sometime back :angel:

Biblical Hebrew Poetry

Approximately 75% of the Tenach (Old Testament) is poetry. All of Psalms and Proverbs are Hebrew poetry. Even the book of Genesis is full of Poetry. There are several reasons the Hebrews used poetry, much of the Torah was sung and was easier to sing too, poetry and songs are easier to memorize than straight texts, Parallel poetry (as in Genesis 1) emphasizes something of great importance, as the creation story is.
The rabbis believed that if something is worth saying, it is worth saying beautifully." There is much more poetry in the Bible than most realize because most people do not understand it.

Parallelism is most commonly found in the book of Psalms and Proverbs but is found throughout the whole of the Hebrew Bible. Parallelism is the expression of one idea in two or more different ways.
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path". (Psalms 119:105)

The above example of a simple parallel and can be written in this manner;
Your word is;
1. a lamp to my feet
2. a light for my path

Here we see that the words "lamp" and "light" are paralleled as well as the words "my feet" and "my path". Below is another example of this style of poetry.

"My son, my teachings you shall not forget and my commands your heart shall guard." (Proverbs 3:1)

In this verse the words "my teachings" is paralleled with "my commands" and "you shall not forget" is paralleled with "your heart shall guard" and can be written as follows.
My son;
1. my teachings you shall not forget
2. my commands your heart shall guard

the more that you ask about keys, the more that I am reminded about the parable where God grants the ladies request just so that she will stop bugging him.

hahaaaaaaaaa how politely you put that sir. You, sir are a gentleman.

Got any thoughts on the "keys"? :D

The Widow Who Struggled Until Justice Was Done

A Parable of Jesus

Luke 18:1Then Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray always and not to lose heart. 2He said, "In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor had respect for people. 3In that city there was a widow who kept coming to him and saying, 'Grant me justice against my opponent.' 4For a while he refused; but later he said to himself, 'Though I have no fear of God and no respect for anyone, 5yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will grant her justice, so that she may not wear me out by continually coming.'" 6And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long in helping them? 8I tell you, he will quickly grant justice to them. And yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?"

I thought that that was going to be the key.

Job kept on vexing God with his demands too, until God finally got peeved enough by the constant whining to open up to Job and makes his judgment.

The keys to justice are the ones you keep poking into God's ribs until he gets riled enough to start dealing with your complaint.

That's an excellent example of persistence in seeking justice. Thank you for sharing it.

In reference to Job. Was he whining?

To the extent that whining is one smidgen away from cursing, I would say yes.

Whining, persistence, perseverance; they are all different ways of saying pretty much the same thing as far as behavior goes. The main difference is pretty much in the eyes of the beholder who has to deal with it, and in the inferior status of the one who whines to the one to whom he is whining.

My keys inevitably relate to themes rather than words.

There is an irreverence in Jesus comparing praying to God to petitioning an evil judge. The same kind of irreverence to God is hard not to find in Job. It is hard not to see the role God plays in this story as bordering on evil, making bets on Job cracking.

But if even an evil parent will give in to his children, how much more will that be the case with the one who loves us perfectly.

Anyway I see the same persistence in Job's insistence as in the persistence that your persistence into trying to find those key words that will open up doors to deeper understanding.

That is all I meant by that. Your behavior reminded me of one of the keys.
