  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Profane to Divine: Does God Drag You Through the Church Doors—or Do You Drag Your Feet?

Brothers and sisters in Christ, Picture this: Six days drowning in the profane—work, worries, world. Then Sunday dawns, and God Himself yanks you across the threshold into the divine sanctuary. One shepherd nailed it: “We move from the profane into the divine.” But here’s the rub: It’s not...

    The Law of God

I find it perplexing that so many people relate the Ten Commandments as the law of Moses when the Law itself has nothing to do with Moses, but has everything to do with our relationship with God. God’s name (not Moses) is in each one of these commandments and He takes ownership of them not just...

The Sabbath is more than just a day of rest; it is the sign of God's covenant and His seal of authority over His people

The Sabbath is more than just a day of rest; it is the sign of God's covenant and His seal of authority over His people. The Bible repeatedly states that the Sabbath is a distinguishing mark between those who acknowledge God as Creator and those who do not. This sign of loyalty is central in the...

On the Celebration of the Sabbath in Liturgical Churches

The SOP (the rules) for this forum make an important point: “Although the Law of God is pleasing to a believer it is not a necessary requirement for salvation. (Psalms 119:174; Galatians 3:10, Galatians 5:18)” Thus, whereas it is the case that the Eastern Orthodox and other denominations such...

God or man: According to the biblical Sabbath, who gave us the date line?

Brothers and sisters, since writing my book, which is on my website, I have gathered more evidence about the true Sabbath in the Bible in the story of the manna, and in the book of Hebrews, chapter 4. Since my recent experience sharing my book at work and having someone buy it at the Apple...

The Sabbath – the fourth of the Ten Commandments

The seventh day Sabbath is God’s gift to humanity. It was blessed and sanctified by God after He had created the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them. It was written into the Ten Commandments by His finger, was kept, and taught by Jesus Christ, and was observed by the apostolic...

Jesus perfectly complied with the Law of God - Perfectly fulfilled the Law of God

Rom 8:4 The Law of God "fulfilled IN US who do NOT walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. " Ex 20:7 "do not take God's name in vain" -- perfectly complied with by Christ in the New Testament Ex 20:12 "Honor your father and mother" -- perfectly complied with by Christ in the...

    Why the Sabbath shines brighter

Someone had mentioned EGW and her comments on that the Sabbath shined brighter than all of the other commandments. I was listening to Walter Veith who explained in detail why (better than I do) and it makes perfect sense. The reason the Sabbath shines brighter it is the only commandment that...

    Three Questions about God's Law

Are God's Ten Commandments good or bad for mankind? If good -- then what day of the week does the Sabbath Commandment of Ex 20:8-11 refer to ? Why is Sunday often kept instead of the 7th day of the week? ====================================== Ex 20:10 "The seventh day is the Sabbath of the...

Why did Jesus instruct a healed man to break the Sabbath?

This is what the Lord says: Be careful not to carry a load on the Sabbath day or bring it through the gates of Jerusalem. Do not bring a load out of your houses or do any work on the Sabbath, but keep the Sabbath day holy, as I commanded your ancestors. Jer 17:21 (NIV) Then Jesus said to him...

    The Ten vs the 603

A basic understanding of some of the differences between the Ten Commandments and all the other requirements, statutes and judgments (the 603) is needed in order to understand what was done away with at the cross. 1A. The Ten Commandments were spoken by God. Exodus 20:1 "Then God spoke all...

Voddie Baucham sermon - "Why Keep the Sabbath Holy?"

Pastor Baucham got his M.Div from Southern Baptist Theological seminary. "In March 2022, Baucham confirmed that he had been asked to accept a nomination for president of the Southern Baptist Convention, but noted that as an overseas missionary, he was not sure if he was eligible" Interesting...

    Sabbath verses in Chronological order

Hello all, When I studied the 7th day Sabbath one thing I investigated was *WHEN* was the Sabbath observed. My reasoning was that if it started at Mt Sinai and ended at the cross you would see that reflected in a timeline. I did not find any such of an investigation so I made one. Here is my...

    Spiritual vs Physical

The spiritual rest that Jesus supplies doesn't overturn the physical rest which He also supplies in His once a week Sabbath rest. Compare the following two passages and consider the three color-coded elements and then see if you can answer the related questions: Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all...

Is there another "day" of rest still to come?

Brothers and Sisters, those with Joshua who "first heard" the "good news" of how to enter the Sabbath and were not allowed to enter by oath for 40 years in the desert near the Promised Land, did not enter the "day" of rest during those 40 years, which Joshua later entered at an earlier time than...

Exodus 20:8-11 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor...

A Beautiful Sunset ~ Perfect Way to Bring in the Sabbath

We took a walk at the lake last night, and watched the sunset. It was very cloudy and only one little place where there were no clouds....and wouldn't you know it, that is where the sun popped thru! Watching the sunset on a Friday, is our favorite way to welcome in the Sabbath :).

Why wasn't the Sabbath a law in Genesis? Its mentioned right at Creation.

Yet we don't see it implemented into law until Exodus, the 10 Commandments. Or was it assumed before Exodus and done automatically by God fearing people back then? I found it odd to do a word search for sabbath in Genesis and find nothing.
