Did you see the second sentence? I will make it bold:

So those requirements were not created by Mamdani, and have been there for previous mayoral administrations.
This is just another case of false outrage by the right. It shows the desperation of the right.
You have to have a birth certificate for all sorts of things, from enrolling in school to getting a driver's license. Other forms of ID include bills with the person's name confirming the address. Allowable forms of ID vary, though Real ID may have uniform requirement. The point is that most already have this means of verification.
It's Democratic Mayor Adams, and mayors before him. It was set up to hire people so they need that SS card, and ID for W2 and being on the employment roles.
