• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I was reading Romans 1e yesterday and came upon the part about condemnation. does this mean people can go to hell for breaking the law? Or does it mean earthly punishment I am trying not to worry about it, I try to keep the law
This sounds like another manifestation of your OCD.... :)

The more I read Romans 13, the more I become convinced that the part that made nervous was referring to anarchy. Because when I panic over verses I frequently visit BlueletterBible to look for clarity and I found that the word used for resist means to "oppose or range against"
So I think Paul is saying that attempting to range against the institution of authority is wrong and in the next verse Romans 13:3 Paul gives his readers ways to not fear the government other than anarchy. If I recall correctly there was a group of christians back then who wanted no authority over them because they figured thats the only way they could practice Christianity freely.
I think that those two verses while related are referring to two different things, I think the first is referring to the incorrectness of anarchy and the secobd about how to live with no fear besides anarchy. I have no desire to oppose the institution of authority, so I don't have to worry about going to hell over failing to keep every man made law right? I do try my hardest.
Jesus' blood has washed me clean but sometimes it serms like the bible is saying I must do things to keep my salvation.

It sounds like you are answering all your own questions! I understand what you mean, though...OCD does often give us an exaggerated fear of hell, and we tend to latch onto certain things that we feel will bring judgment on us. I think it's all about learning how to have a balanced view of things - to recognize both God's love and His justice, without stressing one over the other too much. That's really hard to do when we have OCD though...we tend to skew toward His judgment too much, at least for certain things.
