How many gifts of the Spirit are mentioned in the Bible, and which ones are still operating today?

And discuss.

Everything Christ did is the gift of the Spirit.

At base, every human should be able to do what He did - which is why He said don't marvel at what He did. He even said we would do greater exploits which is not to say we will be better than Him, it is to say what the Word of God did as "miracles" is what the images of the Most High God should be doing at base. If we have an iota of faith, raising the dead and healing the sick is the least we can do. We are made in the image of the Most High God.

The gifts of the spirit are in operation to this day.

Since the Bible has been around for 1,700 or more years, please find a verse or verses as proof texts.

Ignoring the question aren't ya? The answer is no you don't know.

I don't read a book about football and then apply to be a coach.

Is this not basic common sense? Do you think you know how the gifts of The Spirit operate without them functioning in you? It's a little funny that you're claiming book knowledge is enough.

Your quote is exactly right, and one of my favorites,..

Joh 14:12 Truly, truly, I say to you the one believing into Me, the works which I do, that one shall do also, and greater than these he will do, because I am going to My Father.

A lot of folks try to say that this quote was for the apostles, but this translation brings out the greek article.

There is no disclaimer here. The works that Jesus did include those operations that GOD did through Him by the gifts of The Spirit.

There is nothing to prove since you haven’t proven using scripture that the Holy Spirit teaches through experiences.

The proof is on you that your claim is even valid.

The fact is, God says that His ways are not our ways. So claiming the Holy Spirit acts in a certain way, just by your stating it is not valid.

Did the apostles operate in the gifts of The Spirit or did they read about them?

Did Cornelius and his household read about the gift or operate in them?

Whole heap of experience our Lord and His disciples went through. I'm sure Paul wrote about the gifts without operating in them, right?

Maybe your confused about what the verse says, because the works Jesus did are different than the gifts of the Spirit.

Scripture says what it says.

I’m still waiting for the verses.

If they don’t exist then admit you were incorrect

No that is because you don't understand that section of scripture. Jesus is our perfect example in our Christian walk. And He stated that the one believing in Him would do the works that He did, well that includes healing people, speaking words of knowledge and wisdom, operating in the gift of faith, etc.

No Christian can do these things if they do not follow Jesus and His example of receiving The Holy Spirit after their water immersion. That is the only way you receive the gifts.

I'll have to move out of this since I don't want to get baited by individuals and reported.

Arguing that book knowledge is all you need for your Christian walk is quite funny, but hey, if that is all you want, GOD will accommodate you.

Indeed.

The Word of God debased Himself as a Son of Man; He refers to Himself with this moniker several times in the canon and Gnostics. So, Son of Man - just like us who are eligible to be born again - did those exploits with the full authority and providence of the Holy Spirit of the Most High God.

He showed us a Son of Man can be Perfect under the Most High God, and be the full base of the image of the Most High God if we have just a bit of faith/trust in the Most High God. These "gifts" are woven in the images of the Most High God; He brings them to light as per His will. The Word of God trusted His Father to do this, which is why He was able to do exploits.

But He also told us that the very showing of those gifts show the radiance of the Holy Spirit in us. Because, at base we should do these exploits! Loving, patience, healing, casting out demons, etc. That is what a Son of Man should be able to do at base because we are a holy people!

Our mental dampening of

1) who our Father is
2) what we are capable of because of Him
3) what is expected of us, and
4) how a bit of faith/trust unites us with our Father
5) fear (having the form of godliness but denying the power within)

is what keeps many us from seeing this war for what it is, and how well equipped we are.

Arguing that God’s Word is book knowledge is frightening.

You be blessed and maybe ponder reading God’s Word a little more.

Bless your soul, maybe ponder living the word instead of just reading it.

You must be searching to be offended to find that an insult..
If two people discuss landing on the moon
But only one of them has done so.then to the one who has done so much of the info will be basic knowledge.
The other has no place to be offended
Unless thier motive is not to learn but rather to be beligerant.

So if this was said to you from the opposing viewpoint, you would not take offense? I find that hard to believe.

God is still I AM..therefore all of God is as you say "still operating". He doesn't change...and who cares about numbering gifts.

The study of certain gifts ceasing is something that is revealed to a believer based on looking at various verses and the real world (Which I am willing to share later). While God always has the gifts Himself, whether He shares certain gifts with every believer through out the whiole of time is up to Him.

As for numbering the gifts:

God is very much into numbering things within His Word. So I would say God would care about the number.

People have already said how may distinct gifts are mentioned... However, are there not an almost infinite number of parts to a body?

Well, the gifts for the believer are not infinite. We are not God.

As for the numbering of the gifts mentioned in different ways in the Bible:

I don’t think this kind of numbering would be meaningless to God. God numbers many things within His Word and gives an ascribed meaning to those numbers (So as to glorify His Word; And not as a means to use these numbers so as to run our lives by them and or neither to predict the future, either).

Not true. Jesus not only operated by the Spirit, but He also operated by the Father, too (See John 14:10).
While Jesus suppressed His divine power of Omniscience (i.e. To know all things), He also had power as God during His Earthly ministry, too.

Jesus had power as God.

#1. Jesus said He has power to raise the dead to life just as the Father had power to raise the dead (John 5:21).
#2. Hebrews 1:3 talks about how Christ held all things together by the word of His power when He purged us of our sins.
#3. Jesus said, He would raise up this Temple (His body) three days later (John 2:19).
#4. Jesus had the power to forgive sins and give eternal life (Mark 2:7) (Luke 7:44-50) (John 14:6).
#5 Jesus had power to take away the sins of the entire world (John 1:29).
#6. Jesus Christ said wherever two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them (Matthew 18:20). This was said to the people he was around and not to just us today.
#7. Jesus knew men's thoughts (Matthew 9:4) (Matthew 12:25) (Mark 2:8) (Luke 5:22) (Luke 6:8) (Luke 9:47) (Luke 24:38).
#8. Jesus knew about the lives of others (John 2:24) (John 4:17-18) (John 4:29) (John 6:64).

For Jesus is the second person of the Godhead or the Trinity.
The fulness of the Godhead dwelled within Him bodily (Colossians 2:9).
For God was manifest in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16).
