I would expect this to happen. When people see pictures of dead children and children suffering they become disgusted and angry. They want someone punished. Trump took action against those believed to be responsible.

The RCP poll number is the average of a good number of polls. Rasmussen has always had Trump at least five points higher than the average. He's just a hair above 41% in most polls.
Which is still a pretty good bump from the high 30s, he had before.

RealClearPolitics - Election 2016 - General Election: Trump vs. Clinton vs. Johnson vs. Stein
Polls the week of election. Rasmussen to their credit only had Hillary up by 2. The average was winning by 3.3. The only one that turned out simi-accurate was IBD with Trump up 2. Rasmussen has always had more credibility than the average leftwing polls.

Sure thing - they correctly predicted Romney winning the election for example.
All of the polls you listed look like they hit within the normal margin of error. Don't cherry pick a single result as if it has any statistical meaning.

I still don't understand why people care about polls at this point. Between the fact that the methodology is obviously flawed and the fact that the next election is way too far off for it to matter at this time, it seems that a waste.

No doubt about, throwing a few bombs around can give your numbers an upward blip...but what's his follow-up...? Once the dust settles and this administration continues to display themselves as abject failures from week to week, as they stagger from one 'mispeak', to the next botched policy initiative, to the next embarrassing presidential gaff, to the next suspicious connection with an adversarial power...how long will it be before those numbers reach 'Bush 2008' territory...?

By dismantling the convention for those selections? By ensuring that judges will now only be appointed by the party in power? By polarising these judicial appointments as exercises in partisanship?
