from at least several different viewpoints, depending on how one interprets the results of unbelief in the face of existing evidence, and God's willingness to honor His promises to physical Isreal (which is to whom I presume you refer).

There's some predestination involved, maybe some prophecy (that they should become Jealous of spiritual Isreal (His Body) - I'd have to go to crosswalk and use their online concordance to find that scripture... and their is plenty of OT illustrations of their regressively obstinate unbelief and idolatry. Remember Aaron's golden calf, the brass serpent,... even himself Moses had problems enough to keep him out of The Promised Land.

I had some general questions about Judaism....

1) Why are Jews not convinced that Jesus Christ was the fullfillment of old testament prophecy?

2) What evidence do they have that he/she is still to come?

I talked to some Jews once and asked that question. They said that the OT is not describing Jesus but someone else whom they are still waiting for...I just said well, that man has already come.

They are waiting for a military/political leader who will unite Jews, rebuild the temple, reclaim the promised land and bring God's Kingdom on earth.

Of course Jesus did all of these things but they are expecting these things as literal things, for example a literal temple made of stone rather than the temple of flesh in Jesus' body.

They quote things like Isaiah's description of the messiah as not pointing to Jesus but to the whole nation of Israel. They deny the ressurection point blank, just as the Bible states:

Matthew 28:12-15

12When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, 13telling them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.' 14If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble." 15So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.
Here are two links worth reading, they have book references for further study.

This link is a Jewish website which claims Jesus is *NOT* the messiah: http://www.jewsforjudaism.com/

This link is another website from Jews (or so it seems) who claim Jesus *IS* the messiah: http://www.jewsforjesus.com/

I also recommend Josh McDowell's book "The new evidence that demands a verdict". He is a protestant author so keep that in mind ;)

Happy studying! :)

I don't think I care to read the Jews who claim Jesus is not the Messiah when I know He is. I'd just be wasting my time. The other is contraversial saying Jews for Jesus are Evangelical christians who are trying to force Jesus down the throats of these Jews. I really don't trust to read anything unless it has the two authorized Catholic Imprimatur and ISBL noting the book is true and authentic with the church. That's just the way I am.:)

I have concluded that Jesus is the Messiah. But if the temple was rebuilt and the sacrifices resumed then that information woud have to be factored in. On the other hand, if the temple site was nuked . . . .
I don't believe that would be a factor as I do not believe a "future temple" being built is any kind of factor.
I doubt if the LORD would allow a new Jewish temple anyway, as that is one of the things He freed them from, sacrifices. [my signature] :)

There are answers to those questions at this site:
http://www.jewsforjudaism.org/jews-jesus/jews-jesus-index.html

I imagine those would be the reasons that Jewish Rabbis or those who actually study the issue would give.
From my experience growing up as a Reform Jew, I don't recall hearing about the Messiah or fulfillment of prophesy very much if at all.
After I was saved, I asked my father, who felt like a failure in teaching me his religion and it was his concept, and probably the concept of some other Jews as well, that the "messiah" was not necessarily a person, but a time of peace and prosperity.
The concept of a person being God is quite foreign to the Jewish people. They have no clue why the Christians are praying to a dead Jewish man.
