  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh so mayorkas was telling the truth for three years? The border was closed...

Biden Harris would not close the border, and even denied it was open...So the border was closed why a need for any resources.

Until the primaries and they realized the significant problem it was for them.

Not all cheap labor from other nations is because of slave labor.

Well we pay way to much now due to inflation because it is being spent on illegal immigration.

He has tarriffs before. We were doing fine.
In fact didn't Biden/Harris keep a bunch of them in place?

Illegals don't hire themselves. Businesses employ them. And they've chosen them over you. That's your problem. They're not invested in you. Their priority is their bottom line and shareholders if applicable.

But you can't thwart them. So you pick on the little guy and blame them for your problems. You scream about the border because the truth is too unsettling. But if you'd face it head on you wouldn't be upset.

There's a systematic practice of prioritizing a group of people over the populace in this nation. They do it with the wealthy all the time. It happened with whites in the past. Now they're doing with foreigners.

You've seen this play before. Why are you surprised. Did they cease to care when the dream was threatened? Or did it occur when the income gap widened? Was it the influx of foreigners?

Perhaps they never cared at all and it wasn't evident until they touched your dignity. Now it's too hard to ignore. When he treated the rich man better he showed you who he was and you should have believed him. The refusal to do so is why everyone's mad. That was your sign.

I don't think anyone is arguing this. Pretty much we ALL agree with the businesses hiring illegals. We all would.live to put a stop to this and going after businesses would be a great start.
We aren't picking on the little guy. We are picking on illegals AND the businesses who hire them. It's a two fold problem.

Picking on them is a waste of time. They're not going to side against the place that provided an opportunity or assistance. Even if you disagree on its occurrence and legitimacy. They're not going to turn down employment that supports their livelihood. Even if you feel the law was violated and the jobs belong to citizens.

Your welfare isn't more important than theirs. Much like theirs isn't more important to you. You're at an impasse. You have to topple the one who put the whole thing in motion and those who profit from it most. Hence the government and businesses.

Isn't that what you guys want?
They should. Everything is upside down. Somehow their minds have become framed to bring in all the poor for immigration, Nuts. Yes, America is also a refuge for those escaping government oppression etc. They are confusing and fusing the two.

Nobody is picking on them. We are speaking of politicians that are causing this.

Exactly. They are using these people. it isn't a kindness.

What does this have to do with Border Czar Kamala's incompetence?
She doesn’t care about the country or it’s people. She only cares about power and popularity.

The lie is that we need them in the first place. This is ridiculous. The only reason we need them is because the jobs they have taken they have made the pay so low, Americans can't live on them. Raise the pay, you don't need all these workers. Just like they were doing before this started

That's an interesting perspective. I hadn't looked at it that way before; but it makes perfect sense.
Kinda like the concept of hey I am going to pay you 10,000. a month, come to my country and work for me. Most of us would say sign me up.
But then you find out it costs 20,000 a month to live there. It is all relative.

I don't think either care because it doesn't affect them. They're not flooding their neighborhoods or squatting on their property. They're not being accosted down the street or when they shop. Nor are their jobs at risk. It's easy to say you care when you have no skin in the game. If things go awry Trump will get on a plane as will Kamala and many others. They don't have to deal with the fallout. That's on the citizens.

However many immigrants bring thier own problems. Allowing illegals to flood the country brings problems from their third world into ours. They put a strain on our resources. They bring more drugs and violent gangs. They bring third world cultures. They bring more crime. They also take jobs from our citizens and lower wages.

Our welfare is more important in a societal context. If illegals are causing problems for the people in our society, our citizens, they should be removed. A two pronged process. Go after businesses and remove the rest.

Before you get too worked up, no they are not all bad people, criminals and gang members. But they come too when we allow these many in. I know some illegals and they are hard working people who cause no problems at all. I also know illegals who are gangsters and drug dealers.

We have enough problems with our own citizens it makes no sense to allow non-citizens in who add to the problems. This is why we need to shut tge border down and vet every person who wants in before they come in.

We need to institute a worker program where businesses can apply for guest workers if they can't find American ones. I have a few more thoughts on that which I won't say here.

But businesses should be find and face loosing their licenses for hiring illegals. But keep in mind not all illegals are here to work and be good citizens.

It's a fair question. How does he plan to accomplish a mass deportation? The obvious answer? He can't accomplish it! An impossible endeavor! He would need to initiate an army to go door to door and search every home in the USA, drag out people who don't have papers and throw them into a temporary facility until deported. Sound kind of familiar? We were here several times throughout history. Remember?
Additionally , we can count on complete chaos in the field of food harvesting first, where 70% of the industry are immigrants . Then the building industry, hospitality industry, restaurant industry etc., etc. What Americans fail to realize is the " backbone" of our nation relies heavily on immigrant labor. To think not is ignorant.
How quickly people forget that Trump was bashed for actually enforcing mass deportation during his first term. Did you forget about the "Abolish I.C.E." movement and why it became a thing? Trump was doing it before and I believe he will do it more aggressively during his second term.

Like getting the illegal Haitians out from Springfield! Oh wait, they are there legally, he just keeps calling them illegals. So when you claim that he'd "only" be going after illegals, how could I take that seriously?
With one swipe of a pen, Trump can make them illegal.

Here's a question: By in large, do the non-legally employed hotel staff receive the same pay? Benefits (if they exist)?

Yes. There was no 2 tier pay system in my wife's experience. Pay raises (for all), however, were a pennies per year (early 2000-2015 ish)

From my experience, what I seen is keeping the illegals down. What I mean is, they gain skills, then the feds come in and remove. New ones come in. So keeping them a constant beginners status. I do not know if that has changed, but was years ago when this first started. None of this is good. Legality is important for the benefit of everyone. As for the lower tier workers better equipped than management, that can happen with any business environment. To the point that latina in higher positions that are less skilled because they are latina.

My point was Hotel Sr managment was (and are) well aware that illegal workers are employed. The Trumps didn't fire their illegally employed workers until the WaPo ran several investigative pieces.

Trump decries illegal immigration while his own businesses exploited them.

I certainly hope so. He most likely can't get them all, but there are ways to get quite a few.

Yeah, that is why I said they get around E-verify....
Trump decries illegal immigration while his own businesses exploited them.
And so did the government INCLUDING LIBERALS. But NOW who wants to remedy this?
I have no clue if what your saying about Trump is true or not, but.....who is wanting to fix this????
Nancy Pelosi, flat out, We need them to pick our crops. And of course do our lawns, care for our children and clean our houses.... Similar to the south at one time...huh?

E verify should be a requirement for ALL employers. That would take care of a lot of issues. If the fine was hefty enough and rhe threat existed of loosing your business license.

I honestly don't count on Trump to fix this. He has to get past his own party and there is no way the democrats are going to support fixing this. Neither party has done anything to try and fix it.

The democrats have such a low opinion of anyone but their own elitist people.

Blacks can't succeed without their help. Brown people are only good for cleaning g rooms and gardening or picking crops.

While i honestly believe that black people can succeed greatly without my help and brown people are very welcome here as are any immigrant who comes legally and is vetted properly and doesn't lie to get in.
