  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump has repeatedly pledged to carry out the country’s largest-ever deportation operation after record-setting numbers of illegal US-Mexico border crossings under President Biden.

Polling shows that the idea has majority support among voters ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

A Scripps News/Ipsos poll released Wednesday found that 54% of Americans “strongly” or “somewhat” support the mass deportation of illegal immigrants, while 43% are opposed.

A CBS News/YouGov survey released in June found that 53% of Hispanic registered voters favor expelling all undocumented immigrants — and 50% support the construction of federal holding facilities to house them before deportation.

“Kamala Harris is out of touch,” said Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt.

It's a fair question. How does he plan to accomplish a mass deportation? The obvious answer? He can't accomplish it! An impossible endeavor! He would need to initiate an army to go door to door and search every home in the USA, drag out people who don't have papers and throw them into a temporary facility until deported. Sound kind of familiar? We were here several times throughout history. Remember?
Additionally , we can count on complete chaos in the field of food harvesting first, where 70% of the industry are immigrants . Then the building industry, hospitality industry, restaurant industry etc., etc. What Americans fail to realize is the " backbone" of our nation relies heavily on immigrant labor. To think not is ignorant.

Those are legal immigrants. He's going after illegal immigrants.
Yes it's going to be difficult, that doesn't mean we shouldn't try

He's just going after the criminals first... We have to get the gangs and cartels out first along with any terrorists and foreign actors.

Oh.. and the Haitians get free plane rides...

Once that's done we will deal with the rest somehow. Probably keep many, doubt there's much choice.

Like getting the illegal Haitians out from Springfield! Oh wait, they are there legally, he just keeps calling them illegals. So when you claim that he'd "only" be going after illegals, how could I take that seriously?

And another reason...https://itep.org/undocumented-immigrants-taxes-2024/
I'm surprised you would quote a right wing think tank like CIS but I am glad you see what is going on

Harris is justified in raising these questions.
Trump has yet to address how he would do it nor the implications.

“They have pledged to carry out the largest deportation — a mass deportation — in American history. Imagine what that would look like and what that would be,” the Democratic nominee told the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

“How’s that going to happen? Massive raids, massive detention camps?” Harris asked in an incredulous tone. “What are they talking about?”

DHS already prioritizes those with criminal records.

Do you even have a clue to the human suffering that has gone on and continues to go on when those borders were opened? Human trafficking, Child rape, murder. What is wrong with people???
They do not know today waht is happening to thousands of children. But your worried about this....
Have you seen the little children being dropped over the wall, leaving them there crying? Does that get on your radar at all?
Maybe some of those people being dragged out might be hurting and enslaving people including young children.
You all are worried about your field workers? This smackes of the south when they did not want to lose their field workers too.

Let's say Trump is able to deport 10-20 million people, what impact will that have on the following industries:

1) Construction - Housing
2) Food production. (harvesting, processing, etc)
3) Hospitality
etc

What is wrong with people? One thing that is wrong with people is that they have an instinctive fear of "the other" such that, before any facts are in evidence, disposes them negatively towards outsiders.

Another thing that is wrong with people is that they are not careful in evaluating evidence.

Let's consider this second point: what evidence do you have, and I mean credible evidence from credible sources, that the rate at which immigrants commit "child rape and murder" is any higher than for non immigrants?

That is not the subject of my post...

I didn't. Given the Cartels are who we are talking about here, this isn't about any of what you mention. You would not put any child under the total control of such individual's period. Since those to whom these kids go to to for further abuse ( outright bought or just rented), go to non immigrants. But the liberals seem to think this stuff is kindness, hospitality. While ignoring putting people in the control of Cartels. Geesh!

Didn't this already happen in these industries? Or do people not remember the Bush years?

Round up millions of people and you’re going to get some bad ones regardless of the demographic targeted.
