  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Curiously, Donald Trump has never spoken ill of companies who hire illegal immigrants. Maybe, that's because he was one of those companies....
I doubt that. He does not like illegal immigrantion. He wants legal immigrantion.

Insightful.

I will just use my vote to put in government that will do their Job. I don't want them, they are not doing their job.

You're living through a take down. You're not going to elect anyone that will change that. Because it's planned. You believe in your oppressor and he comes in both shades. Red and blue. It's an agenda.

They want to return to an age of gross inequity. I said four years ago they were mentioning the gilded age then it shifted to feudalism. The middle class didn't exist back then. They have to flatten things out.

I spend two to four hours every day on financial stuff. I know what they're doing because I follow the money and worked in the industry. They're not talking about the debt the states are grappling with because of this or the land grab they're about to pull off as a result amongst other plans.

There are days when I'm astounded by their audacity. But I never forget who I'm dealing with and that's the difference. I play their game. Not the one designed for the populace because it's rigged.

Believe what you wish. You'll see the truth eventually as will others.

I agree on the agenda. We disagree on the culprit.

The way I see it, you have to break one system to build another. Indeed the system is being taken down.

OSSINING, N.Y — They had spent years on the staff of Donald Trump’s golf club, winning employee-of-the-month awards and receiving glowing letters of recommendation.
Some were trusted enough to hold the keys to Eric Trump’s weekend home. They were experienced enough to know that, when Donald Trump ordered chicken wings, they were to serve him two orders on one plate.

But on Jan. 18, about a dozen employees at Trump National Golf Club in Westchester County, N.Y., were summoned, one by one, to talk with a human resources executive from Trump headquarters.
During the meetings, they were fired because they are undocumented immigrants, according to interviews with the workers and their attorney. The fired workers are from Latin America.

The sudden firings — which were previously unreported — follow last year’s revelations of undocumented labor at a Trump club in New Jersey, where employees were subsequently dismissed. The firings show Trump’s business was relying on undocumented workers even as the president demanded a border wall to keep out such immigrants.

Yep, undocumented labor is hard to detect sometimes. My husband told me when they came in, there was a heads up. The illegals did not show up for work. That is how they knew who was who.
He was shocked at some of the ones that were legal and illegal in the end.

What efforts did his administration make to enforce laws against companies who hire illegals? Supposedly e-verify was supposed to fix this a long time ago but companies go unpenalized year after year.

Trump talks the talk like any politician but corporations control politicians including Trump.

I'm not talking down to you. I've acknowledged they're lying, don't value your service and you're being taken advantage of. That's indicative of someone who can see another person's circumstances. My indifference isn't personal. I think the whole thing is a mess. But that's the result of a lack of vigilance. We didn't get here overnight. Now we're wrestling with the consequences of inattention.

You are welcome to your feelings and opinion. I won't debate that.

As for the other, we don't have to agree at all. If you're satisfied with your response to the situation that's fine. I shared an opinion as have others.

It did to a point. But it can be gotten around (ignore stuff).

Trump had the border closed. He wanted legal immigration based on merit. Their ability to get a good job and contribute. There is a novel idea.... Lost in todays thoughts on immigration. We are to the point it is all about economic refugees. That is how far off immigration has gotten. To Polticians work through other systems and agencies. No they don't and cannot control "systemic" corruption like that.

My spouse, who is a Latina, worked in the hospitality industry for 15 years. Hotel manamagement (at 5 star properties) knew better than half their staff were not legally employed.

From my experience, what I seen is keeping the illegals down. What I mean is, they gain skills, then the feds come in and remove. New ones come in. So keeping them a constant beginners status. I do not know if that has changed, but was years ago when this first started. None of this is good. Legality is important for the benefit of everyone. As for the lower tier workers better equipped than management, that can happen with any business environment. To the point that latina in higher positions that are less skilled because they are latina.

Sounds like an excellent argument for strong labor unions to prevent this kind of move by employers.

Middle America shouldn't have to change a perfectly fine system.

The employers running to third world countries for sub wage slaves in order to avoid hiring American citizens at quality pay shouldn't be paid for by the American tax payers. If they can't run their company paying market wages they can fail ..

This is not what our government is for. This is not good use of tax payer funds, elected leaders selling out the entire country and every single citizen in it by refusing to just do their job.

They are making us all slaves and no one manages to care.

I do believe I recall Trump, speaking of Merit to immigrate, to tech skills. Bringing in high skill, highly educated, of value to all to contribute economically. Maybe that is what started this dislike. Maybe it threatens the more tech savvy persons, highly educated?. None are replaceable came home to roost? The narrative switch to the concept of economic refugees.
Just speculation...

Middle America used to have unions as the norm. Now employers take advantage of employees. Unions are not the government they are the labor force fighting for themselves.

Here's a question: By in large, do the non-legally employed hotel staff receive the same pay? Benefits (if they exist)?

Additionally , we can count on complete chaos in the field of food harvesting first, where 70% of the industry are immigrants .
Immigrants or illegal immigrants. Of they are illegal then finding them should be easy.
He would need to initiate an army to go door to door and search every home in the USA, drag out people who don't have papers and throw them into a temporary facility until deported. Sound kind of familiar? We were here several times throughout history. Remember?
I don't think so. It could be done in other ways. If the US were to have laws that required that all social security holders had to be legal and all employers had to verify the legality of the social security holder or face heavy fines and perhaps their business licenses, that would assist. We just have to get creative with it. Make laws like illegals can't get driver licenses. That way every illegal that gets stopped can be arrested and deported.

Im not saying these are the best or only ideas. And certainly no.one will be able to go door to door or deport everyone in a year. This is going to be a multi year and require all the branches of governemnt effort. Go find all the expired visa people. Immediately deport everyone who fails their asylum claim. Limit the number of asylee claims.

There's a few ideas to start with. I'm sure smarter people than I can come up.with more.

Let's say Trump is able to deport 10-20 million people, what impact will that have on the following industries:

1) Construction - Housing
2) Food production. (harvesting, processing, etc)
3) Hospitality
etc
So.we need illegals to run these businesses? I don't think so.

What is wrong with people? One thing that is wrong with people is that they have an instinctive fear of "the other" such that, before any facts are in evidence, disposes them negatively towards outsiders.

Another thing that is wrong with people is that they are not careful in evaluating evidence.

Let's consider this second point: what evidence do you have, and I mean credible evidence from credible sources, that the rate at which immigrants commit "child rape and murder" is any higher than for non immigrants?
No one is talking about immigrants. They are talking about ILLEGAL immigrants. And since jails don't typically question arrestees about their legal status, there is no good way actually be definitive about how much crime illegals actually commit. One way or the other. All that can be done is to point that out the crime we DO know about.

We already have a system in place to check legal status to work.

Why not make this mandatory?
