  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Who is fighting for it?
Those who profit from employing illegal labor and the downward pressure it puts on all wages in the industries that it is used in.

It seems to me that's what the left is fighting for. I hear about how we need illegal aliens to do the jobs Americans won't do, all the time from the left. Which adds up to sweatshop labor.

It’s more their compassion for immigrants being exploited by business interests with a dash of classist destain toward manual labor for flavor.

Former President Trump this week tossed a bone to immigration hawks, promising to issue an executive order rescinding birthright citizenship if he returns to the White House....
Birthright citizenship in the United States is guaranteed by the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which states that all people “born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” are citizens.

Birthright citizenship is more common in the New World than it is in the Old.

Totally agree it needs restrictions... the situation is totally out of control. And, how many other countries with birthright citizenship have illegals walking in like a Macy's Day Parade???

This is completely made up fiction. Nobody says we need illegal aliens to do the jobs Americans won't do.

That could be one outcome. Another outcome is it could present there being less incentive to illegally enter the US to give birth.
I believe that the majority of so called "anchor babies" are given birth to by women here legally.

From the link:

Proponents of ending birthright citizenship argue that undocumented immigrants are not “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States, and therefore their children cannot receive citizenship by virtue of simply being born here.

Not repealing anything. Thoughts?

Wishful thinking imaging a work around on the part of those wanting to end birth right citizenship.

If undocumented immigrants are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, then they cannot be deported.

An H-4 visa is issued to dependent family members of H-1B, H-1B1, H-2A, H-2B, and H-3 visa holders.

Did you tell me to look this stuff up without having looked it up yourself?
No, but I think I read it wrong.

Under the current system, the newborn citizen is eligible for some healthcare (not a lot) and some basic rights. I don't see the point of making life more difficult for them.

Those who are clamoring for illegal aliens to fill those positions.
And who is doing that? Pointing out that our economy is dependent on immigrants to do these jobs is not clamoring for them to do it.

How so? How many little citizen babies are born each year to non-citizens?
And, how many other countries with birthright citizenship have illegals walking in like a Macy's Day Parade???
It's right there in the post you quoted, the article from the Atlantic Journal. Specifically, more than 30 countries, most of them in the western hemisphere.

That refers to people on diplomatic stays. You know how they have "diplomatic immunity"? That means they are not subject to US jurisdiction - they can flout our laws with impunity. Illegal aliens, on the other hand, can and often are subject to US laws when they are on US soil.

Read the article cited in the OP. Apparently, he made the claim most recently on a video on Truth Social (according to Factcheck.org). I don't go there. You can if you like.

None of those claim to do so by changing the Constitution.

No, Diplomats are NOT undocumented immigrants (illegal aliens). They are diplomats assigned by their country to the US
