Notice you used the word “did” not “do”. And you used the word “felt” instead of “feel”, “feeling”, or “feels”. Furthermore Paul uses the words “I am doing” repeatedly throughout the passage indicating that he still does things that he does not want to do and hates doing them. Just like the rest of us. There’s no indication that what he is writing about is a past experience. He even says that “evil IS present in him”.
Those who believe they live a sinless, without fault or defect, flawless, absolute perfect life 100% of the time (exactly as Jesus lived) are suffering from a terminal case of self righteousness. (1 John 1:8-10)

I’d say more of a delusional case of self righteousness.

Because we are aware

Yes, true. Instincts were meant to preserve the best quality of life, but only when tempered with love. Those who are aware of this, and live by the Law of Love, do well. Even so, the corrupt desire always dwells within us to disobey the Law of Love to pursue our instinctual desires to serve selfish ambitions, which is the way of death. Thank God for His Word, His Spirit, His mercy, and His salvation, in Lord Jesus, or else we would be doomed.

Most of us say repentance means turning from sin, turning to Christ. What then do we mean by turning from sin, turning to Christ? I have given this some serious thought. I believe repentance means STOP sinning and turning to God for forgiveness of our sins. Then people will say: "We are sinners, we can't stop sinning!" If we can't stop sinning, what then does it mean to "turn from sin"?
In Salvation Repentance is Given to them Jesus saves, Its in the Gift of Salvation Acts 5:31

Acts 5:29-32 (WEB) 29 But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men. 30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed, hanging him on a tree. 31 God exalted him with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give [didómi] repentance to Israel, and remission of sins. 32 We are his witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”
>>>

Salvation is {{{given/granted/allowed/offered/permitted}}} [didómi] to Israel now that Lord Jesus paid for all sins being raised from the dead.

Notice that the Greek word "didómi" has many meanings, and the context of "Acts 5:29-32" is the same throughout all the NT, that Lord Jesus died for our sins and was raised again to grant repentance by faith in him.

Acts 17:31 (WEB) The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked, but now God commands all people everywhere to repent.

<<<
2 Timothy 2:24-26 (WEB) 24 The Lord’s servant must not quarrel, but be gentle toward all, able to teach, patient, 25 in gentleness correcting those who oppose him: perhaps God may give [dōē] them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may recover themselves out of the devil’s snare, having been taken captive by him to his will.
>>>

Notice that "dōē" is another form of "didómi" and means: "allow," "give," "grant."

"2 Timothy 2:24-26" is written by Paul to Timothy, who is a Bishop of a church, instructing Timothy to correct those who oppose him in the church so that, perchance, God may still allow/grant them repentance so that they may recover themselves from the Devil's snare.

To "recover themselves" means they were already Christians in good standing, but they started to oppose sound instruction.

All Christians can likewise sin, and so oppose the instruction of Scripture in one or more topics. God, who sees the heart, may still allow repentance to those Christians who oppose, but if the Christian continues to deliberately sin and oppose, then God will not allow them repentance so that they may recover themselves (Hebrews 10:24-31).

Repentance is given, bestowed applied and its accompanied with forgiveness of sins, Justification of life.
  • God grants/gives/allows us the right to repent and receive forgiveness of sins because Lord Jesus paid the price for this forgiveness.
  • Therefore, we are forgiven when we repent and believe because of the Gospel (John 3:16).
  • God does NOT cause some to repent so he can forgive them; rather, God grants/allows us to repent so we may receive forgiveness of sins.
  • God now accepts our repentance based on the Gospel.
God grants the Jews as well as the Gentiles repentance, so they can be forgiven and saved. All people Everywhere who repent, whether Jew or Gentile, may now gain mercy from God to those who repent because of the Gospel.

Lord Jesus is calling all sinners to repent, showing us that Lord Jesus has already granted repentance to all sinners, but it us up to the sinner to now repent as Lord Jesus called us to do.

Mark 2:17 (WEB) When Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Acts 17:31 (WEB) The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked, but now God commands all people everywhere to repent.

Setst777 says all that is needed to be said in his post #50.
Nothing has changed, God gives repentance, causes it. Its not offered, its applied. And its given to Israel, a elect people, not everyone Acts 5:31

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

The lexicon specifies for this verse and Acts 11:18 give means to cause repentance

b. the noun denotes something to be done by him to whom it is said to be given: διδόναι τινὶ μετάνοιαν, to cause him to repent, Acts 5:31; Acts 11:18

1325. didómi: (1), allow (2), bestowed (4), cause (2), commanded* (1), dealing (1), drew (1), gave (79), give (122), given (117), gives (14), giving (12), grant (15), granted (10), granting (2), leave (1), make (1), offer (2), pass (1), pay (5), permitted (1), pour (1), poured (1), produce (1), produces (1), producing (1), put (6), puts (1), putting (1), show (1), struck* (1), utter (1), venture* (1), yielded (3).

As we see by actual usage, "1325. didómi" predominantly means to "give" or "grant" in the NT Scriptures. God gives or grants all people repentance onto life, but not all people will repent, although God gave them that option.

If repentance were applied (caused) then every single Israeli would repent and be saved, but only those Israelis who repent are part of the all of the Elect Israel who are saved.

God grants/allows Elect Israel, as a body, to repent, but obviously not all people in Israel will repent or will remain faithful, which means that God grants Israel repentance, but not all of Israel will repent, and so will be lost. Only a remnant of Elect Israel will actually repent and be saved.

Romans 9:27 (WEB) 27 Isaiah cries concerning Israel, “If the number of the children of Israel are as the sand of the sea, it is the remnant who will be saved

Romans 11:28 (WEB) Concerning the Good News, they (Israel) are enemies for your sake. But concerning the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sake.

God also grants repentance to the Gentiles, as a body.

Acts 11:18
(WEB) When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life!

Even though God grants the Gentiles repentance onto life, only a remnant of the Gentiles will repent and remain faithful, and so be saved being grafted into Israel by faith and remaining faithful to the end lest they also be cut off like the unfaithful of Israel who fell away.

Romans 11:17-22 (WEB) 17 But if some of the branches (persons) were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the root and of the richness of the olive tree, 18 do not boast over the branches. But if you boast, it is not you who support the root, but the root supports you. 19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.” 20 True; by their unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by your faith. Don’t be conceited, but fear; 21 for if God didn’t spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. 22 See then the goodness and severity of God. Toward those who fell, {{{severity}}}; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in his goodness; otherwise you also will be cut off.

Revelation 3:2-6 (WEB) 2 Wake up and keep the things that remain, which you were about to throw away, for I have found no works of yours perfected before my God. 3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard. Keep it and repent. If therefore you won’t watch, I will come as a thief, and you won’t know what hour I will come upon you. 4 Nevertheless you have a few names in Sardis that didn’t defile their garments. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy. 5 He who overcomes will be arrayed in white garments, and I will in no way blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out...and that He may send Jesus Christ; Acts 3:18-20
They report how you turned to God [repentance toward God] from [sin] idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from wrath; 1 Thess 1:9-10

Therefore brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,...
for He who promised is faithful. Heb 10:19-39

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Cor 1:9

God gives elect Israel repentance, its a application word. Just like here Acts 17:25

Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

You and I take our very next breath only because God gives it to us friend, He causes it, and will continue to cause it until our days expire according to His will and purpose. Once again when God gives repentance He causes it to occur. Jer 31:19

Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

We can't stop sinning as our animal nature is part of our makeup. That of course was not an issue until we learned of good and evil which then made our animal nature conflict with the will of God

We do not have an animal nature. We were created in the image and likeness of God. That would be our carnal nature which is the Sin nature. When sin was introduced to the world, and we died spiritually that day, our body and soul did not remain unaffected by death coming into the world as sin. That is what corrupted us.

We have a different makeup than animals. Both in body and spirit. We have a level of consciousness above any animal and the ability to reason so in no way do we have an animal nature. A bull Elk may have several cows of his own and this is ok for them but if we were to do the same thing they would lock you up, lol! So we can not take a nice woman to mate by force because we are held to a higher standard and it is God's standard and stands up to reason.

I've heard people use this term before, animal nature, and I suspect that many times it is believed to be ok by the user of the term because animal nature somehow justifies some behavior of theirs? (which means deep down, they know it).

A sudden flash of lust, hatred, covetousness. You stub your toe and blurt out a blasphemy. You find yourself in a tight spot and blurt out a lie. The everyday stumbles we make. The things we do, often in the spur of the minute, that we're later sorry for.

Agreed. This class that the Lord has us in here in earh is seemingly impossible to get a perfect score. But it is not I than sin but sin that dwells in my flesh. Right? I am the righteousness of God in Christ. That is to say, in spirit. Our flesh will be perfected over time.

But constant repentance is the key. King David is said to be a man after God's own heart! But he committed adultery and then murder as a coverup. So how could he be a man after God's own heart? He kept repenting and turning back to the Lord. He would stumble, and then get up and dust himself off, and say Lord I am sorry I wont do that again...

The Lord does not expect perfection from us. He does expect effort to do better with repentance.
