He seems to have run out of hatred for Putin already, even as an actual war with him continues. Meanwhile, biden's hateful rhetoric has turned toward his political opponents right here in this country.

I just read a post where you complained about a "$60 B proxy war with Russia" as part of your Litany of Complaint against the current president in comparison to his predecessor. Which do you want:

Do you want Biden to be more forceful against Putin and his invasion?

-- or --

Do you want the US to stop supporting Ukraine against Putin's invasion?

Pick a lane.

They didn't get to carry out their threat because they got their biden. At least threatening violence worked this time.

But Biden isn't Bernie.

Bernie was *never* on a general election ballot against Trump. He was *only* on Democratic primary ballots against Clinton (2016) and Biden et al. (2020).

So exactly how did their threats work out for them? They didn't get Bernie as the DEM nominee either time. Sounds like failure to me. (I also understand that in 2016 a bunch of Bernie backers moved to Trump do to their disdain for the "establishment". Not sure if they did in 2020.)

How many Islamists participated in 9/11? Enough that 15 years later, Trump attempted to ban every Muslim from entering this country.
And his supporters loved that Trump campaigned on this and enthusiastically voted for this.

You should have been more concerned over the violent riots that happened throughout 2020. Far more places were affected, far more people were affected, and the damage was far more widespread. But the events of one day at one building, and that's what the political party in charge right now wants everyone to be focused on. So close to an election where said political party is about to lose, it's not surprising.
Pretty much everyone has been concerned about the insurrection ever since Jan 6. Its always a worry when a supposed democratic country is looking like giving up democracy.

I would have preferred Biden to not have shown so much weakness that encouraged Putin to go ahead and invade Ukraine. No such thing happened under Trump.

"Democracy" isn't a building in Washington DC.

Same group of people.

I'm beginning to see why you are having so much problems parsing the President's "MAGA Republican" category.

If some commentator or other popular figure (need not be a politician) made a strong statement about how "Bernie Bro's" were a threat to democracy, etc., and "regular" Dems started complaining about being tarred with that brush you would apparently see them all as the same.

What I would see in that case is that the "regular Dems" were a bit more "Bernie Bro" than they'd like to admit and should stop giving aid and comfort to them.

Why didn't you post anything about what people such as Bernie Sanders campaign organizers said--that cities would burn if Trump was re-elected?
Just google "Milwaukee will burn sanders doesn't win" to find the articles. Can't post the links here because of the filthy language of the people quoted. These were the ones who originally threatened violence if they didn't get their way during the election.

Because they weren't the topic of conversation. Whatever anyone else has done or said or claimed does not excuse the promotion of violence. Period. Whether it's from either side of the political fence. Do.you actually understand that?

It's wrong. And you pointing out that someone else has done it does not grant anyone else the freedom to do the same.

Did Sander's organisers say anything as stupid as that? If they did then they they were wrong to do it. Who can deny that? And if anyone threatens or encourages violence then they need to be held to account. I can guarantee that I could quote someone saying something stupid and ask most people on this forum if they agreed with it or not. And do you know what they'd say? Well, no prize for guessing that they'd want to know who said it before they could answer.

I kid you not, it drives me up the wall that we have these constant schoolyard arguments that denies that someone on one side can be held to account because someone on the other side did something that they consider to be worse. Honestly, my grandson has a better grip on how to hold down an argument.

And Bernie Sanders followers were threatening to burn cities to the ground if Trump won. Is that would you would have preferred? When 2024 comes around, they may get the chance to carry out that threat--and the narrative will shift once again to calling it "peaceful Americans exercising their first amendment right to protest", just like in 2020.
What?

Welcome to the thread. (Now would be a good time to leave.)

The whole thing is based on an accusation in the OP that the RS had "FBI leaks" from inside the investigation which were by the time the OP was made mostly (if not entirely) known from public court filings all of which indicate that the "leaked" information was known to Trump and his lawyers long before the RS article was written and given that they are not under any obligation to keep confidential while the DOJ, FBI, and court are obliged to keep it confidential. Given this the simplest explanation is that Trump had this information shown to a reporter. Why? Who knows it doesn't seem favorable to him, but then "Trump lawyer" and "competence" have never been synonymous.

Since then the thread has drifted from explanations to whataboutism and of late, off-topic whataboutism.

It is also fact less whataboutism. What the Bernie advocate said was about Bernie not winning the Dem nomination. Nothing to do with Trump. So since Bernie didn't, and Milwaukee didn't burn, to make that a point of "whataboutism" is just frankly humor content.

I'll make it simpler for you as to how many people biden was talking about when referring to "MAGA Republicans".
How many people voted for Trump (and are being acknowledged)? 74,223,369
What was Trump's campaign slogan? Make America Great Again. MAGA
Now, tell me how a Republican who voted for Trump is not a MAGA Republican.
These are the people (more than 74 million) that biden says are a threat.

Except the fact that we were discussing who was threatening violence if they didn't get their way, or how that makes them a threat to democracy. I guess that doesn't apply to those who didn't actually carry out their threat since they got what they wanted.

Didn't need to say it to indicate a need to be informed about it.
I had no need. I already know that the Capitol is a building.
The insurrection though was not just an attempt to damage or control a building.

What then? Do you believe the Q'Anon Shaman was actually about to become the Senate majority leader?
