I don’t know a whole lot about this movement of Christians. But I’m definitely curious about. A few of my interactions with various people in the real world who found this as their belief system have always been positive. I definitely don’t feel a connection to the theology of baptists, Methodists, Catholics and so on. I most closely resemble the CoC but with far less fundamentalism and literalist lenses to read the scriptures through.

Father Barnabas Powell runs a youtube channel called "faith encouraged" (He used to be a pentacostal pastor)

Father Josiah Trenham is an author, speaker and runs a youtube channel called "patristic nectar" (Used to be Presbyterian, wrote a book called "rock and sand" that covers the Orthodox perspective of Protestantism)

Father Spyridon runs a self titled youtube channel

Abbot Tryphon runs a youtube channel called "Fr Tryphon"

have you gone to your closest Church? because you should do that if you can before checking out podcasts.

I’m just not that interested in the moment at going to a EO church. I have a church that I enjoy fellowship with and my beliefs closely align on the bulk of stuff. I’m more interested in various beliefs held by EO compared to other denominations of Protestantism and wanting to see how their teachers can possibly help with wisdom and keeping out of a echo chamber.

I didn’t say to join her, just to check her out. that way the podcasts will make more sense.

Seeking wisdom is never a bad thing.

It is when done without discernment and humility.

The true Church of Christ doesn't guarantee you'll like anything about it. It might even be harder for you.

It's important not to latch onto any one person or book. Orthodoxy is more about the experience and living our lives to the contours of the Church and not looking for a church that fits us. I gave some resources I felt might represent Orthodoxy well online but it really isn't something you can learn by just reading a book or just listening to one person. Orthodoxy never took to scholasticism like Western Christianity did and thus it's hard to translate that experience in the right way from that mindset.

What are you even going on about dude. Your posts are so useless. Seriously what’s the point? Do you not understand my question? It’s simple. I’m looking for a book or podcast to read or listen to that presents EO doctrinal views on a subject. It’s not this complicated answer and it’s definitely nothing that requires your kind of useless input of “ may be harder for you” or “ wisdom seeker without humility “ and so on.

You did not anger me. I think you are just simply angry and trolling. I’m just highlighting the fact that if you want to participate in a discussion then try to be a adult about it and contribute to it. Not just baseless snark.

May the Mother of God soften our hearts.

And may God bless you on your search for what is suitable for you.

Edit: maybe post these kinds of questions in the general EO forum next time instead of the debate forum.

Thanks I’ll definitely look him up. I have found dozens and used Amazon reviews and ect… just looking for some favorites from others. Even if something is technical or a biblical study thesis on a very specific topic I’m pretty good at working through it. I’ve read dozens of commentaries just on genesis alone. I am comfortable with eating very geeky with science or theology.

A very good book for learning what orthodoxy teaches is Indication of the Way Into the Kingdom of Heaven by Saint Innocent of Alaska. It was written for the Alaskan Natives whom he served faithfully and lovingly. We often use it as part of catechism because it's short, easily digestible, but it's thorough in the sense that it focuses on the meaning of the faith and it's purpose for an audience that is completely unchurched.

Welcome to CF and to TAW!

As far as podcasts, two of my favorites that haven’t been mentioned are Fr. Evan Armitas with Orthodoxy Live, which is a call-in program. The questions rage from simple and basic to more complex. Fr. Evan is good at explaining WHY we do/believe many things, so it’s good for understanding. As a caveat, I haven’t listened to him in about a year but I imagine it’s still the same.

I also really Dr. Jeannie Constantineau with Search the Scriptures Live. She also accepts calls but it’s more of a themed Bible study over weeks. She has a great depth of historical understanding and applies it to understanding the Scriptures in context, and very much focuses on how Orthodox think. It’s one of my absolute favorites and I always learn things to greater depth from her.

Both can be found on Ancient Faith Radio.

(My caveat is that it doesn’t replace experiencing the Liturgy, but they are good teaching podcasts.)

she’s got a lot of good stuff, and more degrees than a thermostat.
