  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Where is Kamala Harris?

Does it not destroy or diminish the lives of the people already in need in the USA? Are they, who are citizens and have paid taxes, going to have their employment prospects and even necessary government assistance reduced so that people who have no stake in the USA, have paid nothing into our welfare, etc. systems, but who need food, clothing, housing, and so on and can get it from our government?

And how "Christian" is it when those in government who constantly claim to be the ones helping our poor and disadvantaged, instead make them poorer and more disadvantaged...and all because the newcomers are expected to vote for the political party of the officeholders who are doing this?

I don’t agree with your idea that these 11 million undocumented diminish the lives of US citizen. But that is for another day to argue. But even if it does diminish the life of US citizen, I can’t support sending back 11 million of people to their country and practice “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself”.

We have to find a solution that works for both.

how did you find the Vice-President's daily schedule?

please give me the link
The Biden administration which made a point of promising transparency has refused to publish the daily schedules of the President and VP, but the news reports where and when they have appeared after the fact.

Therefore, the same information is available to you and you can easily observe when both were on extended vacations during national crises, when Harris says she will go to the border but then did not do so, learn which grieving family of someone killed in Afghanistan by Biden's policies there did not get the courtesy of any expression of sorrow and sympathy from the President, etc.

The facts are the facts, but I cannot make anyone admit to them, that's true.

How many would be too many--in your judgment of course? A recent survey/poll showed that half of the world's population would like to come here if they could work it out. And now, under Biden, it's fairly simple to do.

And remember that there's nothing magical about the 11 million figure you are using. We already have more than five times that number living in the USA today--illegal immigrants--and millions more coming each year as it is. When we accommodate 11 million, we then get the next 11 million, and so on.

Oh I guess “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” only practice when all the stars aligned in my favor.

No one is stopping you from loving your neighbor as yourself. What you want is to force other people to love neighbors according to your chosen policies.

But speaking of that, when you have invited several homeless people to live in your residence, given them or others half of your income and many of your clothes, etc. and so on, please get back to us and tell us how it's working out.

Aha .. it took few posts to get to where we really want to be. I should practice my faith and not force others to do the same. Great. Does that apply to abortion law too ? or when it comes to abortion or homosexuality and gay marriage , we look up to Bible and force policy for everyone, but for undocumented immigrant, we just practice it ourselves.

That would seem reasonable and Christian, right?

"The Vice President will meet with His Excellency Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India," a White House official said.
This will be the first meeting between the two leaders. Ms. Harris had earlier spoken with Mr. Modi over the phone during the COVID-19 crisis."

Sooooo, does this mean that if our hidebound VP deigns to actually do SOMETHING she's been assigned to do, once in awhile, and it's something routine, you are thinking of her as a dynamo??

There's no camoflaging the fact that both she and Biden have been remarkably absent from their duties ever since Inauguration Day.

But before we close the book on this matter, let's wait to see if she actually goes through with this meeting. She has a way of not doing, at the last minute, what she has been reported as preparing to do.

And when it comes to abortion law? Do we force others to practice what we believe ?
It's really absurd to claim that if we as a society prohibit murder, we are somehow not being charitable to the wrongdoer(s). And you are way, way, off from the points made earlier to the effect that no one is prohibiting you from doing everything you can to help the needy and do this because of your faith.

From your replies, it looks to me that you want the government to force someone else to do all of that...and you think this is the epitome of Christian charity. I can only say this: it's not.

Where in the constitution says abortion is murder or wrong? There is none. The entire pro-life movement is based on Biblical principle. Which I agree.

Well, employees who take three hours for lunch breaks and fail to show up at the office every other day probably could be said to "be working," too. Maybe that depends on who is speaking.

But who are we fooling in the case of Kamala Harris, and why would anyone want to alibi for her dismal performance in office?

Vice President Kamala Harris: favorability rating U.S. 2021 | Statista

" as of August 2021, 38 percent of U.S. adults surveyed said they had a very unfavorable opinion of the Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. On the other hand, 44 percent said they had either a very favorable or a somewhat favorable opinion of the first female Vice President."

more favorable opinions than unfavorable
not totally beaten down yet

don't forget- first woman VP & nonwhite
so just those two things put her on outs with many
