Encyclopedia Britannica: Ballista, ancient missile launcher designed to hurl javelins or heavy balls. . ... The largest ballistas were quite accurate in hurling 60-pound weights up to about 500 yards. Compare catapult. Ballista - Wikipedia
Josephus Book 3 section 166: "Vespasian then set the engines for throwing stones and darts round about the city. The number of the engines was in all a hundred and sixty, ..., and stones of the weight of a talent (coincidence?) were thrown by the engines that were prepared for that purpose, together with fire,
"new temple the Jews will build in Jerusalem" Scripture please.
How will those who pierced Him be there? Scripture please with your answer.
2 Thess.2: 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

That event did NOT occur in the old temple, & in Scripture, the only temples of God were in Jerusalem. So, there must be a new temple in J for the "abominstion of desolation" to occur in, simple as THAT !

Rev. 1:7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

Now, the adverb "even" is used here as an intensive to stress an extreme or highly unlikely condition or instance, which those who pierced Him, being long-dead, ordinarily would see nothing happening on earth. But the revelating angel said they'd also see Jesus, so I believe it.

And again, about the Roman weapons: A ballista was a gigantic bow that launched large spear-like missiles. Only so many of those could be manufactured on short notice, & their main purpose, along with catapults, was to break down walls. And again, it took time to load & [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] either of those devices, plus, their unreliability & frequent breakdowns. Even the catapults of medieval times, made outta better materials, with the accumulated knowledge of the centuries, suffered the same deficiencies. But they were used til cannons were invented. They certainly didn't inflict a "hail" of stones! Besides, that event will be worldwide, as will the other plagues of the great trib.

Remember, Jesus plainly said, in Matt.24, that He'd return IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE GREAT TRIB, so, if that trib was in AD70, He's long-overdue !

So you just want to be difficult. Is that it?

These are the verses I already gave you and you apparently waved off.

Wow. 1 Cor 15:52, 1 Thess 4:13-18, Rev 20:5

So, one at a time:

1 Cor 15:52 - in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

1 Thess 4:13-18
13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.
14For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
18Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Rev 20-
1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain.
2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.
3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5(The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

You are free to deny the reality of this resurrection of our bodies, but the Bible is clear, nonetheless.

No, you're denying what is IN Scripture.

neither of these verses supports your unbiblical notions.

I've given you 3 passages that clearly speak of a bodily resurrection.
Phillipians 3: 20But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
Which is Christ's glorious body, the one Paul encountered on the road to Damascus and Moses encountered on the mount or do you believe it's the resurrected body that Mary mistook for the gardener?
Please describe what you mean from scripture keeping in mind what Paul said here: 1 Corinthians 4:6I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another.

I would appreciate if you'd interact with the verses I gave you. Just throwing more verses at me isn't how to have a profitable discussion.

Thanks.

Maybe I should first be clear by what you mean by "bodily" resurrection.
You die and return to the dust of the ground and there's no longer a body left. What happens in your resurrection view?

It is clear you are in need of some teaching. Read 1 Cor 15, all of it. v.52 is interesting.

Then, read 1 Thess 4, all of it.

Then get back to me.

All I know is that, in the resurrection, we'll be given new bodies.

No adult is in the same body he/she was born with, except for teeth & parts of bone. Much of the soft tissue has slowly been replaced over time. Aging is the result of that process of replacement slowing down.

I politely asked you for "your" view of the resurrection body, and instead you chose to insult me. Why?

OK, let's unpack this. First this is what I said:
" Read 1 Cor 15, all of it. v.52 is interesting.

Then, read 1 Thess 4, all of it.

Then get back to me."

You asked my view and I gave it to you. In the form of what the Bible says, which is my view. That's not an insult.

Then I asked you to get back to me. I think most people would understand that as simply agreeing with me or if not, explaining WHY not?

So, do you agree with the verses or disagree with them?

Simple question. No insults.

Sportzz fanzz, we're getting away from preterism here.

Can any full preterist here show us , from indisputable sources, where the prophesied eschatological events have already occurred, especially Jesus' return ?
I shall get the popcorn. Can't wait!

It is clear you are in need of some teaching.
You prefaced your post with that statement.
Nevertheless, Then do we would agree with the Expositor's Greek Testament on this? “And (He gives) to each of the seeds a body of its own (ἴδιον)”. This added clause meets the finer point of the second question of 1 Corinthians 15:35; God will find a fit body for man’s redeemed nature, as He does for each of the numberless seeds vivified in the soil. “How unintelligent to think, as the Pharisees did, that the same body that was buried must be restored, if there is to be a resurrection! Every wheat-stalk contradicts thee!”

Here is your original response:
Ed Parenteau said:

This was my response to that:
"OK, let's unpack this. First this is what I said:

The verse you quoted wasn't even in the discussion.

We will be resurrected into new bodies. I don't know what their appearance & nature will be, but they'll be a lot better than our present ones.
I am hoping that one of the "full preterists" will explain how everyone has already received their resurrection bodies, since they believe that all prophecy has been fulfilled.
