  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Isn’t it understandable that I wish to attend a church whose theology I am comfortable with?

This church you will never find unless you make your own. God doesn't want us to find our own idea of church and what we like but He wants us to find His Church.

Go with He who is.

God wants us to find the truth and the narrow door. The question is where is that found.

I’m sure you think that you have that answer but so does every other member of the Christian religion.

I don' have the answer God does. Can we get out of the way and let go of our pet ideas to hear God? Can I?

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind, and love your neighbour as yourself.

That sums up the 10...first 4 to love God and the last 6 to love your neighbor.

Well I may try attending but if the Priest doesn’t answer my questions then that is a problem. I sent him an email asking about being rebaptized and if he refuses to answer then that is a problem for me.

Were you baptized in a trinitarian manner? If so you may not need to be rebaptized

I watched half of the video. I’m not really sure how it relates to keeping the sabbath day holy according to the 4th commandment.

The first man Adam was created on the 6th day...the 2nd Adam was destroyed on the 6th day.
The first man Adam kept the Sabbath on the 7th day....the 2nd Adam kept it in the tomb.

I am Jewish but I keep the sabbath because Jesus commands us to obey the commandments.

I keep the sabbath in the same manner as the Jews by resting from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. I also try to spend this time emphasizing worship, study, and communion with Jesus Christ.

My method of keeping the sabbath is similar to SDA or Messianic Christians.

Do you drive on Shabbat? There are only a few commands regarding Shabbat. No cooking, no gathering wood, no kindling of a flame and rest. Do you follow the 39 laws of melachot? Do you make Challah? :)

Since we live from Eucharist to Eucharist that is how we view the 7th day.

You mean the most delicious bread out there! :D

I grew up in Cincinnati, the home of Reform Judaism and then lived in a Jewish area of Boston. In college, I took a couple of classes with the faculty advisor for Hillel and still get cards from Hillel asking for donations. I've done my share of driving on Shabbat for friends and celebrated plenty of Seders with neighbors.

No, I don’t drive. No, I don’t follow laws of melachot. No, I do not make Challah.

I simply follow the 4th commandment to remember the sabbath day and to keep it holy by observing it as a day of rest from labors and rememberance of God.

Yes I was baptized as a trinitarian several times but after that I was baptized as a Mormon and after that I fell away and practiced Satanism, the Occult, and witchcraft. Due to my history of falling into those false religions I am interested in being rebaptized.

IMO you definitely should! Come and see!

Honestly at this point I’m not that interested in attending any longer. I am more interested in finding a church where I am free to observe my sabatarian beliefs. It doesn’t really seem like the Orthodox Church is the place for that. It seems like the Orthodox here are more interested in converting me away from my sabbath belief. I am not interested in changing my belief on sabbath so this is probably not a good fit for me. This was however the reason I opened this thread was to discover how Orthodox Church members react to sabbath keepers. So the purpose of this thread has been successful and I have discovered all I need to know. It is quite obvious that I wouldn’t be acceptable in the Orthodox Church as a sabbath keeper.

You are missing out in my opinion! Nobody is trying to convert you away from the Sabbath.

OK I thought you said you follow it in the Jewish way. So why do you think anyone would be against that?

Hmmm...You were a Mormon too?!? Satanism?!?? Why? I never understood why one would go from salvation to damnation...from worshiping the One true God to worship of a being that wants your complete destruction...
