the Democrats are full of it. They are the ones attaching pork to the bill and then stonewalling while people lose their jobs and die.

But hey, windmills are so important during this time.

Or controls on how the money is spent, or trying to keep companies taking money from simply laying everyone off, buying stock or big corporate bonuses.

Let's spend a day or two discussing how to spend trillions of dollars before freaking out though. Being frantic after a single day has passed and no one has bequeathed an unregulated corporate slush fund to our ailing businesses is unseemly.

Did you find the windmills in that bill yet?

meanwhile hospitals cannot get what they need and people are loosing their jobs while they squabble over control of a minute portion of a bill that they labeled a slush fund for dramatic purposes.

“Minute”? $475 billion out of a $1.8 trillion bill is not “minute”.
Trump, whose hotel business is losing millions, says 'I'll be the oversight' of $500 billion coronavirus 'slush fund'

Also, I’ve watched you rag on Obama’s deficits for years and now all of a sudden, you’re racing to spend nearly $2 trillion, with a quarter of that having little to no oversight on how it’s spent? Lol, do you actually care about wasteful spending or do you only care about who’s signing the check?

'Cut off our pay': Graham says Congress should lose salaries if it fails to pass coronavirus relief bill

There is no good reason left to deny the American people the relief they need,” Graham said. “Every restaurant and bar in South Carolina is closed. As long as you can’t congregate with 10 people or more, the entire economy is shut down. So, people need a paycheck."

I agree completely
I think waiting a few days longer for a bill that puts thousands more in the pockets of the most needy is worth it. You don’t take the first offer the boss gives in a negotiation, you ask for more. Dems are fighting right now for American workers. Refusing to take the first crappy offer means workers will get more, not less.

Pelosi’s proposal is out:
https://www.axios.com/nancy-pelosi-coronavirus-stimulus-proposal-d7b4a9a0-610a-4324-a07b-6bb64e1f5c81.html

Of course, the emissions standards only apply to airlines that receive money under this program. I don’t see any problems there.

The complaint about union concerns seems to be at least partly valid. Division P (one relevant section) rescinds some of Trump’s EO’s related to federal unions, and doesn’t even try to relate it to coronavirus.

Other passages that are more pertinent impose on companies that accept money from this program restrictions on their ability to dump a labor contract.
I’m proud that my union is actively lobbying Congress to protect workers affected by COVID, and to protect us from having our contracts raided by employers who get bailed out and just want to pocket the money. Union members have been flooding Congress with calls and emails. The Dems are listening to their constituents.

That's socialism. And socialism is evil.

Also Venezuela... And Cuba...

You get the idea.

What about the billions of dollars the Democrats are adding to the bill that have absolutely nothing to do with helping people effected by this crisis, but are funding pet projects they can’t get funded?

No better or worse than the billions that Republicans are adding for the same reasons.

There are 535 voting congresscritters, and personally, I wouldn't trust any of them not to try to slip in "and an extra few million for me" on important legislation. I wouldn't sign over two trillion dollars of my money without checking every line of the fine print... it's the sensible thing to do.

By your previously-articulated standards, those billions are so "minute" as to be microscopic.

Those aren’t “pet projects,” those are things their constituents want.

And it didn’t keep them from getting a deal, they settled on a plan, and it’s better for working class people than the one they initially rejected. I mean what was that, three days? We waited three days longer and it’s way better.

That's patently untrue. Some items may be in that category although you have no way of knowing, but many are clearly just gimmicks that advance the fortunes of those guys' political party--

And it didn’t keep them from getting a deal, they settled on a plan...
Only because they lost the public relations war when so many citizens and voters were outraged at this game-playing on the part of Pelosi and her followers while millions of Americans are out of work, cannot meet their bills, and are in immediate need!

Any government all consititues Socialism, eh?

Then why do Socialists like Bernie campaign on making radical changes to our government and laws? If what we currently have is Socialism, no changes would be needed.

I'd also say "You get the idea" except that it looks like you don't.

Or, ya know, they compromised between two different wish lists. The bill written by the Senate was a Republican wish list. The bill written by the House was a Democratic wish list. What they agreed on has elements of both - as it should.
