So he was America's most admired man for his 8 years and the entirety of President Trumps administration so far? Good point!
tulc(appreciates Jermayn pointing that out)

The only thing to point out is that how popular someone can be when they offer free everything to everyone and tell you you don't have to be responsible for anything. Have unprotected sex and get pregnant? It's ok, just kill the baby! Don't feel like working? Here's other peoples money for free! Yeah, that guys going to be REAL popular. Oh, and I'm sure Obama is REALLY popular in Iran too after they got that "secret" middle of the night airdrop of $150,000,000,000. You know, that same country that's behind the U.S. Embassy siege that's going on RIGHT NOW!

Trump has the good fortune to have become President after the Obama fiasco so even he looks not all that bad .

As you see, Trump isn't very well-respected by most Americans for reasons we've all been discussing here. Yes, following Obama probably made him look worse, given the respect Obama has gotten for his achievements, but it would have been bad for him in any case.

Obama's approval rate did dip as low as Trump's at one point in his administration, but stands at 57.2 approval, which is pretty close to Trump's disapproval numbers.

Trump did some of that, but I don't remember Obama saying anything like that. And Obama is much more respected by Americans than Trump is. So I'm thinking you're wrong.

And yes, Obama told Iran, "Here's the deal; you stop working on nuclear weapons, and we'll let you have your money back." (he had sequestered Iranian assets in the U.S.)

Only after they complied with his demands did they get it back.

Then Trump broke the agreement, without any leverage on them. Now they're enriching uranium, again, and they have their money. Do you see why people think Trump is an idiot?

So people that are eager to answer poll questions don't like Trump and do like Obama. In the real world, how good or bad a job someone is doing does not rely on being liked by people that are eager to answer poll questions.

The standards of the US polling population are quite skewed if Trump and Obama are admirable to them.

Different people. There are those Americans who like Trump. Just not as many as like Obama. For the obvious reasons.

No, the thing that should be pointed out was that President Obama is still popular 3 years into President Trumps administration. Three years out of office and the best President Trump can do is tie with President Obama for number one. Would you prefer to address the fact that 82% of Americans polled admired other people more then President Trump?

No, that's not how polls are conducted.

In the real world, how much someone wants to answer a poll is not a factor. Most Americans prefer Obama for all the reasons we've been discussing here.

Perhaps you should take one of those supplements that improve memory?

You couldn't think of one, either? Neither can anyone else, apparently. Guess why. Maybe that drug isn't "improving" your memory as much as you think it is.

Huh...President Obama left an amazing economy and expanding employment and a greater standing and admiration for America behind him when he left office, so that's a new use for the word "fiasco" I've never seen before...:sorry:

That's kinda strange; we keep hearing how his followers are so indoctrinated, he could publicly murder someone without losing their faith. And yet, they privately admit he's not so good.

Yeah... when Trump was talking about the rest of the world laughing at us, I thought he was saying it was a bad thing. Turns out, it seems to have been one of his objectives.

I don't need to take a memory drug to remember only one of the many supposedly free things people were expecting Obama to provide them. Health Care , phones, stimulus money. All from his stash. "that's why we voted for him"

Not surprising...

Americans rank Barack Obama as best president of their lifetimes: Poll
A new Pew Research Center poll says more Americans rank former President Barack Obama higher than any other when asked which president has done the best job in their lifetimes.

Obama was named the best or second best president by 44 percent of Americans in the survey that came out Wednesday. Thirty-one percent ranked him as the best president in their lifetimes.

Commentators often comment on the cult-like adoration supposedly given to Trump by his followers, but...

President Donald Trump comes in fourth after President Bill Clinton and President Ronald Reagan, with 19 percent of Americans ranking him as the best or second best in their lifetimes.

Obama has the good fortune to have governed between Bush II and Trump, so he looks pretty good by comparison. For 8 years, we had a president who wasn't laughed at by the rest of the world.

I'm an American but live in Canada now. I am so so so very proud of President Obama. He is beloved by many here.

Trump OTOH. I think he's aberration. Only a minority of American citizens actually voted for him. He did not win the popular vote like President Obama did for both of his elections. I am very ashamed of him but I'm lucky to not have to live in the US while he is in office.

I don't remember Bush W.

I am friends irl with a girl on here who studies international political policies w a focus on global health at Stanford & she has told me that Bush did the most for AIDS research out of any POTUS. He made a really big difference. She wrote a paper on how what he did has helped hugely with the vaccine researchers have been working on. That could totally change the world in our lifetime. He didn't personally do that research but he cared enough about the issue to put power behind getting funding & support for it.
He also created the second largest economic decline in American history, aka the great recession. Took down the whole world's economies. Proof positive that trickle down doesn't work. Yet the republicans keep pushing it.

Bc the Republicans who keep pushing it are the ones who actually benefit from it, so they will keep repeating history to the detriment of others.

Maybe you do. Suddenly, we get a shift from:

The only thing to point out is that how popular someone can be when they offer free everything to everyone and tell you you don't have to be responsible for anything.

to:

many supposedly free things people were expecting Obama to provide them

Remember? The story seems to be evolving.

Democrats, including Obama, have stated multiple times that Christians need to change their beliefs on abortion, that they cling to religion because they are bitter, and they should not be allowed to hold public office. This is the perfect example of removing the beam from your own eye before removing the mote from your brothers.

If politics were taken out of abortion policies there'd be far more of a hope of actually lower the abortion rate like how Switzerland did. Ella wrote a lot about this here bc she wrote a paper about it with a researcher who has studied how Republican anti-abortion policies have led to MORE abortions. He's studied it for the past 20 yrs and been published in the major journals. I wrote a thread here. It's in a restricted section but you can still read it even if you can't post there.
