Thanks Bella It must be a trend or something, because this Methodist church is thriving otherwise. They are so big they have 3 services, a traditional, which is liturgical , a contemporary, which is packed to the point where you sometimes have to stand, and a blended service (which I've never attended. ) Two youth groups, mission trips, food pantry. Choir, band, Vacation Bible School with 300 in attendance etc etc. They are financially strong and you can feel the Spirit there. It's like they some of these churches have that 'always room for improvement' business model which requires constant innovation. Maybe the pastors want us in small groups for pastoral care, since the congregation is too big, but they present it like its, like you said, a 'biblical mandate.'This is why the Spirit isn’t flowing like it should. They’re systemizing everything.
