A bat could end one man's existence on the planet ... perhaps more ...
True. But we could not say that if God did not return a bat would end life.

In the gun debate in the US, they say that cars, and bats and knives and etc etc can be weapons also. They say it is how they are used. I think they know that the weapons/guns are in a population of sinners, they just fear that government sinners need to be kept in check even at the cost of the ensuing carnage.

Looking at the sciences that deal in where life and the universe came from, I would have to say NO. Looking at actual science in general, and what it gave mankind, there is a lot of good that we have gotten from science. Weighing the bad though, on a scale along with the good, I am leaning toward thinking that since the bad outweighs the good, and endangers humanity, the answer also might be no!

Have a weigh in.....
I agree, science has enabled mankind to greatly accelerate the destruction of life on this planet.

I figuered that you couldnt, and I was right.
Well, then let me try.

"Unfortunately, it seems that many scientists today try to use science to disprove God's existence."

One way to look at whether they are trying to support God or not is to look at how they rate compared to God's word. Science directly opposes creation as told by His word. So that number is basically 100% of scientists in origin fields/branches of science that do not totally disagree with science claims!

Science does not adress god(s) at all.

Science and the principles behind it have made our daily lives easier, extended our lifespan, made us healthier and more aware of the surrounding universe.

This new anti-science trend of lazy nonintellectuals is just pathetic. Nobody wants to work the fields 16 hours a day and die of infection when you scratch your thumb and to live what was considered a ripe old age if you made it past 30.

God gave us brains so we would use them. If we can correct our faulty genes to prevent certain type of cancer or some other hereditary disease why not do it ? Unnecessary suffering is not making us holy.

Certainly we should have ethical discussion on matters concerning the use of technology. Just as we should have had ethical discussions on Sparta when they left unfit babies to waste on the wilds.

Good thing with technology and science is that you can largely ignore it. Go live in wilds, go off grid and enjoy the fruits of manual labour and survive by your wits.

I dont understand why you can't believe in God and also root for humanity to figure out the world around us.

Sure, some people do evil things with the knowledge of science, but people also do evil things with religious knowledge, using God's name for their own gain, and have all throughout human history.

As far as the handful of people on this thread go... and most humans... Im sure we are all just trying to figure life out, both physically and mentally.
Why reject half of our knowledge?
If we can make eachother's lives physically and mentally better, that's a good which comes from God and man.. working together.

Science is a tool ... like a wrench.

You can use a wrench to tighten a loose bolt (that's good) ...
... but you can also use a wrench to assault someone (that's bad).
The thing is though, these assaults are coming more often and more viciously.

Look around this forum and tell me how it's being used.

Can you even recognize an "assault" [on God's word by science] if you see one?

Your objections appear to be based upon the fact that you don't like the findings science has made in these areas. Fortunately, the universe doesn't much care about your opinion on the matter and most scientists would seek to follow the universe on this one.
Findings?

More like inventions.

Ecclesiastes 7:29 Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

This is probably pretty subjective. Saying a 40000 year old wolf skull has been dated by scientific methods ; for others it is interesting bit of science news and for others it is "assault" on God`s word.

Science has nothing say on the supernatural.
Right ... and I'm Genghis Khan.

Find? or see?

I like what one theologian say:

Some look at the Grand Canyon and see a beautiful geological marvel; others look at the Grand Canyon and see a horrible gash in God's perfect creation, caused by sin.

So God likes flat terrain or something ? Mount everest is probably a horrible bumb in God`s perfect creation then.

God(s) have never written anything, just men.
