Hi Family,

Do you anoint your home?

Where do you anoint?

Why do you anoint?

~Natsumi Lam~

Yes I typically pray over the corners of my room which is my own safe space. I used to anoint the corners of my house with olive oil after praying over the olive oil.

To some it is controversial.
Everything about Christianity is controversial to some other Christian. Years ago, I read a post by some wackadoo here on CF saying it was sinful to read Sacred Scripture in anything other than Hebrew or Greek. He thought my English Bible meant that I had one foot in Hell. It was a very controversial idea to him.

This section (e.g., Controversial Theology) is meant to be about stuff that mainstream Christianity is, at best, a little uncomfortable with. The anointing or the blessing of one's home is mainstream practice no matter how much a scant minority might have a problem with it.

In the Eastern tradition it's common for the priest to anoint the walls of the house, as well as sprinkling Holy Water, when moving into a new residence.

In Orthodoxy this not only takes place when you move someplace new but annually after Theophany and before the beginning of Lent. There is a House blessing "service" with its own prayers.

In your opinion do you believe people do it just out of tradition or does it have God given power?

Why do they do it at those times?

both.

At happens after Theophany because it is at Theophany we celebrate Christ's baptism and the blessing of the waters.

The house blessing contains prayers of exorcism, too, so yes it does have God given power.

One Saturday I was attacked by an evil spirit in the house I was renting. I hid under my bed sheets. But the Holy Spirit quoted me Scripture saying "God does not give us the spirit of fear but of power" and had me rebuke the demon in my room. I wrestled against it for more than 6 hours. Then the Holy Spirit had me cast it into the cat, which leaped and ran into the basement upon the command. After that, the Holy Spirit led me down into the basement where I cast away the devil again, removing him from the entire property. Then the Holy Spirit had me touch all 4 corners of the property fence posts and pray for an Angel at all 4 corners. There's something about 4 corners of a property. Then God took me back inside and with Power reminded me of Luke 10:19 saying "Behold I give you power over serpents and scorpions". My whole body shook when He said it. The next day was Sunday and a woman came up to me in church and said "I have a Word for you.... Luke 10:19". It was a confirmation. I was greatly encouraged.

Do you really think The Holy Spirit would command you to cast a demon into your cat?

Yes. Just like Jesus cast them into the swine (Matthew 8:32). But then He had me cast it out cat and into the basement. After that, He had me cast it out of the basement and off the property towards the West. P.S. It was my roommate's cat, not mine.

Why? Where does the Holy Spirit have you cast the Devils?

Not into animals and especially not into pets of my roommate. In the Bible the demons begged to be cast into the pigs, in your situation the spirit you claim was The Holy Spirit told you to cast it into your roommates cat.

If I were you I would be careful about whether what you heard actually came from The Holy Spirit. Just raised a red flag is all.

I'm very careful. That's why God taught me how to "test spirits". In both cases, the spirit(s) went into animals and in both cases, the Holy Spirit of Christ commanded them to "Go" there. In the case of Jesus, the pigs ran into the sea and drowned. In my case, the cat ran downstairs where it was delivered. LOL. The people begged Jesus to leave because the pigs were their livelihood. They cared more about their pigs then the people who were possessed. I reason this is why Jesus let the pigs die. They had made pigs an idol.
