I just have one question and please try to answer in a paragraph. I don't understand when some of you have to write a book.
Why would so many people for 100's of years try to pull off this conspiracy that the earth is round? Why go to all that trouble? What reason to fool billions of people not to mention the amount of people that would have to be a part of it??

A non moving, flat earth with a dome over top, with all the other luminaries moving in the firmament above it... destroys this paradigm.

I have never heard of this in the Bible. Could you provide me the scripture where this is stated? I know that in Genesis 6:5 God says that the thoughts of man's heart is wicked from his youth; and Proverbs 4:23 we are advised by king Solomon to guard our hearts for from it are the issues of life; and Jesus tells us that a man's words come from the thoughts in his heart (Matthew 15:19, Mark 7:21).

I've said this so many time that I'm sure I've bored people to death over in the General Theology forums, but I always say that if there appears to be a contradiction in Scripture we should praise God because it gives us an opportunity to do a diligent study of His word and learn something new.

In this case, virtually all of the verses in Scripture that appear to show that God believes that the earth is flat have been systematically refuted by diligent exegesis. I don't wish to mount an extensive exposition myself, as there are numerous websites that cover it quite well.

One that has a wealth of information refuting some 200+ "flat earth" Bible verses is at creation.com. Plus, they have an extensive analysis of the scientific proof of the spheroid earth.

Just to satisfy the curiosity that I was talking about in my long post above, can you help me see how it is that you hold to a flat-earth belief despite all of the evidence against it? I realize I might not be asking clearly about what I'm wanting to know, so no problem if you don't want to do it.

Well my thoughts on it I shared in posts #25 and #26. Below are the passages in the Bible which describe the earth having four corners:

Revelation 20:8
Revelation 7:1
Acts 13:47
Ezekiel 7:2
Jeremiah 31:8
Jeremiah 25:32
Isaiah 43:6
Isaiah 41:9
Isaiah 11:12
Job 38:13
Job 37:3

Now in nature the only shapes which qualify as having four corners are the square, rectangle, rhombus, and trapezoid: which are all two dimensional plane figures. The circle of the earth referred to in Isaiah 40:22 refers to the same circle mentioned in Proverbs 8:27 and Job 26:10 which all point to the waters having a circle drawn around them. This brings up the problem of squaring the circle:

Now unless a circle or cube have four corners it stands that the Word of God does not support a round earth of any sort.

English translations try to hide this word from you and translate it differently, so you will probably have to look at Hebrew to verify it.

A Catholic priest came up with the Big Bang Theory so if you're trying to tell me it's atheistic you'll have to try harder. I like Catholics because they don't hold their hands over their eyes and reject science.

Not too long ago I sat transfixed as I watched an hour-long documentary on flat earthers. The thing that intrigued me the most was that they appeared to be absolutely normal in every way.

None looked like the Christopher Lloyd character in Back to the Future with his wild hair, wearing various contraptions on his head.

There are Christians who are astronauts so what's your point. The majority of the population believe in a globe earth, many Christians believe in evolution.. nothing surprises me.

A priest coming up with the big bang is no big deal.

Trying to fit all of this into a snow globe is impossible.

I'm not saying the earth is flat... I'm saying that I am not an evolutionist and the FE destroys it.... So... if the earth is a snow globe, the science world would never divulge it.

I find that most Christians who don't hold to the YEC ....only hold to the scripture being literal... if it is in regards to their salvation.

They will believe that Christ turned water to wine, fed 5000, walked on water, talked to the devil, healed sick, lame, deaf and blind, cured leprosy, stopped a storm, expelled demons, died and came back to life, ascended to heaven into a cloud...

But, will not believe in six literal days, a world wide flood, and other literal things in the bible..... because they will be going against mere men in lab coats and be ridiculed by their peers...

It's sad.

If it does, how can this be possible when there are several lunar eclipses in progress when the sun has already risen?

This topic is not a good argument. It is still one of my queries for both models but things don't "line up" pardon the pun, for either model..

Now that I have eaten. I can answer your posts clearly. The passages you cited do not say that the kidneys are the center of your thoughts. Rather they give the idea that the kidneys act as reigns and help us to understand that our mind is within our inner most being, a place deep inside of us. This connection between the mind, heart, and kidneys are experienced bodily all the time when we are faced with a difficult or trying decision: I've felt my kidneys act like reigns to my heart. Scripturally speaking we are exhorted to love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind (Deuteronomy 6:5). That being said I believe that our hearts are the center of our thoughts with the kidneys acting as reigns connected to our hearts.
