Flat earth beliefs are totally in error.

I guess by orthodoxy you mean, as a Christian, faith in God through Jesus, the Bible written by man but inspired by God, and the Holy Trinity. We are created in God's image and live in His created world (for me - the universe). I have no disagreement with any of that, unfortunately we have the problem of evil which has not been solved, and will not be solved until the Second Coming of Christ. In my old age I am leaning towards Christian Anarchy. We all have a choice.
The problem of evil is only a problem for atheists who believe all men are inherently good. There is no problem of evil in orthodox Christianity.

Do you know what the problem is? Its English. Here is an orderly list showing our best English translations.

1. 1537 Matthew's Bible
2. 1539 Great Bible
3. 1568 Bishop's Bible
4. 1769 King James Version
5. 1611 King James Version
6. 1876 Julia Smith Bible
7. Young's Literal Translation
8. New King James Version
9. Modern English Version
10. Revised Standard Version
11. English Standard Version.

All Bibles listed here translate Genesis one correctly even though the old English Bibles contain outdated grammar.

However, you see a list of 11 of our best English translation and only the Tyndale Bibles read closest to the Hebrew and Greek, and even they lack some. If you were younger I would give you this advice: Learn Hebrew, Greek and Latin and stop reading in English. Once you start learning the Bible in Hebrew, Greek and Latin, then you are offended by the English.

The Greek and Latin may be more important than the Hebrew. The Septuagint reflects what the Paleo-Hebrew manuscripts said. The Latin captures the meanings using words we are more familiarized with -- words like reptile terrae,,,,which transliterates as reptile earth or dinosaur earth. Other words like orbis which is used many times in the Latin. One thing is for sure, we need a new authorized English Bible, as our English Bibles are not translated good enough. Too many literal renderings that lose the meaning. Once the meaning is lost then the Bible is unreadable. Its no good for nothing except the flames.

There are no questions to be asked in the Hebrew, Greek and Latin. Though it might be more right to say Greek and Latin since we don't have any Paleo-Hebrew manuscripts and the Septuagint would be most trusted. And I do not mean English translations of the Septuagint. I'm talking about reading from the Greek of the Septuagint and Textus Receptus. Reading from the Masoretic Texts and the Latin Vulgate. There are no mysteries there. There is no problem of evil there. There is no dinosaur mystery and no dispute over the shape of the earth.

English is entirely the problem and its so bad that its gonna take all the most serious scholars and lots of time to translate our first English Bible. As of right now we do not have an English translation beyond William Tyndale. The Tyndale Bibles are the best and even they are not as accurate as the Vulgate. Perhaps had they not killed Tyndale and let him work his Bible would be flawless. Once he was executed that was the end of the idea of English translations.

I find English very offensive. I also find most translations unqualified, unauthorized, and incorrect. Its like Billy and Bob who just graduated Seminary say "Hey, lets make some money" -- so they crack open a few English translations and start from there. It becomes a translation of other English translations and there isn't anything from Hebrew or Greek manuscripts. But hey, some college kids just made some money and they did nothing to earn that money.

Final point and one pertaining to the topic. I have three Greek lexicons for the Septuagint alone. Yet none of them translate gyron/gyros better than a friend of mine from Greece who's actually a scholar in Greek. Go figure, a Greek from Greece who is a scholar in Greek. When you learn Greek this way you realize your lexicons lack some.

From the Greek word gyron comes gyroscope which is an instrument used to prove the eartrh is round. Gyron means rotation as much as it means round. But do we have a single Greek lexicon written that says, "Look dude, gyron means spinning ball earth, fast spinning ball earth, flying actually pretty damn fast on its circuit around the sun. The earth is round, a sphere, a fat globe and not a thin crust pizza shape earth. Its totally round. Yes, round means sphere/globe. Like [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse], right?"

The answer is no. We need in your face translations of the Bible and in your face lexicons that all start out with words like "Look dude, "

As far as I see it the English speaking world has been robbed since 1560.

I agree almost entirely with your post, FEZILLA, and as I have indicated, very informative.
When I mentioned the problem of evil I was, of course, referring to this world, not the spiritual world to which God's Word is guiding us. If we were all true Christians (Neitzsche said there has only ever been one true Christian, and He died on the cross!) there would be no problem of evil in this world. The devil will be destroyed.

So what you are saying is that in Christian anarchy we are to embrace the writings of Neitzsche who said "God is dead" and became one of the main philosophers of Naziism.

No thanks. I'll stick to my traditional church. I have no use for the obsolete writings of Neitzsche. I suppose Christian Anarchy hates Jews, too.

@FEZZILLA. Oh dear, you really are on a roll! All the words of man are fallible, even the words in the Bible written in the original languages, if we believe they were written by man, albeit inspired by God. But not written by God.
My Neitzsche quote was simply to emphasise that none of us are true Christians, of course most of his writings are obsolete and nonsense, and Christian Anarchists love everyone, as Jesus did.
We are all in sin and there is nothing we can do about that in this world. Studying the Bible in its original languages might help, but what we have to do is to simply accept Jesus into our hearts.

Look, we don't need anarchists or Nazi philosophers to teach us anything. I'm afraid there is nothing we can learn from an anarchist. And yes, I am a true Christian. Your definition that Christians must be perfect as God in order to be saved is not recognized by any ancients. Therefore, what is unsupported in tradition is not true.

All these radical Socialist sects of "Christianity" are the ones who need to read what they claim to believe. Nobody who is a Socialist is saved because Socialism is rebellion against God. A rebellion against God is Satanism. Anarchy is rebellion against obedience. God wants obedient children. Satan wants God's children to rebel. So there is no anarchy in Christianity. Just obedience.

@FEZZILLA. I think you really do need to calm down, you are not behaving as a Christian. To say we do not need certain types of people might take us back to the religious wars of centuries ago, and is still going on through the persecution of some by others who think their adversaries are not needed. I mentioned that there was a growing concern that the flat earthers might be inhibiting progress in dealing with climate change and environmental pollution, but I never said they, the flat earthers, were not needed.
I started this thread by suggesting flat earthers were talking nonsense but I do not think that anywhere in the thread did I say they were not needed. We are all human beings and God loves us all, even the Nazis. He is all powerful therefore He could have prevented the Holocaust but He didn't. He must have had a reason.

@FEZZILLA. I sincerely apologise but I am withdrawing from these exchanges. Many of your posts have been interesting and very informative, but I appear to have goaded you into making what I consider to be one or two quite inane statements. I could write a book in reply.
I am totally out of my depth concerning the original languages of the Bible, I fully agree with you concerning the English translations, and therefore in my immaturity and ignorance I only read the Good News Bible. It brings me, in my immaturity and ignorance, closer to the Word of God, who is Jesus. This is a spiritual connection, therefore I do not have to worry too much about the written words in any Bible or any language, nor whether or not they be inspired by God.

Sort of like the landing on the moon. Are they the same group?

Yes. Although, i do think most of the space images are computer generated and I do have my skepticism about us actually landing on the moon. I don't believe in a flat earth by the way, however I also have doubts on some things the government have "released".
