  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Flat earth beliefs are totally in error.

Please look at my post 78. I am not a literalist therefore I rarely quote Scriptures.
Thank you for your respect.God bless you.
And there's your problem: you're relying on your own understanding instead of allowing God to guide you into all truth with His Holy Spirit.

The very first mention of God is in Genesis 1:1. You can't believe in a literal God and then say He figuratively or allegorically created the world and everything in it; and then later believe He has a literal Son who created everything. Doing this ends up in you contradicting God and yourself which leads to falsehood.

Jesus was in the beginning with God as He is the Word of God and there is nothing made that was not made through Him. If you and others believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who created the world and all in it literally then it stands that you must believe the creation week is literal and all descriptions of the world and the things in it it are literal.

You see brother...your belief and attitude towards Genesis 1:1-2:3 shapes the way you look at all scripture following it and the world and everything in it.

My interest is in the interface between science and religion. For me there is no differentiation, science is one of God's gifts and we need to use it wisely. I wanted to join in on a thread on this subject, but there are so many that I am starting my own.
To begin, there is no way in the reality of our physical observation of the earth it cannot be a sphere. Anyone who argues against that are ignorant. No disrespect there, we are all ignorant when we do not know about something.
God gave us the gift of science, and science is telling us that the earth is a sphere.
This argument must be shelved,, unless God encourages us to continue it.
Getting sick of, most likely leftist punking Christians and Conservatives with this. Just trying to make everyone look stupid. No one believes in a flat earth. It’s just a fraud, someone having fun with others or like I said evil leftists trying to gain something politically. It hard for me to imagine someone having the time to perpetrate this hoax that there are people who believe the earth is flat. I guess they must be on the government dole and have nothing better to do with thier lives than getting attention from others in such a perverse way. Or like I’m speculating. Some leftist org with George Soros type money out there perpetrating a hoax to get their little lemming voters to believe there is a large body of anti-science Christians who believe the earth is flat. What better way to push The fake global warming agenda to give leftist elites the power to control every aspect of our lives? By perpetrating a hoax that the the people who reject the “science” of global warming also believe in a flat earth.
Yes I do believe there are people in the west who are really that evil as to pull a stunt like this.

Care to put your views against the Word of God? If so then please respond to my posts #25, #26, #35, and #41 of this thread where I give proof from scripture--and not my own reasoning--on what God says the world He created looks like.

I've said this so many time that I'm sure I've bored people to death over in the General Theology forums, but I always say that if there appears to be a contradiction in Scripture we should praise God because it gives us an opportunity to do a diligent study of His word and learn something new.

In this case, virtually all of the verses in Scripture that appear to show that God believes that the earth is flat have been systematically refuted by diligent exegesis. I don't wish to mount an extensive exposition myself, as there are numerous websites that cover it quite well.

One that has a wealth of information refuting some 200+ "flat earth" Bible verses is at creation.com. Plus, they have an extensive analysis of the scientific proof of the spheroid earth.

Just to satisfy the curiosity that I was talking about in my long post above, can you help me see how it is that you hold to a flat-earth belief despite all of the evidence against it? I realize I might not be asking clearly about what I'm wanting to know, so no problem if you don't want to do it.

I am beginning to regret opening this thread. The way posters are exposing their predjudices is very unsettling for me. As I have already said, all I can do is pray.
The FE discussions most always resort in displays of animosity which is why I rarely participate in this subject matter anymore. It's like the modern day version of the Scopes monkey trial. I'm a flat earther because I believe Scripture describes a flat earth covered by a solid firmament with too many contradictions in "science" which go against the scriptures. Whatever side of the fence you sit on, research for yourself and come to your own conclusion.

Didn't you expose your own prejudice in the title of your OP and your OP? It would be different if you would have said The Bible Says the Earth is Flat as this would not be prejudiced seeing that you would be able to support your claims with scripture. Before I even heard about flat earth I had no questions concerning the shape of the earth nor gave it a second thought, nor did I bother to care what the Bible says about the shape of the earth. When I did actually begin thinking about what the Bible says scientifically about the earth that is when I became more serious in my walk.

Brother I believe you are sincere in your walk and have your heart in the right place as do many other brothers and sisters I am not challenging you personally, rather I am challenging the very theories themselves. The first ten words of the Bible are often the most overlooked:

"In the beginning[...]" = Time (creation)
"[...]God created[...]" = Energy (Creator)
"[...]the heavens[...]" = Space (creation)
"[...]and the earth." = Matter (creation)

-Genesis 1:1

We see that before God created space and matter he needed to create time, and all three are subject to being temporal (i.e. have a beginning, middle, and an end): therefore everything stemming from one of the aforementioned three are subject to the same. And God being Energy is easy to prove once one understands that God is Light. For nature proves that energy is the only thing which cannot be created nor destroyed: therefore energy is eternal; light is eternal; God is eternal: for God cannot be created nor destroyed. And because God is Light and we see because of the light: the world is an idea created by the light of God and it is defined through His Word.

There has been no response to my views concerning my interpretation of the Word of God , post 28. I wonder why!

The devil is in control of our world, surely? Trump is an agent of the devil.
So.... do you think that Christians would have been better off with Trump in power.. or Hillary?

Probably because you basically stated your view... It's just information.. nothing more. Nobody has a retort. Period. This is due to them respecting your right to your view.

I just have one question and please try to answer in a paragraph. I don't understand when some of you have to write a book.
Why would so many people for 100's of years try to pull off this conspiracy that the earth is round? Why go to all that trouble? What reason to fool billions of people not to mention the amount of people that would have to be a part of it??

As hard as it may be to believe, people do honestly believe this stuff.
What is even harder to believe is that those most vocal in opposition to their view have the least evidence needed to prove them wrong.
