He's either hated or disliked because his behaviours invite it.

And AOC's behaviors don't?

I DO think she should be held to account in regards to her fact checking. But given her, let's be real, relatively small impact on the system as a whole (and INCREDIBLY, disproportionately smaller amount of time in service), certainly you could agree that similar numbers of fact checks to SHS doesn't make sense.

Sounds more like a double standard. No matter how long she's been in office (as I said, Trump was hated before even taking office), or her supposedly small impact on the system, she still has a "D" next to her name and her words represent the party and people she represents. If that's not true, then perhaps the people elected the wrong person to represent them.

Sure, but the Left is more likely to excuse missteps coming from a young person just starting out while the Right is more likely to excuse lies and insults coming from a mature man, well, age-wise anyways, in the highest office in the land. Go figure.

That explains why they elected Obama who, politically, was just starting out. That was used as a way to excuse just about everything he said or did.

What a fascinating falsehood because the ACA required everyone to have health insurance. And the only ones who screwed people out of it were Conservatives in states that refused to set up exchanges or shut down popular and successful ones like Kynect.

It actually didn't. Those who couldn't afford it had to pay a fine. That was Obama's way of helping them out.

They were helped a lot more by Conservative governors who refused to set up state exchanges especially in the poorest least insured states. If the exchanges had been implemented very few would have paid the fine.

Those states refused the money because it was only a temporary payment that the states would be on the hook for later on at much higher cost to those states.

And AOC's behaviors don't?
Wait wait wait.
You are comparing AOC and Trump right now?
Trump has been part of the cultural Zeitgiest for decades....DECADES. There is PLENTY of reason to feel vindicated and precise when discussing his antisocial tendencies. There has been a LOT of evidence to support them. Like it or not, Trump is a brash jerk. It seems that some people like him to behave that way but they get all uptight when he is called on it (oooo look! There's a double standard).

As for AOC, I asked ANYONE to explain to me how that was in ANY way becoming unhinged or melting down and nobody bothered. And it's ludicrous to argue it I think. She was reasonable enough to invite contradictory evidence. She indicated she was open to learning.
Did she insult someone? Did she use foul language?

Sounds more like a double standard. If that's not true, then perhaps the people elected the wrong person to represent them.
[EDIT:Those who ARE saying she shouldn't be held to account, ARE holding a double standard, I agree. Thankfully, there are few of those; myself and most on this sight are included I'd wager]
Double standard eh? Double standard. You think Democrat supporters have a double standard when we suggest that yes, it's appropriate for her to be fact checked but it doesn't make sense that she's been fact checked as much as the SPOKESPERSON for a serial liar. I don't think you understand what a double standard is.

If Trump grabbed your sister or daughters's genitals, would you have a double standard or would you think that perhaps was inappropriate?

The mere fact that I cannot predict this answer is a powerful indicator to me of how far America has fell. For goodness sakes, they sell "Trump can grab my **" shirts and people buy them and wear them!

The federal share started at 100% and eventually fades down to 90%. That's still a screaming deal.

 No, he had been a State senator for three terms as well as a US senator for four years before he became president. I don't know how you can still be so ignorant of his career after all this time...too much Fox?

That was used as a way to excuse just about everything he said or did.

Well, there's "Whataboutism" and then there's gross hypocrisy. The party that elected Trump really can't sit in judgement of politicians who are uninformed and post rants and get annoyed when questioned.

Just sayin'.

Why not?

Because it reveals them to be massive hypocrites. If that's what the GOP want us to think then bravo, they've done it!

It's just not something most of us feel is a "virtue". But considering that the "party of family values" has so soundly redefined "virtue" that now we know that cheating on every single wife one has ever had, even having unprotected sex with a inappropriate content star while your wife is home with your latest baby is considered down-right SAINTLY all bets are off as to what they consider "virtuous"! LOL.

Precisely! The fact is, conservative Trump supporters don't have an honest moral leg to stand on to point fingers in judgment at a liberal politician when they support and defend Donald Trump. It's not hard to see right through their virtue signaling and their feeble attempts at deflection.

No offense, but I don't see hypocrisy stopping the left from making any arguments, points, or statements. I could rattle off examples...but I shouldn't need to. I figured it was pretty obvious.

There's no party, no side of the political spectrum holding any moral high ground. No one is holding to a consistent set of values.

So the idea of "these people can't say these things or they'll be hypocrites!" seems a bit silly at this moment in history. It's already an ocean of hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle as far as the eye can see.

Yes it is obvious. We are talking about AOC's tweets and the complaints from the folks who actively support the liar-in-chief. We are talking about AOC's silly uninformed comments from folks who actively support the man who currently inhabits the White House but doesn't appear to even read, let alone understand simple concepts.

Alexadra Ocasio Cortez HAS NOT:

1. Defrauded people with a fake university
2. Conducted discriminatory housing practices and gotten charged by the US Government
3. Likely cheated on her taxes and helped her parents do so
4. Run several businesses INTO THE GROUND
5. Cheated on every single spouse she's had
6. Claimed she knew more than the generals about military topics
7. Threatened thermonuclear war against an unhinged dictator
8. Attempted to curry favor with ANOTHER dictator in order to enrich herself with a hotel in Moscow
9. Had just about ever member of her campaign hold secret meeting with hostile foreign power agents and then have them lie about it to Congress
10. Pushed 800,000 Americans out of their jobs (some of whom will NEVER see the backpay), forcing some to start doing things like ration their INSULIN
11. Mocked the disabled
12. Called an entire race of people "rapists"
13. Decreed several countries to be s-holes
14. Mocked an American POW
15. Denigrated the family of a fallen US soldier
16. Likely sexually assaulted a number of women
17. Supported the candidacy of a pedophile
18. Supported the judgeship of a possible sexual predator

The people who support Trump have ZERO standing to complain about ANY OTHER POLITICIAN LIVING OR DEAD.

Right....that's one example of hypocrisy.

Alexadra Ocasio Cortez HAS NOT:

1. Defrauded people with a fake university
2. Conducted discriminatory housing practices and gotten charged by the US Government

Ok....all true....she hasn't done those things.

3. Likely cheated on her taxes and helped her parents do so

I was with you until this one....but you're just talking speculation here as far as I know. There may be some evidence for this but he hasn't been convicted of any crime....so you're barking up the wrong tree.

4. Run several businesses INTO THE GROUND

And? Is that a crime now and no one told me? What does that have to do with anything??

5. Cheated on every single spouse she's had

? How do you know that? How well acquainted with her love life are you?

6. Claimed she knew more than the generals about military topics

We'll come back to this.

7. Threatened thermonuclear war against an unhinged dictator

Is this supposed to refer to "fire and fury"?

8. Attempted to curry favor with ANOTHER dictator in order to enrich herself with a hotel in Moscow

Ok lol. Good point.

9. Had just about ever member of her campaign hold secret meeting with hostile foreign power agents and then have them lie about it to Congress

Yeah....I'm not current in the investigation....so if you have evidence that Trump "made people lie" feel free to present it.

10. Pushed 800,000 Americans out of their jobs (some of whom will NEVER see the backpay), forcing some to start doing things like ration their INSULIN

Trump is hardly the first politician to be a part of a shutdown. I was alive during the Obama years.

11. Mocked the disabled

Ever?

12. Called an entire race of people "rapists"

That doesn't appear to have happened lol

Trump didn't say 'all' Mexicans are rapists

13. Decreed several countries to be s-holes

And? I get that's a tactless way to refer to those nations....but not exactly inaccurate.

14. Mocked an American POW

I've seen liberal posters on this forum doing that to a wounded war veteran because he put up a website for funding a wall.

15. Denigrated the family of a fallen US soldier

See above.

16. Likely sexually assaulted a number of women

See #9.

17. Supported the candidacy of a pedophile

I haven't heard that one....got a link?

18. Supported the judgeship of a possible sexual predator

So has every President if we're going by the standard of evidence against Kavanaugh. Technically, Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a "possible" sexual predator if you don't require any actual evidence.

The people who support Trump have ZERO standing to complain about ANY OTHER POLITICIAN LIVING OR DEAD.

Well let's take a look at AOC then....

1. Doesn't know the three branches of Government.
2. Doesn't know if her party's symbolic color is red or blue.
3. Doesn't seem to have any knowledge about the costs of legislation she supports.
4. Doesn't understand the working poor she claims to be fighting for....
Ocasio-Cortez wrong on several counts about unemployment
5. Doesn't seem to realize what her job is (apparently she thinks she signs bills into laws).
6. Doesn't believe the upper middle class exists.
7. Claimed that Israel is occupying Palestine...but couldn't explain what that meant.

Now I know that isn't a 16 point list (out of which you had maybe 12 valid points)....but keep in mind she's only been in the spotlight for a matter of months. Trump has recorded footage that goes back years if not decades.

Ocasio-Cortez is, quite frankly, unqualified and rather dumb.

For someone like me....who didn't vote for Trump....doesn't like Trump....and genuinely thinks the best thing Trump can do for this nation is resign.....

How can I possibly view liberals who not only defend AOC....actually praise her as if she's a sign of good things to come in the Democratic party? These are the same liberals who have been very vocal about how incompetent and unqualified Trump is.

They're hypocrites....every last one of them. If someone spends the majority of Trump's presidency talking about his lack of intelligence and ability, then fail to do the same when AOC shows up in the spotlight....guess what?? That person is a hypocrite....and it's not likely that I'll be able to take their opinions on Trump or any politician very seriously. After all, they apparently have no problem with an stupid politician getting elected....as long as it's on their side.

I'm going to have to disagree there.

Ignorance is a problem if her choices potentially affect the lives of millions. I mean, we can agree to that about any politician, right?

It sure is ironic that people will defend AOC or (almost) anyone else when they say something like she did, but if Trump says something, it's automatically labeled as attacking or blasting someone, or whining or complaining or having a meltdown or temper tantrum--regardless of what he said or how he said it.
The defense of AOC is of little interest to me. Way too hypocritical.

You mean that all those claims of "If you like your health plan/doctor, you can keep your health plan/doctor" wasn't embarrassing when it turned out to be completely false, even though it was his big selling point for his pet project?
