  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

Have you ever sang in choir?
No. I had the opportunity to sing with the other kids from Sunday school at Mass one weekend years ago, but I was too shy to do it.

Probably because of the dopamine hit you get similar to when you gamble. You spent money on something with uncertain results and you're just getting a rush when you open up the pack and see what you get.
I was thinking it’s something similar to that. Except it is a little less risky than gambling because you can trade duplicates if you have friends who also collect them (or duplicates can be made into a playing deck). But you never know what’s inside until you open them. :D

10 days until Christmas!!

So hows everyones week going? Mines going great.I've been shopping
and decorating like crazy lately and been having a fun time.
Sounds like you've had lots of fun! :) My mom and I did Christmas cards over the week and should try to get to baking and gift-wrapping soon.

There is just something exciting about opening a new pack of pokemon cards.... ^_^
There is. ^_^ And it always makes you happy if you get one you really like. I remember how happy I was the time I opened a pack of Pokemon cards and pulled out a Vulpix card. :)

Haha, I was just writing that I've had bad results with dna analysis sites. I sent away for an Ancestry dna kit and when I recieved the results I was pretty satisfied and I felt it added a different aspect to myself that was cool. But then in September they did a major update to everyone's dna because they recieved a lot of new data about dna from all the samples they collected. And the update changed a lot of people's results in major ways, and while mine wasn't overly dramatic I still didn't like the fact that it could change like that. It basically kept the top 2 the same roughly but then completely got rid of some of the minor ones and added new minor ones. And while they said such thing could happen... you didn't really expect things that have 3-6% to disappear completely.
I edited because I know you put effort into it all so my response just seemed kind of negative aha.
No problem. I don't mind. There's still a lot to learn about this, and it's hard to pin down because people are mobile. Although our distant ancestors didn't have cars and planes, they had horses, boats, and feet.

My boss had a similar experience. His first report showed something like 8% Askenazi Jewish ancestry, and now it's gone. The most fascinating aspects of my report are less than 3%. I'm aware that those percentages may change or disappear entirely.
