Q11. THE SEAL OF GOD WHAT IS IT AND HOW DO WE GET IT?
GOD’S PEOPLE ARE SEALED WITH GOD’S SPIRIT.
EPHESIANS 1:13 In whom you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after you believed, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise
2 CORINTHIANS 1:21-22 [21], Now he who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, is God; [22], Who has also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
...............
WHO ARE GOD'S PEOPLE THAT ARE SEALED WITH GOD'S SPIRIT?
JOHN 14:15-26 [15], If you love me, keep my commandments. [16], and I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; [17], Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.
REVELATION 12:17 [17], And the dragon was angry with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
REVELATION 14:12 [12], Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
REVLATION 22:14 [14], Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
NOTE: GOD’S PEOPLE KEEP ALL OF GOD’S COMMANDMENTS BY FAITH in God's WORD
...............
ARE THERE CONDITIONS FOR RECEIVING GOD’S SPIRIT?
ACTS 2:38 [38], Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
ACTS 3:19 [19], Repent therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord
1 JOHN 1:9 [9], If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
PROVERBS 28:13 He that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whosoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.
NOTE: Receiving God’s Spirit is conditional on seeking GOD’S FORGIVENSS in CONFESSION AND REPENTANCE of our sins and be baptized before we can RECEIVE the gift of God’s Spirit. God’s 10 commandments give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD AND EVIL; SIN and RIGHTOEUSNESS *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; JAMES 2:10-11; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172. If we break any one of them, we stand guilty before God of sin *JAMES 2:8-11 and need to seek God in confession and repentance of our sins and believing God’s promises of forgiveness and salvation from sin *ACTS 2:38; 3:19; 1 JOHN 1:9; 2:1; PROVERBS 28:13. LOVE is the NEW COVENANT promise of being BORN again *HEBREWS 8:10-12; 1 JOHN 3:3-10. LOVE is the fulfilling of God’s LAW in us as we have faith in his WORD *EPHESIANS 2:10; 1 THESSALONIANS 2:13; PHILIPPIANS 2:13; ROMANS 13:8-10 and is why JESUS says….
[18], I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. [19], Yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but you see me: because I live, you shall live also. [20], At that day you shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. [21], He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. [22], Judas said unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself unto us, and not unto the world? [23], Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man loves me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. [24], He that loves me not keeps not my sayings: and the word which you hear is not mine, but the Father's who sent me. [25], These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. [26], But the Comforter, who is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
NOTE: Receiving the Spirit of God is conditional on BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God’s WORD, REPENTANCE and CONFESSION of SIN (breaking God’s LAW) and being baptized and keeping God’s Commandments by faith as we walk in God’s Spirit. This is God’s WORK in us and walking in God’s Spirt we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh *GALATIANS 5:16. So if we are NOT BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God’s WORD and breaking his Commandments than God’s WORD says we DO NOT KNOW GOD and we DO NOT HAVE his SPIRIT.
1 JOHN 2:3-4 [3], And by this we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. [4], He that says, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
NOTE: This is the difference between the people of GOD and the people of the devil.
1 JOHN 3:3-10
[3], And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
[4], Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
[5], And you know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
[6], Whosoever abides in him sins not: whosoever sins has not seen him, neither known him.
[7], Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
[8], He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
[9], Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his nature remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
[10], In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.
NOTE: The difference between God's people and the people of the devil is that God's people are not praticing KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN. They are keeping God's Commandments.
...............
CAN WE GRIEVE AND LOSE THE HOLY SPIRITS PRESENCE?
EPHESIANS 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, by whom you are sealed unto the day of redemption.
PSALMS 51:11 Do not cast me away from your presence, and do not take your Holy Spirit from me
1 SAMUEL 16:14 But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and a distressing Spirit from the Lord troubled him
NOTE: We can grieve God's Spirit and God's presence will leave us if we break God's commandments and resist his Spirit by living a life of KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN (breaking God's Commandments)
...............
HOW DO WE LOSE GOD’S PRESENCE AND SPIRIT?
ISAIAH 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
NOTE: As shown already through the scriptures, RECEIVING the GIFT of God’s HOLY Spirit is conditional on BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God’s WORD. If we are NOT BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God’s WORD and breaking God’s Commandments and are in SIN we LOSE the presence of GOD. This is not to say that God gives up on us. He loves us and will convict us of sin when we do so but it is up to us to seek GOD in confession and repentance and FORGIVENESS by Faith before we can receive God’s presence again.
HEBREWS 3:7-11
[7], Therefore as the Holy Spirit says, Today if you will hear his voice,
[8], Harden not your hearts, as in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness:
[9], When your fathers tested me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
[10], Therefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
[11], So I swore in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest.
……………………..
CONCLUSION: RECEIVING God’s SPIRIT is CONDITIONAL on BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God’s WORD and by FAITH in God’s WORD seeking God in CONFESSION and REPENTANCE of SIN and being baptized in his Spirit walking in his Spirit in OBEDIENCE to God’s WORD. Walking in God’s SPIRIT we will not fulfill the LUSTS of the flesh *GALATIANS 5:16. God’s WORK in us is LOVE and all those who LOVE fulfill God’s LAW because they have God’s Spirit which is the NEW COVENANT promise *HEBREWS 8:10-12; ROMANS 13:8-10; 1 JOHN 3:3-10. God’s people keep ALL of God’s Commandments by faith in God’s WORD and are sealed with God’s Spirit *JOHN 14:15-26; REVELATION 12:17; REVELATION 14:12; REVLATION 22:14; EPHESIANS 1:13; 2 CORINTHIANS 1:21-22. If anyone is breaking God’s Commandments living and known unrepentant sin they do not have God’s SPIRIT and do not KNOW God because they are still in their sins and have rejected the gift of God’s dear son *1 JOHN 2:3-4; 1 JOHN 3:3-10; HEBREWS 10:26-27; HEBREWS 6:4-8; ROMANS 6:23. God only gives his Spirit to those who BELIEVE and OBEY his WORD *
ACTS 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to them that obey him.
My friends are you by God's grace and faith fulfilling the conditions for receiving God's Spirit and preparing yourself not to receive the MARK OF THE BEAST? If you find you are not than grieve not the Spirit of God and harden not your heart. JESUS stand at the door and is knocking on the door of your heart. Open the door to him and invite him in by confessing your sins and repenting. BELIEVE his WORD. In times of ignorance God winks at. He is calling us all to have a closer walk with him and to worship him in Spirit and in truth.
God's sheep hear his Voice (the Word)
May God bless you as you seek him through his Word.
