Is there a difference between fighting evil forces and study them?
For starter, you need to study the Bible, which is the word of God, and this is how you fight evil forces:

Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:10-17 NASB)

I don't disagree with your scripture, but what do you think it means.
How do you personally use that verse in your spiritual warfare.

Stay away from evil of any kind. Stick with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
You are really determined to abdicate your responsibility aren't you.
You deny what Jesus said and deny what Paul wrote, yet somehow seem to believe that is a righteous and wise stance.

Sticking your head in the sand only leads to getting your backside whupped.

No, staying away from evil is the only way. Concentrate on God alone. Ignore anything that is evil.

You still don't get it do you. Jesus commanded us to cast out demons, not avoid them!
No wonder the church is so weak, ineffective, and pathetic.

It's people who are weak and pathetic as they are quick enough to do the devils work!

Stay away from all evil. Avoid evil.

If demons need to be cast out then let those that can do so, do it.

Don't go looking for trouble. Stay close to God.

Apart from staying close to God, show me one scripture that backs the rest of what you say!

James4v7Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Jesus never told us to avoid evil, but to confront and resist it. Christians don't flee the devil, the devil flees from us, that is unless we turn and run away, then like any dog he will give chase.

Exactly, resist the devil! Don't go looking for him as that is what he wants! Resist all thoughts that lead to him. Resist anything that leads to him.

Exactly! Glad we agree.

No we don't agree at all.
Eph6v
11Put on the complete armor of God, for you to be able to stand against the schemes of the devil, 12because to us the wrestling is not against blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
The wrestling mentioned above refers to close in combat, not running and hiding.

13Because of this, take up the complete armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all things, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and having shod the feet with the readiness of the gospel of peace; 16besides all, having taken up the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,

OP asked a very broad question about "Spiritual warfare" and "Fighting evil forces", which are not just about casting out demons from a possessed person. There are also demonic influence, demon oppression (physical, mental or spiritual), demonic attacks from an outside position, deceiving spirits masquerade as the Holy Spirit, etc.

The passage I quoted is the basics and the foundation of how a Christian can equip themselves to face all kind of spiritual warfare. For example:

If you are not saved (helmet of salvation), how do you have power over the devil?
If you are not familiar with the word of God (sword of the Spirit), how are you able to distinguish which are lies from demons?
If you do not have faith (shield of faith), how are you able to believe that God has given you authority over demons?

If OP wants a more specific answer about spiritual warfare, we can always discuss further depending on what he wants to know.

There is a common trope on television and movies called "the guy in the chair." While the hero operative is out doing derring-do, there is a "guy in the chair" back at headquarters running the computers and the satellite cameras, hacking into all the computer networks, feeding the hero the information he needs to stay a step ahead of the bad guys.

When engaged in spiritual warfare, there is nothing a man can have read that will put him a step ahead of a demon. Not even the bible, because demons know the bible too well. They know each of us too well. They know our weaknesses, they know our secrets, they know our failures, they know things about us that we don't even know.

What we need is a real-time "guy in the chair" who can give us the right action to take at that moment. When challenged by a demon, it's the Holy Spirit who can say at that moment, "Don't answer that question--that's not the real question to be answered here and now...say this instead." Or He may say, "Be still, walk away."

But you're not going to hear the Holy Spirit when you walk into a confrontation with a demon thinking you know it all because you're read all the good books on the subject. He's going to blindside you and take you down, unless you've got a connection with our own omniscient "Guy in the chair."

Well then, tell me how you go about casting out demons. How do you identify these demons? Have you ever set eyes on one of these demons?

Well then, tell me how you go about casting out demons. How do you identify these demons? Have you ever set eyes on one of these demons?
Have you not read your bible?
I cast demons out just as is shown in the scriptures, by commanding them to go in Jesus name. And as Jesus himself said (below), it is the Holy Spirit that drives them out.

Matt12v28"But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

You will also note here what Jesus said, that driving demons out established the kingdom of God. This also means that in failing to drive demons out, believers and churches are actually facilitating the kingdom of Satan!
Driving demons out is not just the duty of pastors or specialist deliverance ministers, but
the duty of all who claim to be Christians!
Its time we stopped making excuses, casting demons out is a required part of that great commission!

The gospels show that the common people could readily identify when someone was demonised and ask Jesus or his disciples to cast it out. Sadly today, the so called enlightened Christians of the west would rather believe modern psychobabble than God.
They no longer believe in demons.

Additionally, Christians in the west who might read about demons in their bibles are then falsely taught by their leaders that demons can't touch Christians. This foolish ignorance can be seen in countless posts on this and other forums.

Thus, because of its total unbelief, the church actually empowers the demonic realm!

Have I seen a demon? Yes, a few times I have actually seen them, but most demons can be readily identified by their effects.
You can't see the wind, but you know its there by what it does.

Most demons are identified by common carnal characteristics. Thus if a man has problems with lust, it is very likely that he has a demon of lust. If he cannot control his anger, he is likely to have a demon of anger.
Even if he manages to suppress that anger, he can still have a demon of anger that requires constant suppression. Much rather it was cast out so he can live his life in victorious peace instead of struggling with inner uncleanness.

In school, like most young boys I saw inappropriate contentographic magazines which were passed around. I don't know who brought them in but they were there, and they did their demonic work on me. I didn't know any better and was soon dragged into wanting more and into trying to get hold of them for myself.

In my mid 20s when I made a commitment to Christ, I then found that the lust I had enjoyed came back to "haunt" me. I knew it was wrong but was powerless to stop the effects it had on me. Even in marriage it was still their along with all the guilt associated with constant failure to overcome it.

Finally I realised it was a demon. I got it cast out and the problems ceased.
That is an example of just one demon, but there are countless demons associated with every sin of man or women. And believe me, sexual sin like inappropriate contentography is not just the preserve of men. Women get caught up in romance stories which are filled with the same sexual issues. Just because their inappropriate contentography is hidden in words rather than pictures does not weaken its power to demonise them!

Feel free to ask me any questions on this subject. I will try to give a fair answer from experience and scripture.

I was going to make a thread about something related to this, but I saw this thread in 'New Posts' so I figured I would post it here

I don't know if any of you have had any experiences with sleep paralysis, but I've had a handful of experiences with it (varying in degrees of how frightening they were) and just woke up from one. I just wanted to share my thoughts and experiences with it

I believe sleep paralysis is caused by demons based on my own and many others experiences. I and many others have had success casting these demons away in the name of Jesus. I was especially bold and fearless in casting this one away and it left quicker than usual. It's amazing what power God has granted us!! But God warns us not to rejoice or have pride in our ability to cast out demos, but to rejoice that our names are written in heaven

Luke 10:17-20 - And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven

So I would say that we need to understand the enemy and study him/them to some degree, but I would be wary of giving Satan and his demons too much attention and going down that evil rabbit hole

Armour of God. Yes. Protect yourself. Pray, stay Holy. Stay clear of all evil. Run from evil dont persue it. Turn from evil ways etc. No need for combat if you are true in your faith and love of God. God will protect you!

Yes, we agree yet again!
No, there is no agreement whatsoever between you and me.
Your repeated words indicates a naively ignorant view of spiritual warfare.

Eph6v11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
You take the command to "put on of the whole armour of God" completely out of context. After doing that, you don't stand and fight but faithlessly run away. Hardly a spiritual response.

12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places.

The full context shows we are commanded to put the armour on in order to wrestle these powers, not run away and hide.
Wrestling indicates a close up hand to hand encounter of warfare. That is the only way we can overcome demonic powers.
