I know this wasn't directed at me, but I'd like to also answer. I think most people in unprogressive countries (for example, the Congo, the USA, Saudi Arabia, etc,) feel depressed, anxious, get easily addicted to things and so on, regardless of what they believe or don't believe. It is because of the general horrible society most people endure in these types of places.
How do you consider the USA unprogressive?

Ok, so I have another question.

Do aetheists think that all the people who pray and says that God answers their prayers in whatever way (not audibly) think we are just bonkers and praying to air?

Because billions of people of all types of belief in a God, it seems to me is incredulous

I wouldn't use the word bonkers, if prayer helps someone in a time of need then great, and it's not harming me in any way for people to do so.

While on a few occasions I am sad there is no perfect afterlife with our loved ones to be rewarded to us (although if you actually read holy books the afterlife talked about in them isn't very great). I am thrilled no one is going to be enterally tortured, punished with a possible ending to it, or in whichever way some writings say they will suffer.
Apparently all marriages will be annulled. :sigh:

(Matthew 22:30) For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
This is in reference to the story of a widow who had 7 husbands die on her.

I don't particularly like the implications of that. Are we all going to look like Metatron from "Dogma" :p

PC for me, I'm a bit of a technophobe though so I wouldn't really know the difference :)

Not sure there is that much difference...I don't want to learn another OS and I think pc is less expensive, especially the AMD I have always gone with so... that's all it takes for me to go PC.

That said, the question was mostly in fun considering the line of somewhat funny commercials presenting the question some yrs ago. :)

Yes, it doesnt exist, that's why it's bent.

Well, that one's easy to resolve. Ten bob notes exist (or used to):

It's the mythical "nine bob note" that's bent.

My question is: why does an atheist join a Christian forum?

As I've stated, I have become interested in other beliefs and worldviews, it seemed like a good idea at the time but I'm beginning to wonder now.

Well for myself, I wanted to learn more about how average Christians see things. There are plenty of theologians online but they don't answer many of the questions I have and are too impersonal to really learn about this religion. I've learned a lot from being here and I haven't been here long at all. Another motivation I have is to try to give people a view of an average atheist because we are very often misunderstood.

But many people believe that God answers prayer and provides conscience and other things. So you think statistically with all the people of faith, not just Christian are imagining it? The answer part, not the asking part.

Well, it would be a mistake to think that the people on CF were "average Christians."

I use that for lack of a better word. I guess I mean people who are not professionally evangelizing. I don't get to talk to people about this subject much in my day to day.

Because it's obvious that I'm not going to fit in here, I didn't come here for any other reason than to learn more about Christians views, and maybe try to give you a more positive impression of atheists.

People here have been pretty nice to me so far. It is good for learning though, even if you don't post.

Fair enough. Hope it's been fun.
