• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sin is a matter of ones personal conscience.

Only if you also believe that criminality is a matter of personal conscience.
If the law of the land can say that driving through a red light is wrong then a supernatural being laying down rules for our compliance with is not a matter of our opinion.

There are cases where you've
not heard
not understood what you did hear and
not applied what you've heard the way others want you to.

For example we are called not to be lazy,
still, you may think I am.

Good scriptures.. I do not stone or imprison or whip anyone.. :) But i give warning to people.. Warning of Gods judgement wich is far worse then anything men could do to us..

PS and in context the passage is talking about foods which we are no longer under OT kosher law.. It is not talking about Adultry Murder Thieft Fornication and like things..

So its only about our grocery budget? Are not using coupons a sin?
12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

Matthew 12:36-37
I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Jeremiah 17:10
“I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”

2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

You do what you think is right. I don't like similar warnings
so it is a sin for me to attempt to give warnings.

But if you enjoy being warned about your sins against God
then you are obligated to force warnings on others.

There is only one kind.
Disagree. Here are 3 different types:

1 - disobedience to the Law.

1 John 3:4 KJV Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

2 - falling short of God's glory. (fits the technical definitions of the original text words - archery terms)

Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

3 - doing something but not in faith.

Romans 14:23b
whatever is not from faith is sin.

It is not a sin to give accurate warnings... Since you leave what is right and what is wrong up to peoples personal preferences then how can you be sure your warnings are valid.. Since they stand on nothing but the quicksand of person human opinion..

It is not a sin to give accurate warnings.
It could be. It depends on the attitude it was given in; and whether it was done in true biblical faith or not.

So we have a member of the spelling gestapo who uses someone spelling mistakes in a vain attempt to undermine their theological points....

How pathetic is that?

I think it is extremely pathetic..

Comes from having a mother who was a grade school teacher (and my daughter says I have a mild case of Asperger's); so yeah - it can make me spelling KGB at times.

And here I thought Jesus was the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He (allegedly?) took upon himself the judgment that people, to this day, hold over the other guy's head.

There is only one kind [of sin].
That is acting or thinking without checking with God first.
Now you are completely contradicting yourself.

You can't say it's a matter of "one's PERSONAL conscience" and then say we have to check with God. Being a matter of MY personal conscience means I don't have to check with anyone.

That person would be incapacitated in some way, so they're not able to steer straight. "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do."

Or perhaps they just want to do whatever they want to do regardless of whether it's right or wrong, or how it affects others. Does that mean it's right? If that were the case, then someone who is angry with his neighbor could pull out a gun and shoot his neighbor, and then justify it in his own heart by figuring the guy had it coming to him anyway, so it's not a sin.

That seems to be a gift given to those without faith.

If Jesus died and rose again for people who are without faith, then how do you explain what Paul said about the fact that we are saved by grace through faith? Ephesians 2:8-9
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast."

I'd really like to know how you can explain this passage if what you're saying is true.
