  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why are they still asking?

Anti-Globalism = Fail
Economy = Fail (he's just riding on Obama's success)
Infrastructure = Fail
Trump claiming he signed the most executive orders = LIE
Getting out of the Middle East = FAIL
Ditching Nato = Fail
Fixing China Manipulating Currency = Fail

Except...
Bush's First Term had Good Approval
Obama Left with one of the Highest Approval Ratings and is still Globally a much more respectable and popular President.
Trump has one of the Lowest Approval Ratings yet and it hasn't been a year yet.
Trumps Polls seem to get constantly heading down.

Nixon left with a 25% approval during after Watergate for some perspective. Donald is Catching up with the lowest at 34%

Just 10% to go trump and you'll beat Nixon!

Well, in '72, '73, people all got their news from the 3 big networks newscasts and mostly from mainstream newspapers.

All of which which had only modest variation from trying to be evenhanded.

Today isn't like that. Today a large portion can have 'news' that is meant to merely support their preferred viewpoint, independent of what is happening.

With a lot of filtering of information.

So, I wonder if it's possible for 3/4ths of the people to get to the point of being aware of a wrong by a politician now.

We should be very glad if even just 2/3rds will. That's pretty good for us, at the moment.

Well, while I will say that the left-leaning media's treatment of Trump's initial address pertaining to the Charlottesvill debacle was less than fair and one could even say "they heard what they wanted to hear to support their narrative".

...the scrutiny over his words & actions isn't necessarily completely unfounded either.

In many ways, he did come across as trying to play both sides of the fence on the racial issues in America.

For the David Duke thing...he went on record numerous times (when he was trying to appeal to the Reform Party, which is a different breed from the Alt-right) as saying "he's a problem", "he's a racist", "he's a bad guy", etc... However, when asked about him when he was trying to appeal to the alt-right types, he played naive and claimed he didn't know who he was as to not have to publicly disavow him and potentially lose votes. It's not as if David Duke is a flash in the pan public figure. He's a well-known person and if you knew about him then, you certainly didn't "forget who David Duke was" a few years later.

For Charlottesville, it came across as trying to play both sides on his initial statements. He wanted to condemn violence, but to hedge his bets, it seemed as if he was trying to circumnavigate around having to condemn a group, by name, that he knew were supporters in 2016 and could likely be supporters again in 2020.

...and for the record, in the original threads about that incident, I openly stated that he wasn't wrong in the notion that both sides have blame in that exchange and that Antifa is no better than the Alt-right when it comes to some of their actions and tactics.

However, you have to be asleep at the wheel if you think that the "make both sides equally complicit" approach is a good strategy right after the actions of one side resulted in casualties.

Imagine for a moment that Obama's initial address after the Garland Texas attack was putting blame on "both sides". Sure, we all know that Pamela Geller wasn't innocent in that she was definitely provoking and instigating...however, how well would that have gone over had Obama tried to put equal blame on Geller (and the people having the Draw Muhammad contest) that he put on the two radicals who showed up with rifles looking to shoot people? He would instantly drawn thousands of accusations of being an "Islamic radical sympathizer".

He was 70 year 7 month 7 day old when he was elected for a reason , God thrown him into this Babylon called America among wicked and they try to eat him alive .

For the record, this isn't true. It's more like 70 years and 5 months.

Not that it would mean a thing if it was.

"The Secret Service has the funding it needs to meet all current mission requirements for the remainder of the fiscal year and compensate employees for overtime within statutory pay caps," he said in the statement. "The Secret Service estimates that roughly 1,100 employees will work overtime hours in excess of statutory pay caps during calendar year 2017. Our agency experienced a similar situation in calendar year 2016 that resulted in legislation that allowed Secret Service employees to exceed statutory caps on pay."

The statement continued: "To remedy this ongoing and serious problem, the agency has worked closely with the Department of Homeland Security, the administration, and the Congress over the past several months to find a legislative solution."

Why are they still asking?

Given the president's history of concocting fables, distorting truth, and outright lying, few people have any faith in his sincerity -- especially when he backpedals on his denouncements days (if that) after making them.

It isn't fake news. They literally didn't "Bankrupt" them in a business sense, they just don't have the funds to pay them for overtime and trips. And yes the Agency is in fact asking for more money all msm outlets also mentioned the same thing the link posted.

It is an ongoing problem and has been for almost a decade. It did happen faster under Trump, but it had less to do with the number of trips and more with his larger family.

Trump say opposite things many times. So how to decide?

Look at statement from Nazi and KKK. They love what Trump say and do. That should be hint -

“Trump comments were good,” wrote the Daily Stormer, a leading American neo-Nazi website associated with the so-called “alt-right” movement. “He didn’t attack us. He just said the nation should come together. Nothing specific against us,” it said.

“He said he loves us all,” the site continued. “No condemnation at all.”

Thank you President Trump for your honesty & courage to tell the truth about #Charlottesville & condemn the leftist terrorists in BLM/Antifa

Reality say Economy is slowing down. Most indicator steady from Obama but USD losing value and deregulation means pay for cleanup pollution later for damage and profit today.

Um... no offense, but I don't think anyone should take economic advice from Greece. :congrat:

I have problem that at first press conference Trump specifically asked by press if he condemns Nazi and KKK and White Supremacists (Said maybe as one group but meaning clear). He refuse to say anything. When president refuse to condemn those group that say all we need to know. Is how my thinking goes on subject but maybe wrong.

Maybe the President could rebate a portion of his company's profits made off the Secret Service and other agencies that may be renting from Trump property.

Him renting them property is one of the most asinine things he's done.
