Simple question: "What sends a person to hell...?"

Comments...?

God Bless!

When the over-all church understands and embraces the Biblical concept of "righteousness" - we'll change the world. Behavior is the fruit of righteousness, not the root. Behavior doesn't send us to hell according to the scriptures.

Religion has made it all about behavior, and has misrepresented God to the world. Read Romans 1:16-17 to understand the foundation of the gospel.

The only means of salvation is thru the shed blood of Jesus as sacrifice for our sins. Anything added to this is 'works'.
When we sin, we can be chastised by God but that sin will not send us to hell because our sins past present future were paid for. When we sin, God will deal with us but we are always in the palm of His hand.
So, what sends you to hell? Unbelief and rejection of Jesus the Savior.

If You do not know Christ Jesus, if You have not forgiven those who has sinned against You, if You have not turned away from Your sins and repented. If You have no wish to live a pure life with God. If You love sin and hate godliness in this life I believe You have to ask The holy spirit to show You where it went wrong in Your life and how You can find Peace in God again.

Honestly If I had a pure heavenly kingdom and no sin had ever entered it, I would make sure not a pack of burglars would take over the place one day. So I would want to know the people pretty well that I let in. They have to be forgiving and merciful and not greedy.

As I said, sin sends us to Hell.

We would all go to Hell, but God sent Christ to come and grant us salvation.
It is only through Christ that we can be forgiven, as it says, all sins will be forgiven, if your honest enough to confess them.
This might not seem a complete answer, but I think it is the most accurate: the Bible talks about the judgement and judgement day, when Christ judges the world. Christ died to save the "sins of the whole world" so he can forgive whomever he wants to and condemn whomever deserves it. He gives us lots of insight in his word on what will bring which judgment, but if it were all pat there would not need to be a judgement nor a judge. A computer could do it ;) and a "throw them in hell" machine.

I'm new to this forum. So bare with me as I learn how to communicate this way.Maybe this is too simple an answer but if my salvation is through excepting Jesus as my Lord and saviour. Then it makes sense that not excepting Jesus would be the only reason for going to hell.I dont believe that after excepting Christ that we are under the Law.It is a new covenant.Salvation is a gift. Therefore if I sin I am forgiven...The debt was paid in full by the presious blood of Jesus

In the most straightforward sense, death.
"Hell" is the grave.
In SOME cases, it is discussing 2nd death... the utter destruction reserved for those resurrected, and judged wicked.

2 Peter 2:20-22 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

There is no old covenant so no one can be "under it". Besides, that covenant was for the *nation* of Israel.
And for what it's worth, there is no hell as traditionally taught.

"The wages of sin is death." That means ALL sin, from the greatest to the smallest. Every single person is guilty and unworthy and the penalty for sin must be paid as a person with sin cannot stand in the pure presence of a perfect God and live.

Since God loves us and wants a relationship with us, he resolved the problem by sending Jesus to save us from this death. He himself would pay the penalty for our sins so that we don't have to. We will be washed clean in the presence of God through Jesus, our Advocate at the throne of God.

However, God gave us free will, so we still must choose to accept this gift of Jesus by confessing our sins to him and asking for forgiveness, and that we believe in him and what he did.

If we choose not to accept, we cannot stand in the presence of a perfect holy God, not because God hates us and does not want to save us, but because he gives us the choice through Jesus to either choose to be with him or *not* to be with him.

It's up to us. We are saturated with sin in a sinful world and cannot become righteous before God on our own. We cannot do anything to work for or earn it. We must accept Jesus. That's what keeps us from hell.
Couldn't have said it any better!!!!Well said,

Actually, there are MANY old covenants, some of which are still in effect, and some which have been fulfilled already, so are no longer in effect.

This is certainly true of the Mosaic Law.

For what it's worth: Hell is not a place but a state of the mind.
My best
Isn't that so true, I wish all those miserable people would or could realize that, and it, that state of mind, is the real sin... That makes you sin...

God Bless!

I was like them once... Is it those that die in that state of mind, stay there when they die...?

Repent in it's simplest form means, "A change (of the state of?) mind..."

Their sin and unbelief. That's why we need Jesus and His atoning blood/perfect life
