Idk the best place to put this, but here I go.

What is your thoughts on Freemasonry?

I have a relative who is a Freemason and I considered joining after he told me what they do. After some exploration into their beliefs and how many Chrisrians are against it, I'm now reconsidering.

They do not show preference towards any religion and accept all as truth. I can see why this would concern Christians, but it seems that the Freemasons are trying to avoid showing favor towards any religion and respecting all equally.

I guess this is only an issue when you consider the verse "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers."

I've read that they have their own plan for salvation, but Idk how true or accurate that is.

Imo, I think one can be a Christian and a Freemason, but there are definitely things one should be careful about.

Also, just about every organization, even churches has believers mixed in with unbelievers.

The problem being is that in trying to not put any religion above others, you must then end up denying the fact that only through Jesus is one saved. As a Freemason, you can never say test. In other words, eventually, you must deny that Jesus is the way the truth and the life and that He alone died for our sins. Are you willing to do that?? Even if everything else they did would be great and very humanitarian, are you willing to deny Christ to be with them? Or would you end up hearing these words:

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Freemasonry is a secret society inside of a secret society.
The lower echelons generally support the notions of theism and claim that both the Bible and Koran are holy books.
They also mix quite a bit of pagan symbolism into the mix.
Those who reach 30 degree or higher are introduced into the "inner mysteries" which in part is that they truly
support a belief system that most closely resembles Luciferian Gnosticism.
That being that through his own efforts a man may become god-like through the learning of hidden knowledge (Gnosticism).
They also hold that there are two deities, Jehovah who is kind of an idiot and is responsible for the misery in the world, and Lucifer, who
is the "bringer of light" who brings knowledge of hidden things to mankind.

Avoid it like the plague. You can't be a Christian and a Mason.

They also flatly deny being a religion despite the obvious. Not only they can conflict with Christian beliefs, they also lie.

The worst part is that they actually believe it to be the truth. Looks like there's a spell that took firm hold of them.

FP, I'd probably stay away from Freemasonry if I were you, especially if I wanted to remain a faithful Christian. If we take Freemasonry and Christianity at even just an ideological level, it's not hard to see that these two don't really mix ...

You said yourself that, "[Freemasons] do not show preference towards any religion and accept all as truth. I can see why this would concern Christians, but it seems that the Freemasons are trying to avoid showing favor towards any religion and respecting all equally." Well, despite the apparent "effort" to respect all equally, when Masons say that they "accept all as truth," then they are directly going against at least the first three commandments, not to mention the Shema.

You might want to remember, too, that there is a reason George Washington got up to leave before communion each time he attended the local church with his wife ... o_O

And yes, in the Church, there are Tares among the Wheat. But, what is God's ultimate action going to be against the Tares? We know what the answer to the Tares will be, and it isn't going to be one of "accommodation." o_O Neither should you, as a Christian, accommodate Masonic ideology.

Peace,
2PhiloVoid

Freemasonry goes onto the part of the Bible which conveys don't worry about the things done in secret, and that it's a shame to talk about it, because it will be brought to the light anyways. However, because they work in secret, don't join them.
There is a modern philosophy though which I think is just absolutely stupid "we work in darkness to serve the light" don't buy that. Even the Bible says they do not know the light which is in their very midst.

I've decided against it.

The biggest problem is that the secretive part. Not only that, they literally kill if those secrets are brought to light. Any secret worth killing over isn't something in line with Christianity.

Except they don't. I can accept that not everybody agrees with the teachings of Freemasonry or really understand why men become Masons. But the one thing I think all Christians especially need to do is make sure that their criticisms are based in truth, not conspiracy theories.

You can toss aside all the conspiracy theories and think only about all the good they do and how you must believe in a Supreme Being in order to join and they want to respect all religions to join which sounds great. But it is like the US government now--in everyone's efforts to recognize all religions you end up denying the Christ. At these lodges, one can not mention Christ, or pray in His name. You can not say that Jesus is the only way to be saved, you have to accept that Hinduism saves, and Islam and all of them are equal. You then must exclude Jesus from your life when you are with them. Is this what Christians are to do---Leave Jesus at the door until you come back out?? If you cant take Him with you, do you go in without Him anyway? They believe that through their peeling away of false ideas you can reach enlightenment and become like God--Jesus is not needed, be a good Mason and you will reach the ultimate achievement of being a perfect human.

This is a freemasonry site, you can read the Handbooks for yourself. You can't copy/paste from it.

THE ENTERED APPRENTICE'S HANDBOOK by J.S.M. WARD - A masonic book online

Bacchus died, and rose again
on the Golden Asian Plain;
Osiris rose from out the grave,
and thereby mankind did save:
Adonis likewise shed his blood,
by the yellow Syrian flood,
Zoroaster brought to birth
Mithra from his cave of earth.
And today, in Christian lands
We with them can join hands.

Is this for Christians to recite??

Actually you don't have to deny Jesus or believe that other religions are the path to salvation. And honestly in many lodges I have been to, people do pray in Jesus' name, even though that is against Masonic principles. You can be a Christian without trying to convert everybody you meet. And apotheosis is not remotely a part of Masonic teaching. I do understand that pluralism can be a challenge for some, but I'm not automatically assume that somebody is not worth interacting with just because he doesn't follow Jesus.

Pluralism is a challenge for anybody who prefers truth as his standard.
Stating that conflicting paths are all equally valid is exactly the same as stating that they are all equally invalid.

You can believe there is only one correct path while accepting that others might follow different paths.

They can follow whatever they want, or not follow anything. Their following something does not make it true.
I have found that the vast majority of people follow whatever strokes their vanity.

And did I ever say that them following something makes it true? I sit in lodge and I am convinced of the truth of God coming to us as Jesus of Nazareth. Across from me can be a Muslim who is equally certain that Mohamed PBUH is the final profit of God and that God is one and as such cannot have a Son. But in lodge we are able to let the others follow what they believe is the path to truth while embracing our path.

Is that our path?

Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Evangelism is the mission of the church, that is true. However our every single encounter with people doesn't have to be trying to convert them. The Holy Spirit does that, while i do my part by trying to live as a good Christian.

Evangelism is the mission of every believer. It's one thing to not be able to fulfill that command because of governmental persecution and laws, quite another to willingly put ourselves into such positions. And to recite things that are not in agreement with what Jesus taught.

Is this something you feel upholds Christian principals and can be recited? This is in the apprentice handbook.

Yeah I have never heard that before in my life. But where does it say that we cannot live with people of different faiths.
