  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I never made the claim. You made the claim Jewish or Christian religious figures were not there - with no actual evidence. The burden is still on you.

The fact the school couldn't produce the evidence you're saying I need to produce, actually supports what I've said in my posts.

You provided no evidence.

Why should I waste my time trying to search for evidence that supports your claims because you're too lazy to do so?

Jumping to illogical conclusions is your bag, not mind. I really don't care what their reasons are for not providing information to people like Starnes, and their refusal is not evidence.

You mean you don't care if they aren't providing it because it doesn't exist...

Says you.

:yawn1:

Now you are out of ideas on how to counter me.

You do realize you're asking for negative proof...

Again, you have run out of ideas.

You're asking for me to prove a negative, which is a logic fallacy...

Future Common Core math questions coming to a school near you.

Achmed has slaughtered hundreds of infidels to gain admittance to paradise and 72 virgins, but on one fast day during Ramadan, Achmed forgot to fast. How many more infidels must Achmed Slaughter to make amends?

a. 100
b. 10
c. Just one
d. It doesn’t matter; Achmed still gets admittance to paradise, but only gets 68 virgins.

Omar has four goats that he wants to use to purchase a six year old girl to make his wife. The girl’s father demands six goats, one for each year of age. How can Muhammad solve this problem?

a. Omar will just have to be like other pedophiles and pay the price of six goats.
b. Omar can give the four goats and promise that shell will be the most famous wife.
c. Omar will have to wait until he has six goats and the girl is a respectable age for marriage.
d. Omar can declare the father is apostate from Islam, behead the father, take the girl, and keep the goats.

Can you think of any benefit for them not to have released such evidence when it was requested?

Why give Starnes the feeling he should be taken seriously? I doubt he's a blip on anyone's radar.

At this point, releasing anything would be suspect, because it's honestly taken too long...

This is the same logic that ruled every Birther with a conspiracy theory -- Obama releases his birth certificate; it's a forgery -- he doesn't release it; it's a coverup.

The world is full of people who do not deserve attention -- Why is it surprising that Starnes should be considered one such person?

You're trying to dodge the issue.

It has to do with the amount of time it took for him to release it. If it had been released immediately it would have shown that the birthers were idiots, because he waited so long people started to wonder if the crazies were actually right for once.

The world is full of people who do not deserve attention -- Why is it surprising that Starnes should be considered one such person?

You're trying to dodge the issue.

The issue is that I can think of a couple of dozen reasons why the School Board didn't respond to Starnes (assuming they didn't; we only have his word on that), so why are you immediately buying into the only possibility that fits a specific agenda?

...or did I just answer my own question?

It has to do with the amount of time it took for him to release it. If it had been released immediately it would have shown that the birthers were idiots, because he waited so long people started to wonder if the crazies were actually right for once.

I never wondered -- I knew they were crazies.

Were you at all convinced?

---somewhat off-topic ---

Actually, I think that the timing was perfect.

Confucius said, "Don't use a cannon to kill a mosquito." You only get one chance to make an impression with the Birth Certificate -- so make it count.

The Birthers were (and in all fairness are, since some of them still aren't convinced) idiots, but there's nothing to gain by exposing a few on the fringe.
No, they're small fish -- you need to wait until you get a big fish on the line... a fish named Trump, for example.

You think it was a coincidence that the Birth Certificate was released as the rumors began to build up steam that Trump -- himself an outspoken Birther -- was considering a run for the Presidency?

Before the BC was released, Trump was a popular figure with the potential to enter the race, or at the very least, a fundraiser who would've had the ear of every Conservative nominee... after the BC was released, he was just another one of the idiots. His political cred was reduced to zero, and he scurried back into his tower.

Don't get the wrong idea; this wasn't a plan specifically to discredit Donald Trump -- it could've been anyone, but he was just the first big fish to take the bait.

Timing, Garfield... it really is everything.

I said this to USincognito, and I'm going to tell this to you. Drop the Saul Alinsky tactics.

USincognito didn't say this to you, so I will. If you cannot address my points and instead must resort to personal attacks against me, I will report you.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't make a seperate post, and would have addressed both you and USincognito at the same time.

Todd Starnes, whether you like him or not has, is part of Fox News, you're telling me that the School Board didn't think it was worth their time to address a question from the most watched cable news network on television?!?!? :waaah:

I never wondered -- I knew they were crazies.

If that was Obama's motive, then he's a very petty individual, to wait for the moment to humiliate the most people that he possibly could (average Americans), just to benefit himself politically...

Going after someone running against you is one thing, but actively trying to humiliate average Americans who are critical of Obama's policies is an unprecidented new low for an American President.

USincognito didn't say this to you, so I will. If you cannot address my points and instead must resort to personal attacks against me, I will report you.

Look I understand if you weren't thinking of using Saul Alinsky tactics, but you were personally attacking Todd Starnes, specifically you were using ridicule (which is rule 5) instead of addressing what was brought up in his article.

“Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. -- Wikipedia concerning Rules for Radicals

I'm also going to say this right now, if you're offended by something I've said, you should ask for clarrification or my reasoning, only thing threats do is tick me off.

I guess the board didn't realize the gravity of the situation!

Shall we review?

Substitute Jesus for Mohammed, and we'd be seeing the mainstream media going bonkers over this...

In this case, that did not happen.

What we have in this case is the right wing media going bonkers.

For good reason, especially since we now have the Feds instituting itself into the decisionmaking process for school curriculum.

It would seem that the School Board doesn't follow Fox News as devoutly as one would like them to.

If they don't think Starnes is worth talking to, that's their belief -- and we've spoken at length on a certain other thread how important beliefs are, remember?

If that was Obama's motive, then he's a very petty individual, to wait for the moment to humiliate the most people that he possibly could (average Americans), just to benefit himself politically...

First of all, I doubt that Obama personally made the call -- politicians have people who do that -- campaign managers and whatnot.

They had to be smart enough to realize that they've got a great political weapon here -- but one they can only use once. They picked their shot carefully and took it.

Going after someone running against you is one thing, but actively trying to humiliate average Americans who are critical of Obama's policies is an unprecidented new low for an American President.

I wouldn't call the Birthers "average Americans" -- since a lot of them remain unconvinced, they seemed pretty sub-average to me

The whole Birther movement was a political tactic -- they have nobody to blame but themselves for buying into it.

Look I understand if you weren't thinking of using Saul Alinsky tactics, but you were personally attacking Todd Starnes, specifically you were using ridicule (which is rule 5) instead of addressing what was brought up in his article.

Clearly you are more familiar with Alinsky's tactics than I am -- but that's not important now. What is important are the rules of the forum -- address the post, not the poster.

I'm also going to say this right now, if you're offended by something I've said, you should ask for clarrification or my reasoning, only thing threats do is tick me off.

Not a threat; a statement of fact.

If it's so 2008, why are you using those tactics...

You are, as usual, very confused.
A. I'm not using any tactics.
B. The ony things I know about Alinsky are from Wikipedia.
C. You, as you do quite often, get a meme in your head and repeat it ad nauseum as if it had any relationship to the conversation or topic at hand.

As I pointed out already, he isn't the only source...

Awesome. That has nothing to do with the fact, nor does it diminish in the least, the fact that Lying Todd Starnes is a liar and a propagandist. He's also a hypocrite.
http://www.christianforums.com/t7818711/

Considering the seriousness of the charge and the ease of being able to refute the charge if they had released the documents requested, suggests that the documents don't exist.

I know. It's very serious that children are being taught vocabulary.

:sput::hahaha: I'm really glad I wasn't drinking a soda when I read your comment.

You can thank the fact that you evolved from a fish for throat hardware that doesn't allow you to breathe and drink at the same time.

Fantasy on your part.

The only hysterical reaction is from the Todd Starnes, Brian Fischer, Sean Hannity and the weak-willed sheep who get led by these propaganda artists.

Yeah yeah, we all know you don't like Todd Starnes, now how about you address the issue instead of ranting about how "evil" Todd Starnes is.

I know. It's very serious that children are being taught vocabulary.

It's called propaganda, USincognito... I don't have a problem with teaching vocabulary, I do have a problem when they are injecting ideographs into it.

You can thank the fact that you evolved from a fish for throat hardware that doesn't allow you to breathe and drink at the same time.

Whatever...

Fantasy on your part.

So much for the argument on another thread that people of different religions are treated the same as Christians...

Better put your PJs on then slugger.

Yeah yeah, we all know you don't like Todd Starnes, now how about you address the issue instead of ranting about how "evil" Todd Starnes is.

Where did I say Lying Todd Starnes is "evil" (scare quotes or otherwise)? Why don't you quote me where I said that or I'm going to report you for flaming and goading me.

As far as addressing the issue? What? The school board isn't interested in dancing for Lying Todd Starnes when he tells them to. So what? He's a talking head who blathers on talk radio. I would hope they would react the same if Mancow Muller or Mike Golic demanded they do something.

It's called propaganda, USincognito...

Correction - GJL and like minded individuals are calling it propaganda.

I don't have a problem with teaching vocabulary, I do have a problem when they are injecting ideographs into it.

Neat!

Whatever...

I forgot you're a science denier. My bad.

So much for the argument on another thread that people of different religions are treated the same as Christians...

I have no idea what you're talking about. If you could clarify I'd appreciate it, if you can't I'd appreciate you not lying about me as much as you do.

I'm just getting bored with your repetitiveness. especially since you don't address the issue.

What am I supposed to think when you keep calling Todd Starnes a liar, that he's this or that... You're implying that he's "evil" in your view, the tone you convey via the choices in words indicates that.

As far as addressing the issue? What? The school board isn't interested in dancing for Lying Todd Starnes when he tells them to. So what? He's a talking head who blathers on talk radio. I would hope they would react the same if Mancow Muller or Mike Golic demanded they do something.

You're only proving my earlier point...

Correction - GJL and like minded individuals are calling it propaganda.

I pointed out what form of propaganda it falls under, how about instead of attacking me you actually try reading...

You're admitting your earlier comment was off-base then?

I forgot you're a science denier. My bad.

Any other juvenile personal attacks?

I have no idea what you're talking about. If you could clarify I'd appreciate it, if you can't I'd appreciate you not lying about me as much as you do.

I never said you were the one that made it, I was just making a general comment since some of the people in the thread I'm referring to are participating in this topic.

So you have a reference.

And so the thread has successfully been turned from the Common Core worksheets to a debate about the source.

Where have I seen that tactic advocated before?
In every thread in A-P where faults in progressivism/liberalism/socialism/marxism have been factually and nakedly exposed.

So I guess we can assume liberals are okay with Religions being pushed in school as long as it isn't Christianity.
