To Visionary -- I think the idea of the thread was to mock whatever God says on that subject in the name of "not being serious" ...

Did I miss something??
There are those who do not take what God says seriously. But if you think the idea that I had when I started the thread was to mock whatever God says ... on any subject [for that matter] ... then that is where the other posters have mislead you.

God told Adam and Eve that they could eat from any tree in the Garden except for one. God tells us that all foods are clean:
And he called the people to him again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand: There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.” And when he had entered the house and left the people, his disciples asked him about the parable. And he said to them, “Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.)

Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. Genesis 9:3

God gave Noah no restrictions on what he could eat.
At the time of Noah, the knowledge of what is clean and unclean among the animals, was known. Clean animals are known as "food". Unclean were not. Before flood, Noah was like Adam and instructed on a vegetarian diet. Clean animals were used in sacrifices.

Nothing about ham here:

Acts 15:22-29 (the decree from the Jerusalem Council)

22 Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas who was also named Barsabas,[e] and Silas, leading men among the brethren.

23 They wrote this letter by them:

The apostles, the elders, and the brethren,

To the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia:

Greetings.

24 Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, “You must be circumcised and keep the law”[f] —to whom we gave no such commandment— 25 it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who will also report the same things by word of mouth. 28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: 29 that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality.[g] If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well.

Farewell.

So, the words "everything that moves" in Genesis 9:3 only meant clean animals?

No offense, but I'm not buying what you are selling.:)

In Gen 6 and 7, 8 and 9 we are reminded that they had the distinction between clean and unclean animal before the flood and afterward.

We also know that not all plants are good for food. Some are edible and some are not. In Gen 9 we have "AS I gave the green plant".

Christ did not die on the cross so that we can eat rat sandwiches. That is not the great "mission" that the Gospel is trying to accomplish.

Rats are pretty much "unchanged" before the cross and afterwards.

And so it is that even in Acts 10 long after the cross Peter affirms the fact that he is not eating rat sandwiches.

Three times in vision the snakes and rats are lowered with the command "rise kill and eat" and three times Peter refuses (as if this is a test) faithfully declaring "no for I have never eaten what is unclean".

Peter then "ponders as to what this should mean".

And then explains the vision 3 times saying "God showed me that I should start eating rat sandwiches no matter if they bring on the plague and wipe out mankind or not"????

Not even remotely - rather Peter said "God showed me that I should call NO man unclean".

in Christ,

Bob

No command there to "love God with all your heart".

No command there to "Love your neighbor as yourself".

No command there to "honor your parents"

No command there "to not lie, kill, steal, covet"

No command there "Not to take God's name in vain"

But Acts 15 does say that all the Christians would be hearing "Moses preached in the Synagogues every Sabbath" just as the gentiles were doing in Acts 13 even BEFORE converting to Christianity.

Which is how they would get all that other Bible teaching.

in Christ,

Bob

Okay?

In Mark 7:6-13 the debate is all about "Wheat" that is eaten with non-ceremonially purified unbaptized fingers to remove the sin from the wheat.

The tradition being debated was whether actual food - was covered in sin, contaminated by sin and the fear that if you ate food with sin on it - you would get sin inside you.

Christ said that this tradition was rubbish and that sin is not something you get on your unbaptized fingers and then gets on your food (wheat, bread in this case).

So the "all foods" is a reference not to rat sandwiches but rather it is a reference to real food (wheat in this case) being clean from sin.

Which is why in Acts 10 - years later -- Peter confidently affirms his faithfulness to God saying that he has not been eating rat sandwiches.

Nobody in Matt 7 went away thinking that eating rats was now approved and not once do you find the Jews accusing Christ of such a teaching.

in Christ,

Bob

For all that your words are in English, they are put together in such a way as to not address the topic or make sense. This thread is about whether or not people should eat certain things. I posted a very clear part of scripture that is directly relevant to the topic.

You do realize that the part in brackets is added and not part of scripture... ?? Okay?

I have read the scriptures. The part you put in brackets is part of it.
(Mark 7:19 in every Greek Text that I have access to, bold font added for clarity)

since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?” Thus he declared all foods clean.
(Mark 7:19 ESV, bold font added for clarity)

That was a nice try though, good job!
If you don't want to eat pork then don't eat it, and God bless you for your spiritual decision. Jesus declared that all foods are clean and I will eat any food and be thankful to God for providing it.

I want to add this:

I am reading 1 Corinthians 6, as part of my daily Bible reading plan today and I see this-
“Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other.
Why spend any time arguing about foods or stomachs when both will be destroyed in the end? Why does anyone concern himself about what Somebody Else eats? Can you get between a person and the food he just ate?! Why would you want to???
