I think the answer to the OP's riddle hinges on the word "like". AV has drank beer many times, but has never drank anything else; therefore he doesn't know what beer tastes like, because he has nothing to compare it to. He's quite the party animal.

lol, smart alec.:D

Ah, so instead of having a legitimate medical condition, you used semantics to hide the truth and distort reality.

I should've figured.

What are you talking about?

It was a mental exercise.

If I wanted to hide the truth, I wouldn't have given the answer.

Oh my! Taking inventory I find that I am completely out of beer and Scotch, and very low on Gin. Looks like I'll have to make a trip to the package and liquor stores. I think I'll go Sunday after church. :yum:

You could just save time and skip church... just sayin'

I confess I have not read the entire thread, and I suppose I am coming across as somewhat snobby, but... There's beer (Like the US Budweisser and Coors) and then there is beer (Like for example Ola Dubh 18 or Dark Island Reserve). There are so many tastes it is impossible to tell what beer tastes like. It depends on the beer.

It's beer vs root beer.

I've had root beer before, but I've never had alcoholic beer.

Jesus turned water into wine, not wine.

I guess you're not joking... Nah, the story is clear as day, AV. According to the myth he turned it into alcoholic wine, on which people can get drunk. That is what it says in the original greek, plain as day. And besides, you cannot store grape juice without far more modern inventions than they had available then. It ferments if you don't deal with it appropriately, which they could not do. So not only does the language of the text prove your interpretation wrong, the facts related to the time and place in question also does so. Which is made clear by the context as well as the other biblical verses on wine. And, of course, proper research on the question.
The bible is crystal clear in that alcohol was not seen as a universally bad thing. And that actually jives well with current data: Some alcohol, it seems, is better than none.

Now you know why I'm KJVO.

And is that the same "original greek [sic]" that defines "sin" as a sports term; meaning "to miss the mark" -- as in archery or darts?
So not only does the language of the text prove your interpretation wrong,
What text?

AV has his own interpretation of the Bible. If he does not like what it says he will retranslate it so that it does.

In other words he translates wine to be grape juice since people can get intoxicated on wine. It does not matter that from context it is clear that the verse is referring to alcohol filled wine, he can't have his god supplying such pleasure.

I wonder if there are any other words that don't meant what they mean, in the KJVAAV?
