Thank you for that.

There are several places online it may be purchased, actually.
I'll give you one such link, but feel free to search around the 'Net
for any others you'd prefer to this one:

Book of Jasher at Barnes & Noble

This is in no way meant as an advert for this or that place,
just as a help for Rosemary here.

Even though the site erroneously lists the author as "Jasher,"
it is the authentic Book of Jasher being discussed in this thread
and not one of the pseudepigraphical "other" books mentioned earlier.

That would be the best recommendation for the "Upright Record", in that the same men who rejected Christ also got rid of Enoch because it is totally a book about the Son of Man, who was the Messiah, who was to come, and whom they [the religious rulers in Judaism], had crucified.<snip>
What information does Jasher contain that Jews rejecting Christ as Messiah could wish to see suppressed?

I didn't say that it did. I said that their rejection would be the best recommendation because of their rejection of Enoch...
I think the post I replied to made a claim that they rejected "Jasher", or did not even know what it was, or something. "Their denial is a recommendation", in other words, as consensus with them in matters of these is not to be desired.

Clears up mysteries...

In the Bible we do have some 'mysteries'...
Anah, in Genesis, sees some 'mules'
and the event of seeing the mules
is so memorable, that Moses mentions it
here in Genesis...

Seeing mules is not cuch a memorable
event... Why is it even mentioned..?

Genesis 36:24
"And these are the children of Zibeon;
both Ajah and Anah;
this was that Anah that found the mules
(Hebrew = Yemin)
in the wilderness,
as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father."

The word 'yemin' was new to the translators
of the Bible, they did not know what
to make of it, so they guessed...

'Mules' was a poor guess...
'hot springs' was another guess...

...
The word "Yemin" occurs only once in the Bible.
Its meaning is very obscure.
The Latin Vulgate translated it to mean
"warm springs",
but this is doubtful,
for it does not relate to any of several Hebrew words for "springs".

There are many words translated "springs": -

ashedoth = Deuteronomy 4:49, Joshua 10:40

gal = Song of Solomon 4:12

gullah = Joshua 15:19

mabbua = Isaiah 35:7

nebek = Joshua 38:16

mayan = Psalms 87:7

None of these are remotely similar to "Yemin".

The closest the translators could find was the word "yacham" which means "hot, to be in heat..."
Or perhaps the word "yom" which means "the warm part of the day..."

So to translate "Yemin" to mean "warm springs" is far-fetched.

The King James Version translated it to mean "mules".

This is likewise hard to understand.

The Hebrew words for "mules" are:

pered (separate one)

pirdah (female mule)

rekesh (swift beast)

None of these are remotely similar to "Yemin".

This word has puzzled translators for centuries.

The Jewish writers and translators are unsure of the meaning of the word.

This verse in Genesis is in the section of Genesis known as the "generations" or "chronicles" of Esau.
Thus, Esau recorded this story, and Moses related it briefly, as a story that needed clarification on who the Anah was that saw these "Yemin."

It would hardly seem worthwhile - or worth the effort - for Moses, or Esau, to relate about the finding of some "mules" in the fields.

It is more likely that the word "Yemin" is related to the word "Emim" which was the plural of the word "emah", which means "frightful, horrible, terrible, fearful..."

It is used in the Bible to refer to a certain group of the half angelic, and half human creatures born before, and after the flood.

This form of crossbreed was malformed, ugly, and beast-like.

Until the finding, translating,
and study of the book of Jasher,
the word "Yemin",
and an understanding of the nature of the branch of giants called "Emim" was not understood.

There is a story in Jasher,
that fills in the missing details on the "Yemin,"
and
proves that the word does not mean
"mules" or "warm springs."

Jasher 36:28-35
28. "And the sons of Shobal were Alvan, Manahath. Ebal, Shepho, and Onam, and the sons of Zibeon were Ajah, and Anah, this was that Anah who found the Yemin in the wilderness when he fed the asses of Zibeon, his father.

29. And whilst he was feeding his father's asses, he led them to the wilderness at different times to feed them.

30. And there was a day that they brought them to one of the deserts on the sea shore, opposite the wilderness of the people, and whilst he was feeding them,, behold a very heavy storm came from the other side of the sea, and rested upon the asses that were feeding there, and they all stood still.

31. And afterward, about one hundred and twenty great and terrible animals came out from the wilderness at the other side of the sea, and they all came to the place were the asses were, and they placed themselves there.

32. And those animals, from their middle downward, were in the shape of the children of men, and from their middle upward, some had the likeness of bears, and some the likeness of the keephas, with tails behind them from between their shoulders reaching down to the earth, like the tails of the ducheephath, and these animals came and mounted and rode upon these asses, and led them away, and they went away unto this day.

33. And one of these animals approached Anah and smote him with his tail, and then fled from that place.

34. And when he saw this work he was exceedingly afraid for his life, and he fled and escaped to the city.

35. And he related to his sons and brothers all that had happened to him, and many men went to seek the asses, but could not find them, and Anah and his brothers went no more to that place from that day following, for they were greatly afraid of their lives."

The horrible creatures mentioned were almost forgotten by the inhabitants. They were so rejected and feared by the people, that these Yemin had retired to secure, remote areas, and stayed for the most part hidden away from civilization. The sighting by Anah was so frightening, that he feared that area the rest of his life.

So, now we can better understand why
'seeing the 'yemin' was remarkable enough
to be mentioned in Genesis...
and having Jasher, with a more detailed
description of the event, we can see
what is really meant...

Jasher does help clear up some mysteries...

Gen 6:11
The earth also was perverted/corrupted before God, and the earth was filled with violence. Gen 6:12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his manner =his nature/ way upon the earth.

Jude 1:6, 7the angels left their own estate -natural habitation- and committed fornication with strange/alien flesh.

Deu 2:11 Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims ="terrors".

The Terrors were mixed kinds of nephillim, being mixed with the el sons born of the daughters of Adam and beasts of the earth, like the lion el mixture nephillim emims, killed by a man, in Moab

The sons of God did this wickedness before the flood and got chained in Sheol as a warning to other angels, says Jude, to warn them not to do this fornication, but others did do it after the flood [also after that flood, as Genesis 6 states; just as other men practiced sodomy after Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities of the plain got nuked as a warning to other men not to do that, says Jude], and those "after that flood, who did that" will suffer the fate that the warning was only a foretaste of. The final fate will be much worse.

26

And these are the names of the sons of Seir the Horite, inhabitants of the land of Seir, Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishan, Ezer and Dishon, being seven sons.
27

And the children of Lotan were Hori, Heman and their sister Timna, that is Timna who came to Jacob and his sons, and they would not give ear to her, and she went and became a concubine to Eliphaz the son of Esau, and she bare to him Amalek.
28

And the sons of Shobal were Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam, and the sons of Zibeon were Ajah, and Anah, this was that Anah who found the Yemim in the wilderness when he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.
29

And whilst he was feeding his father's asses he led them to the wilderness at different times to feed them.
30

And there was a day that he brought them to one of the deserts on the sea shore, opposite the wilderness of the people, and whilst he was feeding them, behold a very heavy storm came from the other side of the sea and rested upon the asses that were feeding there, and they all stood still.
31

And afterward about one hundred and twenty great and terrible animals came out from the wilderness at the other side of the sea, and they all came to the place where the asses were, and they placed themselves there.
32

And those animals, from their middle downward, were in the shape of the children of men, and from their middle upward, some had the likeness of bears, and some the likeness of the keephas, with tails behind them from between their shoulders reaching down to the earth, like the tails of the ducheephath, and these animals came and mounted and rode upon these asses, and led them away, and they went away unto this day.
33

And one of these animals approached Anah and smote him with his tail, and then fled from that place.
34

And when he saw this work he was exceedingly afraid of his life, and he fled and escaped to the city.
35

And he related to his sons and brothers all that had happened to him, and many men went to seek the asses but could not find them, and Anah and his brothers went no more to that place from that day following, for they were greatly afraid of their lives.

The Septuagint translated the word "jamin". The Hebrew word was not unknown, rather, the translators were biased by unbelief, and didn't believe their own eyes, about what it said.

 1. And these are the sons of Sebegon; Aïe, and Ana; this is the Ana who found Jamin in the wilderness, when he tended the beasts of his father Sebegon.
The word is from אָיֹם terrible, dreadful. Plural Emims = "terrors".
Deu 2:10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; Deu 2:11 Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims/-אימים'Eymiym .

So the yemim/jamin is just a variation of spelling of a branch of the giants born after the flood, who were "terrible", and who dwelled in Moab.

The mixtures of giants/el [the sons of God] and beasts of the earth is told about in Enoch, Jasher, and the book of the Giants -which is attributed to Enoch in the DSS.

The translators were also biased in translating אריאל 'ariy'el lion- el in 1 Chronicles and 2 Samuel.
1Ch 11:22 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many acts; he slew two 'ariy'el of Moab: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.
2Sa 23:20 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two 'ariy'el of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:

Jasher, like Enoch and the book of the giants [attributed also to Enoch], teach that the sons of God took daughters of Adam and also taught mixture of kinds, and all flesh on earth was corrupted.

16

And all the sons of men departed from the ways of the Lord in those days as they multiplied upon the face of the earth with sons and daughters, and they taught one another their evil practices and they continued sinning against the Lord.
17

And every man made unto himself a god, and they robbed and plundered every man his neighbor as well as his relative, and they corrupted the earth, and the earth was filled with violence.
18

And their judges and rulers [the Watchers set over earth] went to the daughters of men [Adam] and took their wives by force from their husbands according to their choice, and the sons of men in those days took from the cattle of the earth, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and taught the mixture of animals of one species with the other, in order therewith to provoke the Lord; and God saw the whole earth and it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its ways upon earth, all men and all animals.
The giants were angel-men, and angel-beast, and angel-creatures of the earth, before the flood and after the flood.

SumerianGiantKing.jpeg
There are ancient tablets from Sumaria [Babylon] that depict giants and some are insectoid giant men, and some are other mixtures.

We call them chimera, but the ancients learned from the fallen angels how to "cut roots" [gene splicing], as Enoch said, and make mixtures of kinds, which God forbade and forbids [and men are doing it again, today!].

The Christian world knows very little about angels, on the whole.

The world, and even some Christians, think they are "female" and picture them so....
yet every angel mentioned in Scripture is male.

Some think of an angel as a tiny cherub shooting arrows at hearts or lovers.
Most think of angels as winged creatures,
yet only cherubim and seraphim are mentioned as having wings in the Bible.

There is much for man to learn from the Bible about angels.
These are all spirit beings....yet they have bodies....
these bodies have hands, feet, eyes, heads, voices, hair, and other parts as men have.
(Gen. 8:2-8, 19:1-22, Judg. 13:6)

We are even advised in Hebrews 13:2 to:....
"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers,
for thereby some have entertained
angels unawares."

So angels can appear so human-like, that we could be easily fooled.
The perverted sinners of Sodom and Gomorrah were anxious to get to the angels that came to rescue Lot and his family.

These angels appeared very human-like.

In the Bible we are told a little about the fall of many angels that started some years before the flood.

In Genesis 6:1,2,4, we are told:
"And it came to pass when men began
to multiply on
the face of the earth,
and daughters were born unto
them,
that the sons of God saw
the daughters of men
that they were fair:
and they took them wives of all
which they chose...
There were giants in the earth in those days,
and also after that,
when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men,
and they bare children to them,
the same became (subsequent births were different from the earlier ones)
mighty men (very strong beings),
which were of old (meaning 'these are the ones told about even in the past'),
men of renown
(Hebrew = shem = shame, conspicuous by reason of individuality)."

2 Peter 2:4-5 adds some more to this:
"For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment and spared not the old world, but saved Noah, the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly"

Jude 6-7 also tells us:
"And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, He hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities about them, in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."

And we also are told in 1 Peter 3:19-20:
"By which also He went and preached unto the spirits in prison: which sometime were disobedient, when the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water."

Enoch gives us more detail about these fallen angels.
In Enoch 106:13-14, we are told:
"....for since my father Jared's day, the fallen angels have been sinning. They sin and are promiscuous with women. They have begotten children."

And then in Enoch 6:1-6, we find:
"As the sons of men multiplied upon the earth, fair and beautiful daughters were born. The angels of heaven saw and desired them. They encouraged each other to 'come, let us take these daughters of men to beget children for us.' Semyaza, their leader said, 'If you do this deed, I alone will have to answer to God for it.' They all answered him.... and said, 'Let us equally take any blame for this and then carry out our plan.' They bound each other to curses to carry out their plan, and share blame for actions. The number that came down to earth to do this were more than 200. They arrived on earth at the summit of Mt. Hermon. They called this mountain Hermon because it was there they bound one another to sacred curses."

Thus Enoch describes more fully this evil plan of the fallen angels. He goes on to give their leaders' names. (En. 6:7)
Their sin led to great trouble.

Enoch 7:1-2 shows us:
"They each chose a woman, and were defiled with them.... The women became pregnant and bore large giants who were extremely tall. The angels begat giants. The giants (Rephaim) begat Nephilim, and the Nephilim begat Elioud."

(This verse shows that the progressiveness of the breeding,
brought lower and lower forms of beings.)

Thus Enoch teaches in harmony to the Bible story.... but adds greatly to our knowledge.

The angels in Scripture are all male....
God did not create them to reproduce....
yet they did possess the power to do so.

En. 15:6-7
"But you were made eternal, immortal for all the ages. So I did not make you to beget children. You were made for heaven, not earth."

Matt. 22:30
"For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven."

The purpose of marriage and the begetting of children is to replenish the earth.
Since man is mortal, he needs to bear seed to carry on life.
Jesus did not say that angels were sexless -
only that they did not need to reproduce to carry on their existence.

Adam was created male before Eve was created. God gave Eve to Adam, so that he would not be alone on this earth.

Together they beget the first of the ones that now have replenished this earth.
The angels have no need to reproduce, since they are eternal.
Yet, since they are all male, the possibility to reproduce is there.
During Enoch's time, many were "leaving their first estate," and succumbing to temptation.

Enoch 10:11-14 tells us:
"Then the Lord told Michael: 'Go tell Semyaza and those with him who have corrupted themselves with women: 'After you have seen your sons devour each other, you will be bound for 70 generations under the hills of the earth until the day of judgment is come.' On that day of judgment they will be sent into the abyss of fire, and have torment in their eternal prison. Then Semyaza will burn, and see eternal destruction with them."

These angels sought forgiveness but "to whom much is given, much is required." They had seen God, His power, His holiness. They knew their sin....yet they chose to do it anyhow. There is no atoning work to pay for their sins, as God has provided for mankind .... therefore, God gave no forgiveness.

Consider Enoch 12:4-5:
"Enoch, scribe of righteousness, go tell the fallen angels who have sinned with women and have become corrupt, that they will receive neither peace nor forgiveness for their sin."

The giants that were produced through this union of angels and women of the earth were extremely evil, and progressively became more and more sinsiter, evil, and brutish.

Thus, Enoch 7:4-5 tells us:
"The giants then began to devour men. Then they began to devour all kinds of birds, animals, reptiles, fish, and finally each other's flesh, and even drank blood."

The fact that giants have lived on the earth is clearly stated in Scripture.

The Hebrew word "Nephilim" (Genesis 6:4, Numbers 13:33) means "giants". Israel saw themselves as "grasshoppers" in the sight of these giants.

The "Anakims" were a branch of these giants, named after Anak, one of the giants. (Deut. 1:28; 2:10-11, 21; 9:2, Josh. 11:21-22; 14:12-14)

The "Rephaim" were giants (Genesis 14:5, 15:20; II Samuel 5:18, 22, 23:13; I Chron. 11:15; 14:9; Isaiah 17:5).
They are mentioned often in the Bible.

The Bible translators often translated the word "Rephaim" as "dead" and "deceased"
(Job 26:5, Ps. 88:10, Proverbs 2:18, 9:18, 21:16, Isaiah 14:8, 26:14,19).

The land of Ammon was a land of giants, for giants dwelled there according to Deuteronomy 2:10-11.

The "Emim" were a branch of the giants who were terrible, ugly, and frightening.
They were as tall as the Anakims.

In Deuteronomy 2:10-11, we read:
"The Emims dwelt therein in times past,
a people great, and many, and tall,
as the Anakims.
Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims, but the Moabites call them Emims."

Then again they are mentioned in Genesis 14:5:
"And in the fourteenth year of Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Auaims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim..."

Until the finding, translating, and study of the book of Jasher, the word "Yemin", and an understanding of the nature of the branch of giants called "Emim" was not understood.

There is a story in Jasher, that fills in the missing details on the "Yemin,"
and proves that the word does not mean "mules" or "warm springs."

I answered your post here-
http://www.christianforums.com/t3320910-46/#post56666754
Angels in heaven do not have the power to reproduce themselves. That is not given to them, Enoch said, and Enoch explained they took oaths to remain in the bodies of flesh which they took to appear on earth, in which bodies they committed lawless deeds of iniquity and fornication, and could never return to heaven ever, again. So my reply to correct that statement, is in the Enoch thread.

No, their "oaths" or 'curses' had nothing to do with them choosing to take male bodies of earth to commit fornication... it does not say that....

angels have bodies, do not need to possess mankind's bodies to have one..

demons are bodiless, due to their spirits being free to roam, but no longer having a body as they once did...

angels have a body...

the passage in Enoch does not sya what you say it does... it says they took oaths and curses to ascertain who was to blame, for they know they were sinning... and even before the sin were feeling guilt...

here is the passage...

Enoch 6:1 As the sons of men multiplied upon the earth, fair and beautiful daughters were born.
6:2 The angels of heaven saw and desired them. They encouraged each other to "Come, let us take these daughters of men to beget children for us."
6:3 Semyaza, their leader, said, "If you do this deed, I alone will have to answer to God for it."
6:4 They all answered him and said, "Let us equally take any blame for this, and then carry out our plan."
6:5 They bound each other to curses to carry out their plan, and share blame for their actions.

Some of the angels of heaven fell into sin, sins of fornication.

See Genesis 6:1-4, II Peter 2:4,
Jude 6-7, and I Peter 3:19.

Josephus, Antiq. Book V. ch. 2 it says:
"Many angels of God accompanied with women,
and begat sons that proved unjust and
despisers of all that was good...
these men did what resembled the acts
of those the Grecians called 'giants'."

The Ante-Nicene fathers refer to angels
as falling "into impure love of virgins...
and were begotten those who are called 'giants."'
(Vol. 2, page 142, and vol. 8, pages 85, 273.

Justin Martyr (110-165 A.D.) says
"But the angels transgressed... and begat children."
(Vol. 2, page 190)

Some have imagined that since our bodies in heaen,
or that Jesus' resurrection body, and the body of angels,
and even God's manifest body are spiritual bodies,
they have no substance...

Jesus said after the resurrection that He
was flesh and bone...
angels can be seen as men,
God sits on a throne, holds books in His hand,
has a manifest presence, as well as His omnipresence...

and we, in heaven, will have a spirit body...
still able to walk streets of gold,
cast our crowns at Jesus' feet...

Yet the spiritual body of Christ could be handled, touched, could eat, etc.

The idea of our mortal bodies is that they are flesh and blood.
The life is in the blood. Jesus said of His spiritual body, that it was "flesh and bone..."

There was no mention of "blood",
for the life of a spiritual body is the "Spirit."

Thus, it will be immortal,
and incorruptible
because of the "Spirit" which gives it life.

It will still be a physical body which can literally
be touched, walk on streets of gold,
occupy a heavenly mansion, etc.

Luke 24:39
"Behold, My hands and My feet,
that it is Myself, handle me, and see;
for a spirit (ghost) hath not flesh and bones,
as ye see me have..."

I Corinthians 15:39-44
"All flesh is not the same flesh;
but there is one kind of flesh of men,
another flesh of beasts,
another of fishes, and another of birds.
There are also celestial bodies,
and bodies terrestrial:
but the glory of the celestial is one,
and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
There is one glory of the sun,
and another glory of the moon,
and another glory of the stars;
for one star differeth for another star in glory.
So also is the resurrection of the dead.
It is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.
It is sown in dishonour;
it is raised in glory;
it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;
it is sown a natural body,
it is raised a spiritual body.
There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body."

The Old Testament saints believed in a resurrection.

Job 19:25-27
"For I know my Redeemer liveth,
and that He shall stand at the latter day
upon the earth;
though after my skin worms destroy this body,
yet in my flesh shall I see God;
Whom I shall see for myself,
and mine eyes shall behold, and not another,
though my reins be consumed within me..."

How are the dead to be raised?
The analogy of the corn of wheat
is used to illustrate the answer.
Out of the death, the burial of the corn of wheat,
comes a harvest many fold.
Life reappears in a higher form.
The identity remains the same, it is still wheat,
but infinitely greater.

Our new resurrected bodies will be fitted for eternity.

They will have a new vitality,
and a new strength.
There will be no curse, no sickness,
and no death to afflict these resurrected bodies.

They will be like the resurrected body of Jesus.

I John 3:2
"Beloved, now are we the sons of God,
and it doth not yet appear what we shall be;
but we know that, when He shall appear,
we shall be like Him;
for we shall see Him as He is..."

Spirit bodies, are still leteral bodies...
far greater than flesh and blood bodies...
but still bodies...

angels have a kind of 'spirit body' too...
able to father children...
condemned for the fornication they, themeselves
committed...

their bodies, though flesh and bone,
can appear as flame,
can go throgh walls,
can travel from heaven to earth
in moments...

human bodies were once made to be eternal,
had they eaten of the tree of life,
had not the curse of death come upon it...

our new bodies will be not cursed,
and the life of the Spirit shall give those
new bodies life...

The life in the blood is the "soul". When the soul is departed, there is no life in the blood.
You are getting beyond Scripture, and I think you just paste from your own books that you say your wrote, and the bold and the format are hard to read and reply to. Plus, could you please shorten your posts so that they can be handled in one, as you seem to just be writing books instead of speaking to what was written.

Jesus rose in his own body of New Man flesh, which has blood. It is the same body He came incarnate in, which is flesh and blood.

No, their "oaths" or 'curses' had nothing to do with them choosing to take male bodies of earth to commit fornication... it does not say that....

angels have bodies, do not need to possess mankind's bodies to have one..

At no time did I say angels "possess" mankind's "bodies". Satans enter bodies, because they are created evil spirits who are under Satan in heaven. Demons enter bodies, because they are evil spirits under Satan on earth.

I said what Enoch said: Watcher angels who come to earth appear as men -and or whatever they need to appear as. In heaven they do not appear as men, but as stars, pillars of fire, tongues of fire, lightnings.

.

I can barely read yours, in fact,
I am skimming,
for it hurts my eyes to read yours...

I am not here to just
respond to your posts...
we don't agree on alot,
and I post what I find
in Scripture, in Enoch, in Jasher...
and yes, I have much I could 'cut and paste' to answer...
for I have written books on these subjects, and studied them for years...

the history in Egypt,
with details from Jasher...

The Pharaoh of Egypt when Joseph
was brought to the land was Ahmose I.

This was the Pharaoh who drove the Hyksos
from the land, and ruled from Thebes.

Then came Thutmose I, followed by the II,
and finally by Thutmose III. Thutmose II
had a sister known as Queen Hatsheput,
who later married her brother...
i.e. Thutmose III.

Amenhotep III (known as "Melol" in Jasher 77:3)
ruled during the time that Moses was born.

He was married to Queen Tiy (known as Aparanith in Jasher 76:47 to 77:6).

They had a daughter named "Bathia".

Bathia was the one who found baby Moses in the water,
and took him home to raise him
(Jasher 68:32, 80:49).

Melol and Aparanith (Amenhotep and Tiy)
had three sons and two daughters.

Othri was the first born
(and he was severely mentally retarded).

Adikam was the second born.

Morion was born last.

The two daughters were:
Bathia
and Acuzi.
Adikam was a midget,
and stood in adulthood only
"one cubit and a span"
(which is 27 inches tall).

He was very ugly, and had a beard that reached to the soles of his feet (Jasher 77:6).

History records this Pharaoh as Amenhotep IV,
who changed his name to Akhaton.

He was married to Nofretete
(known as Gedulah in Jasher).

The religion at the time had been polytheistic,
but Adikam began a monotheistic religion
which was likely a return to the religion of Job...
it had been contaminated by the polytheistic religion of the Egyptians...

but Job had worshipped the true Jehovah God.

Since Job preached a God Who would someday come t the land of the East,
the direction of the rising sun, the symbol of the god that Ahikam worshipped was the sun disk.

The name Akhnaton means "Aton be pleased."

Since Moses and Adikam had been raised in the same household, Moses and Bathia probably had much influence upon him.

However, to believe in one God, is not enough...

A relationship with the one true God is necessary.

This Pharaoh was the one who kept
hardening his heart from the plagues
and instructions given through Moses, the prophet.

Like many today in religious circles, they have a head knowledge of God, but they love power, fame, riches, and prestige too much to truly give lordship to God...

Adikam moved the capital of Egypt from Thebes to Tell -el-Amarna.
He was the Pharaoh who led the Egyptian army against the fleeing Hebrew people.

He actually ruled for longer than four years,
but following the death of his sick father,
he ruled only four years...

His father had been so sick that he ruled some years while his father lay suffering.

God judged the army of the Egyptians, and there was not one left alive... except this Pharaoh.
Jasher 81:40-41 tells us that an "angel" took Adikam and carried him to the land of Nineveh ( a distant province of Egypt) and he ruled a long time there as its viceroy.

The Bible does not disagree with the statement that this Pharaoh survived...
in fact, if the wording is carefully noted in Exodus, we see that it was the army of Pharaoh which was totally annihilated...

The Pharaoh finally realized that
Jehovah was the one true God, and gave Him worship...
therefore God had mercy upon him.

Exodus 14:28
"...and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them, there remained not so much as one of them..."

Following this great destruction of the Egyptian army, the land of Egypt was devastated.

Many adult males survived, but none were Egyptian. There were many foreigners in Egypt in those days.

A general named Harmhab reigned for a while until the 19th dynasty could be set up when Ramses I came to power with his son Seti I.

During this unsettling time in Egypt, King Shubbiluiuma of the Hittites took northern Syria from Egypt, Ahikam ruled from Nineveh (transplanted by the angel of God)... History records that the Habiru (known to us as the Hebrews) invaded Palestine (as we know from the book of Joshua).

Egypt returned to the former polytheism, and the priests of Amon aided Harmhab in his interim rule. The capital was returned to Thebes.

Jasher 7:19
There are the generations of Shem;
Shem begat Arpachshad
and Arpachshad begat Shelach,
and Shelach begat Eber,
and to Eber were born two children,
the name of one was Peleg,
for in his days the sons of men were divided,
and in the latter days the earth was divided.

"The Lord scattered" (Genesis 11:8)
The Lord did not want mankind to congregate at one valley,
and to seek to remain as one people in one place.
He wanted to scatter them before He divided
the continents and islands
as it is now today.

Originally, the earth was all one giant land mass.
The continents did not divide until God had scattered the people.

The tower of Babel was in defiance of God's plan to get mankind to all parts of the world before He divided the land.

Genesis 10:24
"Unto Eber were born two sons,
the name of one was Peleg,
for in his days the earth divided..."

The earth was divided 340 years after the flood.
This explains how the American Indians and other people arrived at their isolated places.

Nimrod was ruling in an area called Shinar.
He was a wicked ruler.

The book of Jasher gives us some detail about him.

Jasher 7:44-46
44. And Nimrod dwelt in Shinar, and he reigned securely, and he fought with his enemies and he subdued them, and he prospered in all his battles, and his kingdom became very great.
45. And all nations and tongues heard of his fame, and they gathered themselves to him, and they bowed down to the earth, and they brought him offerings, and he became their lord and king, and they all dwelt with him in the city of Shinar, and Nimrod reigned in the earth over all the sons of Noah, and they were all under his power and counsel.
46. And all the earth was of one tongue and words of union, but Nimrod did not go in the ways of the Lord, and he was more wicked that all the men that were before him, from the days of the flood until those days.

"Nimrod" means "we will rebel".
He was a despotic ruler, and commanded people to credit him for their happiness.
He supposedly defied God to send another flood, and the tower was to be his method to escape any other flood that may come.

The people decided, under the direction of the evil civil government, to build a city, and a tower to reach unto heaven.

Genesis 11:4, 8
"...let us build a city and a tower...
Lord scattered them... and they left off to build the city..."

Jasher 8:20-23
20. And king Nimrod reigned securely, and all the earth was under his control, and all the earth was of one tongue and words of union.
21.And all the princes of Nimrod and his great men took counsel together; Phut, Mitzraim, Cush and Canaan with their families, and they said to each other, Come let us build ourselves a city and in it a strong tower, and its top reaching heaven, and we will make ourselves famed, so that we may reign upon the whole world, in order that the evil of our enemies may cease from us, that we may reign mightily over them, and that we may not become scattered over the earth on account of their wars.
22. And they all went before the king, and they told the king these words, and the king agreed with them in this affair, and he did so.
23. And all the families assembled consisting of about six hundred thousand men, and they went to seek an extensive piece of ground to build the city and the tower, and they sought in the whole earth and they found none like one valley at the east of the land of Shinar, about two days walk, and they journeyed there and they dwelt there.

This tower is what has been called a ZIGGURAT.
Ziggurats were towers built of successively smaller stages of sun-dried brick.
Usually, a temple was built on the top.
Over 30 are known to exist yet.

The most commonly associated with the Biblical account, is the one at Babylon, with is still 295 feet tall, and has the seven stages.

Babylonian description of the tower:
Grand court 900 x 1156 feet (3x4 football fields)
Smaller court 450 x 1056 feet
Center tower had many small shrines at its base
Tower 300 feet high
each level was a square
1. 300 ft. sq. - 110 feet high
2. 260 ft. sq. - 60 feet high
3. 200 ft. sq. - 20 feet high
4. 170 ft. sq. - 20 feet high
5. 140 ft. sq. - 20 feet high
6. 110 ft. sq. - 20 feet high
7. 80 x 60 ft. sq. - 50 feet high

On top was a sanctuary to their god,
Bel-Merodach,
and the signs of the zodiac.

The workers evidently finished the tower, for the work was stopped on the city only, when the judgment came.

The MORTAR that was used in the building of the tower was called "slime" in Genesis.

Genesis 11:3 "...slime for mortar"

This was the bitumen from the bitumen pits still found near Babylon. The bitumen used in those days as a mortar, was so strong that even today it is almost impossible to detach things cemented with it.

The BRICKS were usually "sun-dried" in the buildings of that day,
but here they were heated in an oven to hasten the process.

The book of Jasher gives us some interesting details to the story given in brief in Genesis.

Jasher 9:24-39
24. And they began to make bricks and burn fires to build the city and the tower that they had imagined to complete.
25. And the building of the tower was unto them a transgression and a sin, and they began to build it, and whilst they were building against the Lord God of heaven, they imagined in their hearts to war against him, and to ascend into heaven.
26. And all these people and all the families divided themselves in three parts; and first said, We will ascend into heaven, and fight against Him; the second said, We will ascend to heaven and place our own gods there and serve them; and the third part said, We will ascend to heaven and smite him with bows and spears; and God knew all their works, and all their evil thoughts, and he saw the city and the tower which they were building.
27. And when they were building they built themselves a great city and a very high and strong tower; and on account of its height the mortar and the bricks did not reach the builders in their ascent of it, until those who went up had completed a full year, and after that, they reached to the builders and gave them the mortar and the bricks; thus was it done daily.
28. And behold these ascended and others descended the whole day; and if a brick should fall from their hands and get broken, they would all weep over it, and if a man fell and died, none of them would look at him.
29. And the Lord knew their thoughts, and it came to pass when they were building they cast the arrows toward the heavens, and all the arrows fell upon them filled with blood, and when they saw them they said to each other, Surely we have slain all those that are in heaven.
30.For this was from the Lord in order to cause them to err, and in order to destroy them from off the face of the ground.
31. And they built the tower and the city, and they did this thing daily until many days and years were elapsed.
32. And God said to the seventy angels who stood foremost before Him, to those who were near to Him, saying, Come let us descend and confuse their tongues, that one man shall not understand the language of his neighbor, and they did so unto them.
33. And from that day following, they forgot each man his neighbor's tongue, and they could not understand to speak in one tongue, and when the builder took from the hands of his neighbor lime or stone which he did not order, the builder would cast it away and throw it upon his neighbor, that he would die.
34. And they did so many days, and they killed many of them in this manner.
35. And the Lord smote the three divisions that were there, and He punished them according to their works and designs, those who said We will ascend to heaven and serve our gods, became like apes and elephants; and those who said, We will smite the heavens with arrows, the Lord killed them, one man through the hand of his neighbor; and the third division of those who said, We will ascend to heaven and fight against Him, the Lord scattered them throughout the earth.
36. And those who were left amongst them, when they knew and understood the evil which was coming upon them, they forsook the building, and they also became scattered upon the face of the whole earth.
37. And they ceased building the city and the tower; therefore he called that place Babel, for there the Lord confounded the language of the whole earth; behold it was at the east of the land of Shinar.
38. And as to the tower which the sons of men built, the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up one third part thereof, and a fire descended from heaven and burned another third, and the other third is left to this day, and it is of that part which was aloft, and its circumference is three days' walk.
39. And many of the sons of men died in that tower, a people without number.

in looking at Jasher,
we need to look and compare the Bible,
as to how it harmonizes ...
not contradicts it...

Hebrews 11:11-12
"...through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged Him faith Who had promised..."

Genesis 18:10
"I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life, and lo, Sarah, they wife shall have a son..."

Genesis 21:1-2,5
"the Lord visited Sarah as He had said... for Sarah conceived, and Abraham was 100 years old..."

The orders to circumcise were given when Abraham was 99, the child was born as promised in the 100th year of Abraham.

Jasher 21:1-8
1. And it was at that time at the end of the year and four months of Abraham's dwelling in the land of the Philistines in Gerar, that God visited Sarah, and the Lord remembered her, and she conceived and bare a son to Abraham.
2. And Abraham called the name of the son which was born to him, which Sarah bare to him, Isaac.
3. And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac at eight days old, as God had commanded Abraham to do unto his seed after him; and Abraham was one hundred, and Sarah ninety years old, when Isaac was born to them.
4. And the child grew up and he was weaned, and Abraham made a great feast upon the day that Isaac was weaned.
5. And Shem and Eber and all the great people of the land, and Abimelech king of the Philistines, and his servants, and Phicol, the captain of his host, came to eat and drink and rejoice at the feast which Abraham made upon the day of his son Isaac's being weaned.
6. And Terah, the father of Abraham, and Nahor his brother, came from Haran, they and all belonging to them, for they greatly rejoiced on hearing that a son had been born to Sarah.
7. And they came to Abraham, and they ate and drank at the feast which Abraham made upon the day of Isaac's being weaned.
8. And Terah and Nahor rejoiced with Abraham, and they remained with him many days in the land of the Philistines.

"Abraham" means "the father of a multitude."
This name was changed from "Abram"
which means "elevation."

Abraham was a man who would have many nations come from his seed.

Ishmael would be the progenitor of the Arab peoples.

Isaac would be the progenitor of the Israelites and Edomites.

Isaac is born to Abraham and Sarah.
When the boy was eight days old, he was circumcised.

This was following the command of God to Abraham.

Abraham circumcised Isaac, and continued to be obedient.
Later, after some years, the child was weaned.

A weaning feast was customary in that day.
Genesis 21:8 confirms this feast.

Many notable peoples were present at the feast, including Shem, the son of Noah.

One of those described as present was Terah.
This is not an error.
Terah died at 205 years of age.
Terah was 70 when Abraham was born, and therefore Abraham would have been 135 when he died.

The Bible has been assumed to be teaching that Terah died while Abraham dwelt with him in Haran. If that were true, the timing of this event of the "weaning" celebration would have been after Terah had been dead for more than 25 years.

Terah did not die, when Abraham, at 75, left Haran, but died some 60 years later...
so this was 25 years later, and Terah would still be alive.
Many Biblical scholars have wrongly taught here about how old Terah was when Abraham was born.
How do we, with the Bible get into such erroneous thinking?
We take for granted our interpretation of certain verses is correct, and sometimes
(as with the help of Jasher here),
we learn that we have incorrectly assumed.

The Bible did not say,
what we thought it said,
but was vague enough that we so assumed.

This has been a problem down through the ages.

The Jews assumed that the Messiah would come in power and conquering power, and missed the humble birth, and sacrificial first coming prophecies.
We need to beware we do not copy their error,
and mis-interpret verses within the Bible.

Let us:
II Tim. 2:15
"Study to shew ourselves approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth..."

Examine the historical records,
if contradiction with the Bible is found
always trust the Bible record,
and test all other works by the reliable record
of the Bible.
However, make sure the Bible truly says
what we have assumed.
