I like Atheists, some of the smarter people I know are Athiests. However they get really upset if you tell them that Atheism is a religion.

Let's sing an Atheist hym: Who gives us reason to live?
:No, one, no, one

Let's spread the good news, happiness and joy... wait... what happiness? When we die we turn into dust and then simply cease to exist. :D

*end rant*

Ahem,

God bless you guys

Yeah I know... I don't trust them with paint ball guns :] The reason I am saying this is because I am going to a paint ball party with one :] I don't see the nice side of those people very often. I s5till feel sympathy for them. But I can't stand atheists

It's unfortunate that you see it that way. I am an Atheist and I think it would be better to get to know me before making a general judgement. You are 12 so I can appreciate why everyone gets painted with the same brush but I can assure you, I do not have a cold heart.

Love? I don't know - I still haven't figured out what I think that word means. I do, however, respect them where it's due and expect the best of them - as I do with any person, no matter their religious choices (or lack there-of).

It's hard to expect the best of people who only give you the worst though, and unfortunately, it seems as though the most vocal and noticed atheists are noticed for that very reason. Some of my closest friends are atheists, though, and I care about them just as much as I care about my religious/spiritual friends.

Here you go:

[FONT=Dauphin, Arial]"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves."

And yet, I still don't know what I think love is. Words need interpretation based on context, speaker, purpose and tone. Aside from that, I wasn't really asking to have scripture handed to me. I'm quite happy trying to understand love in my own time.

No need to bite me, i was simply offering a Christian perspective as to what love is. However if you don't want people to quote scriptures or speak about Jesus then perhaps you should join a forum that isn't Christian oriented. ^_^

A thing you will learn about Christians, we love to help people. To ask me not to quote scriptures is to remove most of the foundation on which I stand.

I know that Christians love to help people. I am a Christian myself :p I wasn't asking you not to quote scriptures, either. I was just mentioning that I hadn't asked for it. I was trying to say, I suppose, that I was responding to the topic with my own little musings - I go off-track a lot, and I tend to muse aloud (or 'in text', as the case is!) and expect not to have my musings responded to. It threw me a little when you responded to that specific part, rather than to how I treat atheists. I wasn't biting, but I would appreciate it if you don't suggest that I not join Christian-oriented forums. I enjoy discussing scripture, I really do - I was just mentioning that I hadn't asked to discuss it.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding - I tend to type the words that I would say and I forget that tone isn't easily conveyed unless the wording is changed or smilies are included. Believe me, that "biting" post was stated with a musing tone. I didn't mean any upset - I'm sorry. *hugs*

Thank you for replying, I guess I was worried that I offended you. I respect your opinion and I won't quote scriptures when you muse ;)

Well I didn't mean to sound aggresive when suggesting that you not join a Christian-oriented forum. Sometimes I can come across as an idiot, but I assure you I never try to offend.

God bless you
*returns hug*^_^

I get frustrated with them like danny said. Like this one time i asked a kid at work who I thought was cool / respectful and a friend. But when I asked him if he could maybe take one of my sunday shifts I had so I could go to church he laughed and was like hahaha church? you serious? I lost some respect for him when he said that. a simple no would of done the trick. And I got a few atheist friends / other co workers that will make fun of Christians and that makes me mad a lot

Hello everybody! Do you love atheists and agnostics? I mean seriously, do you love them, sorrow for them, and respect them. I love them, I suppose, because my parents are atheists, but I have a lot of respect for them too; they don't pretend to believe something just for the sake of believing it (usually). Of course, there are some who follow the atheist agenda for selfish reasons, but I've noticed most are legitamate, kind people. I don't think we're doing enough to help them understand our God; does anybody have any good suggestions for doing so?

I love atheists because they are people, but I don't love atheism.

I respect atheism as a belief when it is serious and intellectually honest, but I don't respect behaviours aimed at mocking religion to make atheism look better. But honestly, I also don't respect behaviours aimed at mocking atheism to make religion look better... Mocking is for the dishonests.

Agnosticism is a different thing entirely... lots of variety here, from those who try to find a belief but haven't reached any, to those who gave up searching because it was painful, to those who simply don't want to care. Impossible to have the same opinion for all cases here.

Let's however keep in mind that people call themselves "atheist", "agnostic", "christian" etc. but that doesn't always mean it's what they really are.

What to do with atheists/agnostics? I just talk to them about the topics of religion and philosophy openly. Well, to those who are willing to listen and respond of course. I like to find the common ground to continue a discussion: a lot of atheists, in fact most of them, do have their own morals and ethics, they just don't want to recognize that they come from God.
