  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sad news *prayer request*

I continue to ask for your deep and fervent prayers, please.

Unfortunately, my brother got back together with his ex-"boyfriend." Even though he habitually cheated on him, among other issues.

Please pray for a final break up, and they will permanently part ways.

Please pray for my brother to return to Christ and the sacraments, lest he lose his salvation.

Thank you

God bless

Restoring Reverence for God.

There is an issue that has contributed to a weak church today.

Our Father wants to express Himself to the world today through the family of God - in His fullness.

Social pressure has led to us presenting a palatable Gospel without the aspects of God’s nature that might offend.

We have failed to allow expression of many of His attributes and in doing so have made our God ‘PC’

To get a balanced picture of His character it is necessary to consider the whole of scripture and not just the New Testament.
Many believers have struggled to reconcile the Christ from the New with the God of Israel from the Old.

The aspects of God that have been conveniently ignored are in fact crucial to a strong Church. These could be called the ‘negative’ attributes of God, are not ‘nice’ and include the following…

Our God judges, is jealous, hates sin, is terrible, destroys, gets angry, consumes like a fire, takes vengeance and is intolerant.
Presenting a soft view of God has lead to having a generation of believers that have little comprehension or experience of the “fear” of God.

There is a corresponding lack of wisdom among us, compounded by the modern trend towards young leadership in some Churches. By fear, I mean to honour and respect for a God who is awesome and holy. This is not to be confused with an unholy fear associated with sects and cults to control adherents.

This failure to represent of the fear of God to the Church has also meant that the Church’s voice in the world is muted.

How do we correct this lack of knowledge of such an important part of God’s character?

Three things come to mind.

Firstly, these aspects of God’s character are more often than not expressed through God’s prophets. You may ask - where are they? In many cases the structure and dynamic of our churches fails to make room for such a ministry. The one who is brave enough to say that we need to repent is often seen immediately as imbalanced ‘flakey’ or plainly deceived. In the early church there was a fellowship of prophets serving the family of God to bring His word. This is virtually unheard of today and would likely be viewed as a dangerous clique. This grouping of prophets in a district should be welcomed and serve to bring God’s Word to the Shepard’s in the area.

Secondly there has been a trend away from preaching and towards teaching. It is not surprising that preaching the Gospel has less appeal in the modern church as we are exhorted to go out and preach whereas most preachers stay in and preach. In staying in, they are all too often addressing a convinced audience. As in the early church, preaching should be done in public where the unsaved are. This is where the word of judgment has a significant place. Preaching with signs following in the market place results in radical conversions, which in turn challenge the church and stimulate renewal.

Thirdly our current generation seems to lack the personal close encounters with the Almighty that many of us remember, permanently changing our lives. I still recall a prayer time with students at Otago University in the 70’s when ‘God passed by…’ I was speechless for several hours. An encounter of that nature leaves one with a permanent deep respect and healthy fear of our Lord for a lifetime.
We sing about His awe, but if there was revelation knowledge of His holiness our gatherings would be more likely to command His respect and fear.

In shocking move, Israel strikes Hamas leadership in Doha, capital of Qatar, for 1st time

At least 2 senior Hamas officials said to have been present

The Israeli Air Force struck a building in the Qatari capital of Doha on Tuesday, in an attempt to eliminate the senior leadership of the terror organization Hamas.

Footage from Doha showed smoke rising above the capital. The Qatari outlet Al-Arabi reported that the building served as the bureau of Hamas official, Khalil al-Hayya.

A senior Israeli official told Israeli news outlets: “We struck the Hamas leadership in Qatar, including Khalil al-Hayya and [Zaher] al-Jabarin. We are awaiting the results of the strike. There is a consensus among the political and security leadership.”

Prophesy and 1 Cor 14:3

Hi there,

What is your take on the matter of restricting prophesy to needing to have a positive message based on 1 Cor 14:3

How does this sit with the rest of scripture which records many times Prophesy brings a message of warning, and rebuke.

Encounter with a genuine prophet is more likely to result in one being uncomfortable it seems.

Discussion please.

Rosie O’Donnell Says Security Told Her Not to Come Back to the U.S. for Daughter’s Graduation Due to Trump Feud: He’ll ‘Use Me to Rile His Base’

Rosie O’Donnell revealed on a recent episode of the “No Filter” podcast (via Entertainment Weekly) that she was forced to miss her daughter’s college graduation due to security concerns regarding her potential return to the United States amid an ongoing feud with Donald Trump. The television icon moved to Ireland after Trump was re-elected president last November.

“My daughter graduated college and I didn’t go back because the security people said to me they didn’t think it was wise,” O’Donnell said. “Because I think Trump will use me to rile his base.”

Daniel 11:40-44, followed by Armageddon

Near the end of the 7 years, in Daniel 11:40-44, the beast-king headquartered in Jerusalem will be attacked from the south, then north, then east.

Why ? We can only speculate. imo, it will be because the beast-king (king of the West, i.e the EU with likely allies of Canada and the United States) will be directing all the middle east oil to the western alliance. Oil being the life blood of the nations, will give them no choice but to attack the beast-king to free up the oil.

It should be noted that the attack from the east will be by the armies of China (Revelation 16:12). In Revelation 9:13-19, there will be a third of mankind killed by a 200,000,000 size army. So I think that will be by the armies of China as they march westward through Pakistan, India. Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, and other "stan" countries.

So there will be a big battle near the end of the 7 years, Daniel 11:40-44.

As the battle is taking place, like a thief in the night, the sixth seal event will happen and the world will see Jesus in heaven, sickle in hand.

In the face of the threat to their existence, the nations will stop battling with the beast king and his armies, and will unite under the beast-king's leadership (Revelation 16:12-16). And with their armies already in the middle east will gather at Armageddon to prepare for making war on Jesus and His army of heaven.

Trump admin. looks to restore ‘pre-Biden bipartisan’ ban on abortions at VA Dept. hospitals

The United States Department of Veterans Affairs is expected to rescind a Biden-era policy allowing abortions to be performed under certain circumstances at affiliated hospitals.

Last month, the department announced a proposed rule to remove the Biden-era policy at its hospitals, with the official window for public comment being closed last week.

In a statement provided to The Christian Post, a VA spokesperson described the Biden administration policy as a “politically motivated change” to the longstanding standard of not providing abortions.

“Prior to the Biden Administration’s politically motivated change in 2022, federal law and longstanding precedent across Democrat and Republican administrations prevented VA from providing abortions and abortion counseling,” stated the spokesperson. “VA’s proposed rule will reinstate the pre-Biden bipartisan policy, bringing the department back in line with historical norm.”

Liberian court decides ownership of church properties in dispute between Methodist denominations

A recent court ruling has decided the ownership of church properties in a dispute between the United Methodist Church and the theologically conservative Global Methodist Church.

Judge George W. Smith of the 6th Judicial Circuit, Civil Law Court in Liberia, ruled last month that the UMC rightfully controls several church properties, and not the GMC.

“The GMC and Rev. Jerry P. Kulah hold no legal or equitable right, title or interest in UMC Liberia Annual Conference properties, including worship centers, schools, hospitals and other facilities,” Smith ruled.

Pray The Holy Spirit encourages more respect & sensitivity between the male and female sexes/genders

In the article associated with the following link, it says that in today's modern secular music, female singers and male singers are harshly insulting each other:

Why female pop stars are lambasting mediocre men

Judging by her lyrics, Sabrina Carpenter (pictured) has mixed feelings towards men. She finds her paramours attractive, exciting—and disappointing. In “Manchild”, the lead single on her new album, she complains her lover is “stupid”, “slow” and “useless”. She asks, mocking a caveman, “Why so sexy if so dumb? / And how survive the Earth so long?”

“Manchild” is not the only track on the record to lambast mediocre men: time and again Ms Carpenter takes aim at blokes who can barely “do the dishes” or “assemble a chair from IKEA”. The American pop star suggests her beaux are dumb, as when, in “Sugar Talking”, she says: “You’re having these epiphanies, big word for a real small mind.” Some do not understand basic grammar. In “Slim Pickins”, a hit from last year, she complains about a man who “doesn’t even know the difference between there, their and they are”.

.......more text....more text.....................

Men are pushing back, at least musically. In August the top album on the Billboard 200 chart was “I’m the Problem” by Morgan Wallen, an American country singer. “If I’m so awful,” he sings, “then why’d you stick around this long?”

It's Not merely fun-loving teasing. When people ( especially young adults, teenagers & kids ) listen to the aforementioned songs, opposite sexes subconsciously learn to mistreat each, and disrespect each other. This is what leads to marriages breaking up.

( Important Side Note: Nowadays, we have to be concerned about people listening to modern music that has lyrics with inappropriate sexually-related lustful words and phrases, but we also have to be concerned about the aforementioned. It's becoming a complex, scary & frightening world ).

There is Nothing wrong with fun-loving teasing between men & women, & even a civil healthy debate about the role of men vs women in society. However, it's bad if it turns into extreme disrespect and/or abuse. Pray The Holy Spirit encourages more respect & sensitivity between the male and female sexes/genders:

World Cup in the US?

Next year the US is hosting the World Cup. That is a HUUUUUUUGE worldwide event.

Do you think that the immigration "crackdown" we see happenning now is going to affect attendance? There has been a NOT AT ALL subtle drop in tourism to the US in the last year.

Do you think World Cup organizers and FIFA are a bit anxious as they watch this unfold?

Personally, I would be. I will bet numbers will be lower for this WC in the United Sates and it will directly be attributable to curent policy.

On the plus side, hopefully Canada will get a BIG boost in tourism! I'd even heard talk of shifting some games from the US up to Canada (but that is all rumour at this point).

Who is the Antichrist?

The word “Antichrist” gets thrown around often. Politicians are called it, dictators accused of it, and movies dramatize it. For some, it’s nothing more than a myth. Atheist writer Christopher Hitchens dismissed the Antichrist as “apocalyptic fantasy,” while Hollywood portrays him as a shadowy villain plotting world domination. But what does the Bible actually teach about the Antichrist, and how should Christians understand him today?

What the Bible says about the Antichrist

The New Testament letters of John first used the word. John warns that “you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come” (1 John 2:18). Right away, the Bible shows two realities: there is a final Antichrist still to appear, but there are also many “antichrists” already active in the world.

The word itself means both “against Christ” and “in place of Christ.” The Antichrist does not only oppose Jesus but also seeks to replace Him with a counterfeit version of truth. John explains that “every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God,” calling this “the spirit of the antichrist” (1 John 4:3).

Paul adds more detail in 2 Thessalonians, describing “the man of lawlessness” who will exalt himself and even sit “in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God” (2 Thess. 2:3–4). Revelation 13paints an even starker picture of a beast rising from the sea, wielding global power, performing miraculous signs, and demanding worship. Together, these passages describe the Antichrist as deceptive, arrogant, and dangerous—a figure who leads people into false worship and rebellion against God.

Cowboy Deputy Assistant AgSec Tucker Stewart gaining fame for spicy fiction of a cowboy in DC

Trump Appointee’s Job in Jeopardy Over X-Rated Cowboy Story He Wrote

A POLITICO report published Sunday revealed that Tucker Stewart, the deputy assistant secretary of agriculture, has become the talk of Washington after a 28-page love story he previously penned—featuring graphic ███ ██ scenes and other explicit content—made its way through government circles.

Stewart reportedly shared the X-rated tale, that centers on a cowboy living in Washington, with fellow Hill staffers while serving as a senior adviser to GOP Sen. Roger Marshall, the role he held before he became top Capitol Hill liaison for Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins.

The Kansas native is now at the center of D.C. gossip as his story circulates not only through USDA offices but also among trade groups, lobbyists, and officials in other federal departments, POLITICO reported.

Disowning Jesus, Accepting the Lie

In context, Peter and John, two of Jesus’ disciples/apostles, were instrumental in the healing of a man who had been lame from his mother’s womb. While the man was still clinging to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them, full of amazement, as if the apostles had healed this man by their own power. And the following was Peter’s response to the people:

“The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him. But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, but put to death the Prince of life, the one whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses. And on the basis of faith in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.” (Acts 3:13-16 NASB1995)

Now, when I read this, I got to thinking about how this might look today, from a spiritual only perspective. For there are many people today who are professing faith in the one true God – the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit – but who are denying the Lord Jesus and his teachings, in practice, and who are replacing Jesus in their hearts and minds with a false god and a false christ created in the minds of human beings, who is the opposite of who Jesus was and still is today.

For, if all we do is we make a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives, but then we are not crucified with him in death to sin, and we are not raised with him to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin, but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness, and so we go on living in sin, deliberately and habitually, and so we ignore his commands, and so we do not obey him, in practice, we, too, are disowning Jesus, and we are seeking a replacement for him and for his gospel.

Do you see the parallels?

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

For by God-gifted faith in Jesus Christ, which is not of our own doing, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but as slaves to righteousness in walks of obedience to God’s commands. We are no longer to permit sin to reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires. For if sin is what we obey, it results in death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, it results in sanctification, and its end is eternal life with God (see Romans 6:1-23).

The grace of God, which is bringing us salvation, is training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives while we wait for Jesus’ return. For Christ “gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (See Titus 2:11-14; Ephesians 2:8-10)

And we learn in 1 John 1-3 that if we claim that we have fellowship with God, but yet we walk in darkness (sin), we are liars. If we claim that we know God, but we do not obey his commandments, in practice, we are liars. For it is not the one who claims he is “in Christ” who is “in Christ,” but it is the one who has denied self, died with Christ to sin, and who is now walking in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in practice, and no longer in sin. We have the hope and the promise of eternal life with God in heaven.

Therefore, if we buy into a “gospel” message that teaches that all we have to do is to profess faith in Jesus Christ with our lips, and now all our sins are forgiven, and heaven is now our eternal destiny guaranteed, but regardless of how we live, we are accepting the “murderer” in place of Jesus Christ, and we are disowning Christ and who he is and what he did for us on that cross. For Jesus put our sins to death with him on that cross that we might die to sin and now walk in obedience to his commands in holy living, in his power.

Walking in The Light

An Original Work / November 16, 2011
Christ’s Free Servant, Sue J Love

When I lift up my voice, and
Sing praise unto God,
I will fellowship with my
Lord and Savior, King.
In Him there is no darkness.
He is in the light of truth.
If we walk in His light,
From sin He purifies.

If we repent of our sins,
He’ll forgive us now,
When we humble ourselves, and
Before Jesus bow.
The man who says, “I know Him,”
But does not obey His truth,
There is no truth in him.
In darkness still he’s found.

Do not love the world of sin,
For it is hell bound.
If you follow the world, you’ll
Not in Christ be found.
The world and its desires
Will not last; they’ll expire.
The one who does God’s will,
Receives eternal life.

See that what you have heard from
Christ remains in you.
Then, you’ll remain in Christ, and
In His Father, too.
This is what He promised us –
His eternal life with God.
So, continue in Him, and
You’ll receive a crown.

Is Wikipedia a 'reliable source' for Martin Luther?

Hello all,

I am not Lutheran but I was reading about him with the family. You see, there is a town in England who has different martyrs listed as street names successively, and Martin Luther was one of them. I knew who he was, what he was famous for, but my family didn't know a lot about him so we read about him on Wikipedia.

If you get the time or inclination or, perhaps you already know the answer, could you read and let me know if you think Wikipedia is a fair representation of Martin Luther's life and work?

Martin Luther - Wikipedia

If not, is there somewhere else we can learn about him?

Thank you and God bless.

Humanitarian Issue- Child Witches Autism Is Not A Spiritual Attack

Hi everyone, I read some years ago about children in Nigeria who have autism being singled out in communities as being a witch or being possessed by the devil. There are other vulnerable children also who are singled out in this way as well, some may have been born physically disabled etc. This is happening in several diverse countries as well labelling children as child witches. This has happened and happening today in countries such as Angola, Uganda, The Gambia, South Africa, Sierra Leone, The Congo, Ghana, Liberia, Ethiopia and other Sub Saharan countries. This practice grew in South Africa during COVID. This also has been reported in other countries today as far wide as England which if it is experienced is treated as abuse and sometimes it can lead to safeguarding. According to a 2025 Guardian article in the year running to March 2024 alone, the Department for Education (DfE) recorded 2,180 assessments of “abuse linked to faith or belief. These people are misusing Christianity and people may be harmed and this needs to be eradicated

I will say this that as a Christian and someone who is diagnosed with autism this case does move me this story. I am a Christian and God knows how to manage my autism and has done several times in my life. I was blessed with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit at 17 that has equipped me to cope in life and I am under God's divine protection. Psalm 139 says that God created me for a purpose and that we are all wonderfully and fearfully made.

At 17 I served in the church ministry using my spiritual gifts. I am part of Jesus kingdom to as an autistic, we can all be members of the Body of Christ regardless of what conditions we have. My testimony of my faith can be found on this blog where I give an account of serving the Lord in the church.

I am Christian and also a humanitarian. After a degree in major in religious studies and minor in communications. I studied International relations and covered human rights, the UN, conflict resolution and religion amongst other subjects.

Any person has the capability for the devil to tempt and use them we know from the New Testament. So, based on this I would argue that it was possible for anyone to be tempted and used by the devil and we all need to use Jesus' teachings to overcome evil. Labelling children wrongly as child witch based on solely having a condition and often a severe type is grossly wrong. There are though people in our community who are more vulnerable who may experience stigma, lies and injustice because of having a disability. We have to take them into our protective arm as Christians.

Autism is not a spiritual attack and everything God makes is good. God is it at liberty to use an autistic person for his glory as he has done with me and help us to manage our conditions by being baptised through the Holy Spirit. I cannot deny though God’s power and authority and nobody can limit Christ. This though is not the article to uncover Jesus’ miracles. The majority of us though God will leave as we are and support us to praise him with our blessings.

Remember this-we will be judged according to our conditions by God who created us and any sin post original sin for human kind will be cleansed by Christ for all of us who obey the law. We are all God’s children and are created for a divine purpose (Acts 17:28). "And he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being.”

I felt moved and drawn to this topic and I did donate to Patrick School of Languages in Nigeria which is a legitimate school for those who are neurodiverse or have a learning disability and also reached and supported to CRARN which is mentioned in my article. As Christians we are asked to give charitably (Luke 12:33).

What is the situation and how can we help?

There are still stories today of children being labelled as witches who are autistic and who experience other disabilities today. In 2022 in Liberia 22 children (8 boys and 14 girls) were accused of witchcraft.

I return now to Nigeria and examine how the issue of traditional religion fused with Christianity is impacting on a very small proportion of children’s lives in the Akwa Ibom case. I choose this case as I cannot cover every state. There are other known states in Nigeria like Cross River where this has been a problem. It is a criminal act today in Nigeria to promote child witch hunting and this was banned in 2008, but things are slow on the ground and moving slowly to improve and we need more help and support to eliminate this illegal act.

During the colonial rule traditional practises were targeted such as traditional religion and sacrificial practices but this has re-emerged in recent times.

There are false ministers who also maybe looking for financial gain in some Pentecostal and Charismatic Christian church's also and some may use traditional practises also that call for animal sacrifice or another ritual ceremony such as the disposal of possessions or marking the child with animal blood. Instead of being called a witch, some people may be called a demon by outdated people as well for having the condition-such as was the case of Rev Rachel Noel when she was ordained and was diagnosed with autism. Some may tell family members that their loved one are witches this can drive wedges between family members. These services can be arranged privately and take place not during normal service and can become hidden.

People can pay sums of money to ministers in hope that they can remove their loved out of this supernatural realm by being used as a witch/demon agent. These children may experience numerous deliverances as well or exorcisms which are not needed which can leave them exhausted and confused an akin to a mere skeleton which may cloud their mind with fear that they have been a tool of the devil and built to be as well. This is scheming and mind games as well.

This can no doubt cause some family members to reject or abuse their loved ones and drive them away and become exiled from their home. This situation can be experienced worse due to poverty and disability which can cause some people to end up blaming other people for all their so called bad luck. It is often extremely difficult to be disabled in a lower income country where support can be hard to find or not available. I have seen young people on skateboards and an amputee trying to find income on the streets, at 25 it was a disturbing sight to see for the first time.

A centre called CRARN and an organisation called Stepping Stones Nigeria have emerged to deal with this challenge. There are other special needs schools which have been set up to provide education and humane treatment for individuals meeting this group. The Patrick School of Languages in Nigeria is an example of one such school that has been established form the efforts of a parent whose child experienced discrimination being told they their child was a spiritual attack and they was discriminated.

The governor of Akwa Ibom state passed the Child’s Rights act so that people could be prosecuted that demonise and stigmatise a child in such a manner. This does just not happen to children but I am focusing on children in this blog post. The enactment of the Child’s Right act did not stop all cases from happening as people close ranks to make it harder for them to be made accountable to the law. There was also a case in the UK in 2006 when a child’s body was found in the River Thames. The police named this child ‘Adam’ police did believe that this murder was ritual related.

Using conflict resolution the children that are abandoned by their parents in such centres I do think that it would be beneficial if such parents were counselled in a group by a minister over a few days in faith that can point out to the flaws in their thinking. Their beliefs do need to be challenged. Returning to the community might be difficult and if there is a head of a village they should try in mediate in this situation as they are normally respected in their communities. Also if these children cannot return home from fear of attack from other members in the village I would suggest that relocating them might help to unite parent and child. Also, banning such films that may encourage this sort of abuse I do believe is also a good idea.

I have given my life to life to Christ who I work voluntary for by documenting my life experience with my faith online and also by working as a hospital chaplain volunteer and activity coordinator once a week in a hospital and also do voluntary gardening at church-this topic is important to me. I do not have children of my own. I will not have children of my own, let’s see what we can do to help. If you feel moved by this topic-why not help them.

I hit my button again and donated today for the second time to CRARN which link you will find below. God has said we should be involved in justice and humanitarian issues and dismantling them. One of the five missions of the church is to support injustice.

Let’s see what we can do to help. If you feel moved by this topic-why not help them.

I have suffered from religious and spiritual abuse in my life.

This culture of abuse needs to be stopped. There is a way out of religious abuse and you can seek support. In Nigeria children with autism have more neurological issues with it.

Fallen in love, but...

Shalom

I bring our precious brother Andrew today with a request for prayer:
He has fallen in love with a woman, but she is divorced (Matthew 19:9), and he also faces many other challenges (God knows them all).

Can you please pray for him in Jesus' name?

Thank you for your prayers, and may the Lord bless you abundantly (Luke 6:38, Job 42:10) and may He bless Israel in Jesus' name. Amen!

Soli Deo Gloria

PS And I pray that the Lord will send out harvesters in His harvest (Matthew 9:38).

Midrash on Torah Portion "Ki-Tetze" (Commandments relevant for even Today)

Parashah: Ki Tetse” (when you go out) DEUT 21:10-25:19

In this Bible/Torah study, we encounter numerous common-sense commandments that are relevant today, and we can also examine some commandments to see how we can apply them, perhaps not so much literally, but spiritually and morally. In some cases, both. According to some rabbis, there are approximately 74 commandments within these five chapters, many of which remain relevant today. (We need to look at the “big picture”)

But I would like to take a look at the first verse that says; “When you go out to war against your enemies…” the word “enemies” in the original Hebrew is “o’y’Veykha” in the English, we see two “y” s y the Hebrew, those are two “yods” In the ancient Hebrew, the “yod” was a “hand”. A hand holds a weapon to fight in a war, such as a knife, sword, spear, bow and arrow, sling, etc.

The rabbis of old comment that the reason for two “yods” is that we fight against two kinds of enemies, the enemy from without, meaning another person who wishes to do us harm, or harm our families, or fight against our country, and the enemy from within, meaning the “Yetzer Hara” the sin nature, perhaps even bodily diseases. Since we all have that sin nature, it is a constant fight against the enemy inside, and only through the Holy Spirit can we put it under foot. Like the meaning of the word, “Tzadik” (one who hunts or controls his monkey), the “monkey” being the sin nature.

I am not going to go into every commandment, because that would take up a lot of time, and many people tire after reading two pages, especially on these Forum sites. So, I will briefly mention how some commandments remain relevant even today. We also have the "big picture." What is God telling us?

Verse 10 in Chapter 21 talks about taking a captive woman from the enemy and making her your wife. This applied to soldiers during wartime. But what is the "Big Picture?" Could we say that God wants to show compassion on widows who lost their husbands, mothers, fathers, perhaps even children in times of war? Something to consider. The soldier will take her back to the Israelite camp, and there, she will be permitted to mourn for her family, yet here, she will meet the "True God" of “compassion”. Her pagan gods didn't save her, yet here is the God of Israel. She will be given a chance for a new life.

Today, wartime is cruel, and many wives and mothers lose their husbands and children in battle. Should they not be comforted and given a chance to remarry, should they thus choose to do so? I would say yes.

Chapter 22: Here, the commandment is to return lost objects, even animals, to their owners. Would not this commandment also be for today? Today's philosophy is "Finders keepers, losers weepers." That is not God's way. If the owner can be found, we need to return those lost items to their owners. be those items, wallets, tools, jewelry, and even lost dogs and cats. If YOU lost your wallet, wouldn't you want someone to return it to you? (money intact)

Verse 5. "A man should not wear women's clothing nor a woman, men's clothing." In ancient times, the clothing was almost the same. Long tunics that reached the ankles. The difference was the material and the design. Fine linen and feminine design, and probably a silk belt or sash for women, and coarse and perhaps darker cloth for men, and maybe a leather belt for men. Today, there is a lot of unisex clothing. But a man does not look good in a dress.

Verse 8. Most houses in ancient times had flat roofs; here in Central America, some do. There would be stairs going up to the roof so that the family might sit on the roof in the cool of the evening and relax. The commandment of a wall or fence around the roof was given. It makes sense, so no one would fall off. We might take this a step further. God's Word is our roof, and we study and relax in it. It is also a "fence" so we might know the boundaries so as not to venture beyond into Satan's realm.

Verse 10. "Do not plow an ox with a donkey together." Why not? Because the ox is stronger than the donkey and will cause undue strain on the donkey, and the donkey will cause undue strain on the ox, causing it to slow down. We could say that this is an "unequally yoked" union. The same can be said about a mixed marriage. A believer with an unbeliever, each pulling the marriage rope in opposite directions, end result? the rope will break! (the big picture) Better have Mr. and Mrs. Ox plowing or "Mr. and Mrs. Donkey plowing together. Works out better.

Verse 12: “You shall make Tzitziot (tassels) on the four corners of your garments.” This remains relevant today for Messianic Jewish believers and addresses our relationship with Messiah Yeshua, as well as our connection to the Torah and its commandments. The number of windings and the blue thread are 7, 8, 11, and 13, which are significant. (7+8=15) (Yod + Hey) and 11 (Vav=6, and Hey = 5) YHVH and “Echad” (ONE in unity) (13)

24:14 “You shall not abuse a needy and destitute laborer, whether a fellow countryman or a STRANGER (foreigner) in one of the communities of your land.” Very important to know that ALL workers, including immigrants, should be respected, helped, and not HARRASSED! All workers need to be paid their wages on time, whether it is daily, weekly, or monthly.

25:13 talks about “diverse weights” very important to conduct “honest business transactions”, not crooked and unfair. Unfortunately, we live in a world of greed, where some people take advantage of others to exploit them. These scammers prey on others to get the upper hand. Be cautious, especially online. Are not these commandments for today? You decide. I would say yes. But I want to go back to one part of this study, which is the "big, BIG, picture" our salvation is based on it. We need to go back to Chapter 21:22.

This concerns a person who has committed a capital crime and received the death sentence. Their body is NOT to remain on the tree or "stake" all night, but to be taken down and buried before sundown, because a person who has been "hanged" is cursed by God. What a message for us all!

The death penalty in ancient times, in Israel, and in Roman-occupied Israel was stoning (not hanging), and for a Roman citizen, beheading (as in the case of Paul the Apostle. The body was displayed to the public, either hanging from a tree or a stake, or from a cross (the Roman method of death). This would be a warning to the public for "would-be" offenders. The corpse would have to be taken down and buried before sunset.

Such was the case for our LORD and Savior, Yeshua, who was nailed to a cross for our sins and paid the death penalty in our place. God laid the "curse of death and condemnation" on the SON, as explained in Galatians 3:13; "The Messiah redeemed us from the curse pronounced in the Torah by becoming cursed on our behalf, for the Torah says, 'Everyone who hangs from a stake comes under a curse'

All we need to do is accept this great sacrifice our LORD and Savior made on our behalf. It is needless to "die in our sins." The price was paid, the death penalty paid in full. Nothing is left owing. It isn't YESHUA plus works, it is YESHUA plus nothing else. Have a blessed week.

Another Woman Killed by Man Under-Prosecuted for Previous Crimes

A man fatally assaulted a retired Auburn University professor and veterinarian on Saturday while she was walking her dog in Auburn, Ala., the police said.

The police said the man, Harold Rashad Dabney III, 28, of Montgomery, Ala. was arrested on Sunday on two counts of capital murder in the killing of Dr. Julie Schnuelle, 59, a mother whose body was found in a wooded area of Kiesel Park, which has a popular off-leash area and is a few minutes’ drive from campus. The cause of death was “multiple sharp force injuries,” the local coroner’s office said.

Action 8 News has discovered that Dabney has a criminal history in Virginia.

In Virginia Beach in December 2023, he was charged with having a sawed-off shotgun — which is a felony.

His case file is easy to dig up. I don't know how to link directly to the charges, but if you go to the Virginia Beach General District Court records page and search for "Harold Rashad Dabney", they'll pop right up. All five charges appear to stem from the same incident on 12/27/23, when he was arrested for apparently being drunk and trespassing while in possession of an illegal, sawed-off shotgun. Of the five charges, one of the gun charges was a felony, punishable by between 2-10 years. The other four, including two other gun charges, were misdemeanors.

From what I can gather, it looks like prosecutors dropped the felony in exchange for him pleading guilty to the four misdemeanors. The combined punishment for the misdemeanors was a sentence of 365 days, with 335 of those suspended (i.e. serve 30 days) plus one year of probation.

If only those weak, soft-on-crime Democrats had punished this black man like he deserved, he would've still been in jail and his white victim would still be alive.

Oh, but the Governor of Virginia, the Mayor of Virginia Beach, and the Commonwealth's Attorney for Virginia Beach are all Republicans.

This poll regards the interpretation of Rom 2:1

Romans 2:1 KJV
1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

Many students of the scripture think this pertains to the Jews. ALL the Jews.
Reading the verse by itself, it seems to be speaking to everyone who might judge another. I disagree. The first word of the verse is "Therefore" which would mean "in light of what was previously discussed." This refers to the previous chapter, where Paul articulates a long list of behaviours by sinners. The final verse says:

Romans 1:32 KJV
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Romans 2:1 speaks to these people. They were rank sinners whose sins were so bad that they deserved death. Paul would seem to be saying that these sinners should not judge others who do the same things they were doing.

Romans
1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
2:1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
