The Folly of Fools is Deceiving

Proverbs 14 Select Verses ESV

3 By the mouth of a fool comes a rod for his back,
but the lips of the wise will preserve them.
7 Leave the presence of a fool,
for there you do not meet words of knowledge.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way,
but the folly of fools is deceiving.
13 Even in laughter the heart may ache,
and the end of joy may be grief.
17 A man of quick temper acts foolishly,
and a man of evil devices is hated.
22 Do they not go astray who devise evil?
Those who devise good meet steadfast love and faithfulness.
23 In all toil there is profit,
but mere talk tends only to poverty.
25 A truthful witness saves lives,
but one who breathes out lies is deceitful.
33 Wisdom rests in the heart of a man of understanding,
but it makes itself known even in the midst of fools.

Who are the foolish? They are those who act foolishly, who are dull in understanding, who are nonsensical, lacking a grip on reality (acting as though brainless) (source: bible hub). They are the unwise, the senseless, the ill-advised, thoughtless, irresponsible, self-indulgent, and reckless. But this doesn’t mean that they are lacking in smarts (knowledge), for many of them are very intelligent people who just behave unwisely. Many of them are well versed in the Scriptures, too, but who live the opposite.

For those who act foolishly are not necessarily lacking in knowledge. They know right from wrong, but they choose to do wrong instead of right. And, again, many of them know the Scriptures, for they were taught the Scriptures, and some of them were or still are teachers of the Scriptures, too. So, it is not what we know which makes us wise and discerning. It has to do with what we do with what we know, whether or not we put what we know to be the truth in practice, or if we are just talk but no action.

For the wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way, but those who act foolishly do not bother with discernment. But again, it is not that they are not capable of discernment but that they choose against it in order to do what their sinful flesh desires, regardless of the consequences. For they are the self-deceived, i.e. they are those who tell themselves lies in order for them to be able to do what they know is wrong but without conscience. But they may also be people who can readily recite the truth, when they desire.

So we need to be discerning people who test what we are hearing from others, in prayer, and against the teachings of the Scriptures. For there are many foolish people out there in positions of power and rule and authority and leadership, including many pastors of “church” congregations. And although their words may sound good, and feel good, it doesn’t mean that they are good, for liars and deceivers abound in our day and time, just like the Scriptures warned us that they would.

And then we need to leave the presence of those who are teaching lies which tickle itching ears and which distort the truth of the gospel to make it more palatable to the ungodly and to human flesh. We should not sit under the ministry of those who are knowingly and deliberately teaching what they know are lies, (because the Bible makes it clear that they are lies), who teach a very cheapened form of the grace of God and the gospel of our salvation which does not require death to sin and obedience to our Lord.

It should grieve us terribly that so many people professing faith in Jesus Christ, including many pastors, are living just like the ungodly or much like the ungodly, and they are excusing away deliberate and habitual sin while still claiming salvation from sin and eternal life with God. And it should grieve us terribly that this is the situation with many people who are our teachers and pastors who are then leading their people to a false faith which gives them permission to keep on in deliberate and habitual sin.

Now in verse 17 here it says that a man of evil devices is hated. That may have been true back then, but I would say that the opposite is true in this generation. Everything, it seems, is being flip-flopped. Good is being spoken of as evil, and evil is being spoken of as good. The one who follows the Lord in obedience and in submission to his will is regarded as a legalist or as judgmental while the habitual and deliberate sinner is raised up and praised and given honor and value and acceptance (not true in all cases).

But Jesus told us that if we follow him with our lives that we will be hated and persecuted like he was. So if you are someone who takes God and his word seriously, and you are walking in obedience to his commands, although not necessarily in absolute perfection, and if you are sharing the gospel truth as Jesus taught it and as his NT apostles taught it, and if you are refuting the lies of the enemy, then you should expect to be hated, rejected, cast aside, unwanted, avoided, ignored and/or fought against and attacked.

But we should not let that discourage us, for it is the truth that saves people’s lives, not the lies that make them feel good for a season, until reality finally hits. And so we must put other people’s lives above our own comfort and acceptance. And we must put God above all things and all people in our lives and follow him and his truth, regardless of how we get treated in return. For even if they hate us in this life, God’s word will not return empty, and we never know who might later on turn their hearts and their lives over to Jesus Christ because we dared to tell them the truth.

So, just know the truth of the gospel is that we must, because of what Jesus did for us on that cross, by his grace, and in his power, deny self, die daily to sin and to self, and follow our Lord in obedience to his commands under the New Covenant. For if we hold on to our old lives of living in sin and for self, we will lose them for eternity. But if for Jesus’ sake we deny self, die daily to sin, and follow our Lord in obedience, then we have the hope of salvation from sin and eternal life with God, provided we continue in that faith.

Oh, to Be Like Thee, Blessed Redeemer

Lyrics by Thomas O. Chisholm, 1897
Music by W. J. Kirkpatrick, 1897

Oh, to be like Thee! blessèd Redeemer,
This is my constant longing and prayer;
Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures,
Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.

Oh, to be like Thee! full of compassion,
Loving, forgiving, tender and kind,
Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,
Seeking the wandering sinner to find.

O to be like Thee! lowly in spirit,
Holy and harmless, patient and brave;
Meekly enduring cruel reproaches,
Willing to suffer others to save.

O to be like Thee! while I am pleading,
Pour out Thy Spirit, fill with Thy love;
Make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling,
Fit me for life and Heaven above.

Oh, to be like Thee! Oh, to be like Thee,
Blessèd Redeemer, pure as Thou art;
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

When do we receive the Paraclete?

The Paraclete indwelling operation was released for the first time only after Jesus had died on the cross, John 16:
7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate [Paraclete] will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
When does a believer receive the Paraclete?
1 John 4:
13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.
I.e., the Paraclete
14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
John 14:
23 If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
I understand the "we" above refers to the Paraclete. However, there is not exactly one consistent precise moment for all believers when the Paraclete will dwell in them. On the day of the Pentecost, Acts2:
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
i.e., the Paraclete
39 This promise belongs to you and your children and to all who are far off—to all whom the Lord our God will call to Himself.”
Elsewhere in Galatians 3:
1O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. 2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?
I interpret the Spirit here as the Paraclete. Here, Paul didn't mention baptism.
Ephesians 1:
13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is the guaranteed of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
What happens afterward?
Sanctification, Galatians 3:
3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? 4 Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? 5 Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith
The indwelling Paraclete is connected to our human spirit. This is our vital connection as we grow in the Spirit. Our spirit cannot grow without this connection.
From my personal experience, I list the following sequence of events:
  1. I heard the gospel for many years here and there but never believed it.
  2. One day, I heard it again and finally believed that Jesus is the Son of God. Presumably, the Paraclete took up residence in me at this time, but I was unaware of it.
  3. Some days later, a Christian friend led me into the prayer.
  4. A few months later, I could perceive the Paraclete speaking into my conscience now and then.
  5. A couple of years later, I was baptized.
  6. I started to read the Bible and pray daily.
  7. A couple of years later, I could perceive the Paraclete in me and sense peace every time at any time.
This is the role of the Paraclete in initial salvation plus daily sanctification.
When do we receive the Paraclete?
It is up to God. On our part, believe, repent, get baptized, and love and obey God.
Once the Paraclete has taken up residence in your spirit, you can sense him in your conscience/spirit. Every time you do, you will have peace. I have never once doubted God or my salvation since, not even for a brief moment, not even when I experienced the most terrible things in my life.

If Jesus has bought you with his blood, will you inherit eternal life?

1 Cor 6:

19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought [G59] with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Glorify God in your body.

1 Cor 7:

23 You were bought [G59] at a price; do not become slaves of men.
Do not become slaves of men.

Berean Standard Bible, Revelation 5:

9 And they sang a new song: “Worthy are You to take the scroll and open its seals, because You were slain, and by Your blood You purchased [G59] for God those from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.
Will you inherit eternal life if Jesus has bought you with his blood?

Maybe not, 2 Peter 2:

1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
You are bought with a price, glorify God, don't be slaves of men, and don't be false teachers.

Fox has it become the Trump channel

So while i am not a Trump hater nor supporter as a Conservative Republican I have notice Fox News as it’s seem to become bias toward Trump, just like msm is on the Democrats. I once liked Fox but this all Trump station is making me sick. I like must of Trump stand but the way he belittles others, hoping for Nikki Haley. Has anyone seen Fox give anybody beside Trump some good coverage?

How tall were Adam and Eve?

So what do we have in scripture? Well we know about this text which many use..
Genesis 6:4
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

and others..

Numbers 13:33
And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Deuteronomy 1:28
Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

Deuteronomy 2:11
Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims.

Deuteronomy 9:2
A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of Anak!

Joshua 13:12
All the kingdom of Og in Bashan, which reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, who remained of the remnant of the giants: for these did Moses smite, and cast them out.

Joshua 17:15
And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.

Deuteronomy 3:11
11 For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.

1 Samuel 17:4
And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.

And we get more from How tall was Adam? | GotQuestions.org
'The presence of very large animals and insects in the fossil record lends support to the theory that Adam was very tall. In 1940, the fossilized wing of Meganeuropsis americana was unearthed in Oklahoma. This dragonfly-like insect had a wingspan of almost two and a half feet (Harvard Magazine, Nov-Dec 2007, “DRAGONfly,” www.harvardmagazine.com, accessed 5/20/20). In 2020, fossils of giant turtles were found in northern South America: the shell of Stupendemys geographicus measures nearly nine and a half feet long, about 100 times the size of its nearest living relative (The Washington Post, Feb 13, 2020, “Turtles the Size of a Car Once Roamed the Earth. Scientists Just Found Their Fossils,” Reis Thebault, www.washingtonpost.com/science, accessed 5/20/20). Those who conjecture that Adam was taller than modern man reason that, if the animals were extra big in “prehistoric” times, why not humans?

Another bit of “evidence” suggesting that Adam was of great height is the mention of “giants” in the Bible: the Amorites of Canaan, the Rephaim, and Goliath the Philistine, for example. When encountering the people of Canaan, the majority of the Israelite spies claimed that “the land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size” (Numbers 13:32). Amos states how the Amorites were tall in stature, hyperbolically comparing them to tall cedar trees (Amos 2:9). A Rephaite, King Og of Bashan, who opposed the Israelites in Moses’ time, is also described as a giant in the Bible, having a bed that was “more than nine cubits long and four cubits wide” (Deuteronomy 3:11). If the bed matched his stature, then Og could have been around 13 feet tall. Furthermore, Goliath is described as being six cubits and a span, which is over nine feet in height (1 Samuel 17:4).'....

Then we have this from SOP..

"As Adam came forth from the hand of his Creator....He was more than twice as tall as men now living upon the earth....Eve was not quite as tall as Adam. Her head reached a little above his shoulders." (Spiritual Gifts, Vol. III p. 34).

Man was the crowning act of the creation of God, made in the image of God, and designed to be a counterpart of God.... Man is very dear to God, because he was formed in His own image.3The Review and Herald, June 18, 1895.

As Adam came forth from the hand of his Creator he was of noble height and of beautiful symmetry. He was more than twice as tall as men now living upon the earth, and was well proportioned. His features were perfect and beautiful. His complexion was neither white nor sallow, but ruddy, glowing with the rich tint of health. Eve was not quite as tall as Adam. Her head reached a little above his shoulders. She too was noble, perfect in symmetry, and very beautiful.(The Story of Redemption, 21.)

Man came from the hand of God perfect in every faculty of mind and body; in perfect soundness, therefore in perfect health.(Good Health, March 1883)

God endowed man with so great vital force that he has withstood the accumulation of disease brought upon the race in consequence of perverted habits, and has continued for six thousand years....
If Adam, at his creation, had not been endowed with twenty times as much vital force as men now have, the race, with their present habits of living in violation of natural law, would have become extinct.(Testimonies for the Church 3:138, 139.)

Created to be “the image and glory of God,” Adam and Eve had received endowments not unworthy of their high destiny. Graceful and symmetrical in form, regular and beautiful in feature, their countenances glowing with the tint of health and the light of joy and hope, they bore in outward resemblance the likeness of their Maker.(Education, 20.)

"Adam’s height was much greater than that of men who now inhabit the earth. Eve was somewhat less in stature;" (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 45).

So SOP has that Adam was more than twice as tall as men today. Now take a look at this video..

Two Alabama clinics pause IVF services after court rules that embryos are children

Three Alabama clinics pause IVF services after court rules that embryos are children

It's gonna be difficult but totally possible to not make this thread about abortion...but, let's try.

Really simple: What parts of this are a good thing and what parts of it are bad?

My thoughts: ALL bad.
The court rules embryo's are children? So child support? Child benefits?

The impact on families pursuing IVF: Mortifying that they have to be put through this.

And the organizations themselves? Well, they, I think I are taking very reasonable, intelligent steps to ensure they don't break the law. Of course the law is absurd, but they don't want to break it.

Some of these rulings just seem so utterly arbitrary and ill thought out. It seems absurd that people intelligent enough to sit on a Supreme Court could possibly be convinced that this is sensible legislation.

Don`t you think there`s lack of leadership in your country?

I mean, everybody walks around society thinking they're brains, and then they attack you mentally because they've never seen a normal person. And romance is gone, is just straight to sex. Constant nagging about finding a girlfriend too, they weren't even interested before, there's just been a change in the "brain" that makes you suddenly available. And then you are for the future then, technology and such, and become violent if someone is different and does not care to be in society. There is a total lack of leadership in the country, as confused as they seem, you learned to ignore people around you from early on, so there is no communication, no actions to improve others, so the rest of us have to take the brunt all the time when we talk to others. Aren't you tired of all this nonsense? There is constant word of mouth as well, something new every day that you have to ignore, you live in society then, not in nature anymore. I would be bored as hell if I was part of society :)

Why did the devil omit "to guard you in all your ways"?

Psalm 91:

9 Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place— the Most High, who is my refuge— 10 no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent.
The psalmist used hyperbole.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.
These were not absolute guarantees. The psalmist encouraged people to trust God using poetic exaggerations.

Satan tempted Jesus in Mat 4:

5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple 6and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written,
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,’
and
“‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”
The devil deliberately omitted the infinitive phrase. Why?

The omission was a distraction. With or without the phrase, the passage was about trusting God. Jesus was not distracted. He did not argue with the devil about the omission. As usual, Satan tried to provoke people to sin: Test this: If you throw yourself down and the angels do not catch you, then you are not the Son of God.

7 Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
Jesus was not distracted and was focused.

Why did the devil omit "to guard you in all your ways"?

He tried to distract Jesus' thinking with the omission. It didn't work. Jesus knew the difference between trusting God and testing Him.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signs law that allows people to refuse to ‘solemnize’ marriage licenses

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signs law that allows people to refuse to ‘solemnize’ marriage licenses

Last week, Tennessee state lawmakers passed HB 878, which states “a person shall not be required to solemnize a marriage.”

[When this comes to government employees, there's a definite problem.]

“Tennessee House Bill 878 would be patently unconstitutional,” Taylor said in a statement to CNN. “Public officials don’t get to assume public office and then pick and choose which members of the public to serve.”

“My answer remains the same regardless of whether this bill was intended to target marriages of same-sex couples, interfaith couples, or interracial couples — it’s unconstitutional because the Constitution prohibits public officials from discriminating against members of the public based on their personal beliefs,” Taylor said.

Dating the Exodus

I have dated the Exodus to 1479 BC. This is 430 years after the birth of Isaac and 530 years before the Dedication of Solomon's Temple.
In 1479 BC a Pharaoh died named Thutmose II. He didn't leave a male offspring until year later to take the throne. His mummy was analyzed and bares scabrous wounds that are consistent with a boil plague. There were additionally other mummies during that time that were found with the same scabrous wounds.

Christians being excluded as unfit or bigots...

Seems like Christians wont be able to sit on any cases in this new 'Woke' environment, be prepared to be taken out....

'A Missouri prison worker’s legal fight against on-the-job discrimination this week provided U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito — one of the court’s most conservative members — an opportunity to denounce the landmark decision recognizing same-sex marriage nationwide...
..the U.S. Supreme Court also declined to hear the case — effectively upholding the trial decision for Finney. But the victory came with a five-page statement from Alito laying into Missouri courts and expressing concern about Obergefell, the 2015 opinion that legalized same-sex marriage across the country.

“In this case, the court below reasoned that a person who still holds traditional religious views on questions of sexual morality is presumptively unfit to serve on a jury in a case involving a party who is a lesbian,” Alito wrote, referring to the Missouri appeals court.

“That holding exemplifies the danger that I anticipated in Obergefell v. Hodges … namely, that Americans who do not hide their adherence to traditional religious beliefs about homosexual conduct will be ‘labeled as bigots and treated as such’ by the government.”...

One by one the fundamental rights of Christians are being superseded by the 'Woke' agenda, incredible....

How do Messianic Jews understand John 7:53-8:12

So if I remember right John 7:53-8:12 is called the periscope de adultera. But many earlier church leaders question it place in Scriptures because Jesus so easily forgave the adulteress woman plus many without regarding Jewish customs state John 7:53 makes no sense. So I was wondering do Jewish Believers have a united belief on this passage and if so what is it?

What is the law and what is the testimony ?

What is the law and what is the testimony ? ( Israel is a perfect example of complete lack of law and testimony.)

To understand what this is, is to have light inside.

Another guidance to what Isaiah 8:20 is speaking about, is in proverbs.

Pity upon the poor is lending to the Lord, and the Lord repays that which was given again.

Alsohow unjust people ( Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and DESTITUTE OF THE TRUTH, SUPPOSING THAT GAIN IS GODLINESS: from such withdraw thyself. 1 Timothy 6:5.) who by usuary to GET UNJUST GAIN, really only gather all they have for the ones who will pity and give to the poor.

Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Proverbs 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Proverbs 28:8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

Jesus gave the law and the testimony, of the light which is spoke about in proverbs, that with what measure you make, that same measure is returned to you again. (lend unto the Lord; and that which he has given will he pay him again.)

This is the testimony, that we are evil, but give good to our children, and God gives more good things to us, than we do to others, being evil. This then is exactly what the law and the prophets are testified to be, that we are to believe in doing all things to men as we would like to be done for ourselves. ( both from God and from men.)

Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

Matthew 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Now we are beginning to learn what the testimony of what light in the Lord means,
( O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the Lord. Isaiah 2:5
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: .Ephesians 5:8.)

Light of the Lord, ( to the law and to the testimony or there is no light in them.) is to WALK AS CHILDREN OF LIGHT.

Jesus told the world the testimony, to be merciful as our Father is merciful, no condemning to not be condemned ourselves, (
And THIS IS THE CONDEMNATION, that LIGHT IS COME INTO THE WORLD, and MEN LOVED DARKNESS rather than light, because THEIR DEEDS WERE EVIL John 3:19. ) to give, and it shall be given to us, men giving to us, for with the same measure that we make, it is measured to us again.

The blind cant lead us, they are not in any of the light, the parables meaning is clear, we are to believe in the law and testimony of Christ, nothing else.

Jesus testifies to us to be careful how we hear, how the same measure we make is measured to us, and to those who hear, ( the law and the testimony) more shall be given. To him that has, ( light) more shall be given, from him that has not, ( who has darkness) it is taken from him what he had. ( seemed to have light/blind leader of the BLIND.. Luke 8:18.)

Luke 6:36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?
40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

Luke 8:18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

Mark 4:24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

Israel who labours not for eternal life, asked what to do for temporary life ? Jesus answered Israel to instead believe on who God had sent to them. The Jews continued to seek signs.

The apostle Paul, ( persecuted by the Jews of Israel) continued how flaming fire is the vengeance on those who do not know God, who failed to obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, when He comes to be admired by all those who believe, because their testimony among them was believed in that day.

That was why they prayed always for those who hear, that God would count them worthy of this calling, to fulfil all the good pleasure of His goodness, the work of faith with power, ( the work of God is to believe on Him whom He sent.) that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in them, and them in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

2 Thessalonians 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Is this the man to lead the US?

Persecuted for the Gospel.

I have been going to the parks and sharing the Gospel for about a year and a half now. During this time, Satan has tried to discourage me in several ways. So, I thought I would list them so that you may see how Satan will do his best to bring you down.

1. Just as I was starting to share the Gospel, I had a church member ring me and yell at me telling me that the Holy Spirit is not with me. (Since then, the person has returned to me and apologised, and we are still good friends. He has even said that what I am doing is right and we should all be doing more of it.)
2. A certain leader of the church told me that we are no longer to go out and share the Gospel by speaking it out aloud. He told me that what I am doing can scare people away from Christ. He said that now we are to do it differently. We are to make friends with the unbeliever first and then share the Gospel. So, this leader would not support me in speaking the Gospel publicly. The church would not even support a BBQ. I was very disheartened. (NOTE: I do evangelism in a very similar way as what is taught in "Way of the Master". Living Waters. Ray Comfort.)
3. I have been told by a church member that since this leader does not agree with sharing the Gospel in public, that I should not be going out and sharing. He said that I was going against the church by doing so.
4. I have been called a false teacher by a church leader because I think a non-believer needs to see his sin first and know that he has sinned against God and needs to come to repentance. This member believes that you can be saved in "many ways". SHE IS VERY WRONG. Jesus died for our sins, so we need to know we have sinned against Him.
5. When I first started practising how to say the Gospel, I spent hours each day saying it aloud. I wanted to get it right as I did not want to bring disrepute to the Gospel by having a poor presentation. But, because my children heard me practising, a member of the church said that my kids were being scared away from God because the message I had was scary and judgemental. (My kids are in their teens. Aged 13-20 and they have a strong faith)
6. I have lost friends. These friends have come and apologised but sadly, things will never be the same. (We are still friends but not as close)
7. I have had some people get angry at me while sharing the Gospel. This is expected though. Jesus even said people would hate us if we shared the Gospel. (Bad News and the Good News)
8. I was shut down at a Christian music festival for saying the Gospel in 1 to 1 evangelism. In saying this, I had not arranged with the organisers if I could do this. So, it is really my fault. But I was very disappointed.
9. Today I went to the park and said the Gospel to a lady. She said that she was adamantly against God and that she was a hardcore atheist. Then, this afternoon I had a phone call from the police asking what I was doing in the park. They heard from this lady that I had been giving chocolates to little children. So, I had to explain that I share the Gospel with as many people as possible and I initiate the conversation with a challenge where people can win chocolate. I explained that I try to talk to people from about the age of 12 and upwards. (Many kids have not heard the Gospel and the older they get, the more likely they will put up walls against God. So we need to talk to them). The police officer did not tell me that I was not allowed to share the Gospel but that I just needed to know that some people may not like it.

Now, I know that many people are persecuted unto death. So, this list is very minor really. But I thought that I would post this to show you different ways in which Satan will try to bring you down and stop you from sharing. He can do it from within the church and from the outside.
Anyway, if you are getting persecuted for sharing the Gospel, do not let it get you down. Instead, rejoice. God Bless.

THE 10 Commandments of Faith

"But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." - Matthew 15:9
Today we have many who teach the 10 Commandments are not for today. This is NOT what the Bible teaches. This is an example of the erroneous false doctrine out there today, from a random website:

Do these 2 verses above even begin to sound like the 10 commandments are abolished? - "To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law,"... "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ."

They mainly argue from Galatians, and also misinterpret other scriptures. They argue because
of Romans 6:14, "for ye are not under the law, but under grace," but need to quote everything in context, which is Romans 6:14-15 "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid."

First: as for Galatians, Paul is mainly addressing those who said you had to be circumcised, and keep certain days (Galatians 2:1-4, 4:9-10, 5:2-3, 6:12-13), which are the weak and beggarly elements (4:9)

Second: There is the moral law of the 10 commandments written by the finger of God Himself: Exodus 31:13 "And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God." Then there are the rest of the 613 laws contained in ordinances that were written by Moses at the direction of the LORD, many of which are ceremonial laws dealing with the Temple and the Priesthood. These are what Christ nailed to the cross: Colossians 2:14, ""Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross" Cheirographon is the Greek for Handwriting which means written by hand; but the 10 commandments were written by God.

Third: Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, not the obedience to it (Galatians 3:13) The curse and penalty of the law we are not under: John 1:17, "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." This does not mean the 10 commandments were done away with, it just brings in that Jesus Christ comes with grace and truth. And we will see how we keep the law by grace, through faith, just as we are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8) Nor are there any more sacrifices under the law, for Christ became the perfect one time sacrifice, once for all. (Hebrews 7:27, 9:12, 9:24-28)

What the antinomians (Those who are against the law) fail to connect is Galatians 5:18-23. Ye are not under law IF you walk in the Spirit (5:18). Then Paul lists the works of the flesh, which if you do you SHALL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD. (5:19-21) Every single one of those works of the flesh is a violation of one or more of the 10 commandments, with the exception of "Thou shalt not steal." However, before you think you can shoplift from the store, "Theft" is listed in 1 Corinthians 6:10 in that thieves shall not inherit the kingdom of God, along with adulterers, homosexuals, extortioners, etc. Thievery is also covered under covetousness, for a thief does not steal unless he covets what he wishes to steal.

We must let scripture interpret scripture. So why would Paul say we're not under the law, then turn around and say if you break the law, you won't inherit the kingdom of God? Unless he meant something else, which is clear he does, because he is dealing with ceremonial aspects of the handwriting of ordinances, circumcision, the keeping of days and weeks, and such like. Basically, works. He also talks about the curse and penalty of the law which Jesus delivered us from.

That we are obligated to keep the moral law of the 10 commandments is clear from the following scriptures:
Mathew 5:17-20, (Jesus speaking here) "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven."

Matthew 5:27-28, "Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." Here Jesus even makes the true meaning of the law more expansive: Not only is the physical act of adultery a violation of the commandment, but just the thought of lust; and that means fantasy, pornography - looking at a girl in any lustful way, and same goes for girls looking at guys, or same sex looking at same to lust.

Romans 2:13-16 (Does this sound like Paul is telling anyone the law is completely abolished?) "(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel."

Romans 3:31 is pivotal: "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law." I've shared previously how "establish" here means "to stand in, keep its place, establish, keep intact, uphold the authority of a thing." This is one of the most powerful verses in the entire Bible regarding whether or not we are obliged to obey the 10 commandments.
We also see this verse, Rom. 3:31 is written at the end of the chapter containing " Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;..." and, "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." (Rom 3:19-21 & 28) But these only show us that the law points out sin, and trying to keep the law as a method of salvation (works) is not the way, and you cannot be justified by it; rather, by faith we ESTABLISH the law, that is, keep it, by faith.
Romans 6:1-2 &6-7, (Using same language he did in 3:31), "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin."
Now look at 1 John 3:4, "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law"

Romans 7:12, 14, 25 & 8:1 - 4, (This goes back to Galatians 5: walk in the Spirit, there is no condemnation, because you are keeping the law, and not committing the lusts of the flesh, which is the breaking of the law of the 10 commandments): "Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.... For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin...I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

1 Timothy 1:8-10, (Again, the law points out sin, and the law is good) "But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine."

1 John 2:3 & 7, & 5:7, "And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments...Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning....For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Revelation 12:17, "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."

Revelation 22:14, "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city"

Oh, but the antinomians say all that means is love: Jesus told us to love each other, that is all. Define love then, and specifically what Jesus meant by it. It is true He meant love, but He clearly states, "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." (Matthew 22:37-40)
Loving the Lord your God with all your heart fulfills the first 4 commandments. Loving your neighbor as yourself covers the last 6. One is your relationship between you and God, a vertical relationship: Look UP for your redemption draweth nigh. The second, love your neighbor as yourself is your relationship to people, a horizontal relationship, and even in this we see the form of the cross. So the 2 commandments about love, and all the scripture about love that John writes IS the keeping of the 10 commandments, and Jesus calls us to DO THEM!

Galatians 5:13-14, "For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
1 John 2:3, I'll close with this. It's pretty clear if we look at the Bible and search the Scriptures we see the law in the 10 Commandments is most certainly for today, and whosoever teaches otherwise is teaching false doctrine: yea, is even a false prophet, and Paul would go so far to call them accursed in Galatians 1!
"For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous."

Understanding New Testament Jewish baptismal practices.

Baptism as a Jewish institution was well known and in common practice in the NT era. The Pharisees baptized themselves often. It was customary to baptize themselves before eating a meal. Also after coming from any market place, they baptized their hands.

  • Mark 7:2, 3, 5: The Pharisees had seen that some of His disciples were eating their bread with unclean hands, that is, unwashed. 3 For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they carefully wash their hands, thus observing the traditions of the elders; 4 and when they come from the market place, they do not eat unless they baptize (βαπτίσωνται) their unclean hands.
  • Also Luke 11:38: The Pharisee was astonished that “Jesus had not first baptized (ἐβαπτίσθη) [his hands] before dinner."
The whole of the Jewish culture practiced ceremonial baptism every day. Of course, Jesus severely criticized the Pharisees for this ceremonial baptism, as this baptism was only commanded for the priests in the OT and not for the common people (Mark 7:5-7). Enforcing ceremonial hand baptisms on the whole population was, according to Jesus... “holding to the tradition of men.” (Mark 7:7)

We certainly can refer to these baptisms in English as "immersing hands in water" or "washing hands in water" as they are linguistic equivalents.

We make two distinctions between Jewish baptism and Christian baptism.
  • Jewish baptisms were repeated over and over again many times a day. Christian baptism is done once.
  • Jewish baptisms were performed by the individual himself, whereas in Christian baptism, another Christian baptizes the recipient.
