  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

By Swerving From These

“Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope, to Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
“As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith. The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion, desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions.” (1 Timothy 1:1-7 ESV)

The “different doctrine” which is of the most critical nature today, with regard to the hope of salvation from sin and eternal life with God, has been named “the cheap grace gospel,” but not that God’s grace is cheap. It is not! But that there are those who have cheapened it by altering and diluting it and making it less offensive to the ungodly and to human flesh. They have, in fact, weakened it to the point to where the sinner can keep on in his deliberate and habitual sin while still claiming heaven as his destiny.

So God, who is the author of the Scriptures, is prohibiting this practice of teaching any different doctrine, but only the one that Jesus taught and that his NT apostles taught, if understood correctly when read in its appropriate context. And it isn’t just that some people are teaching a false doctrine, but that they are being deceptive about it and they are hiding the truth of the gospel in order to lead people astray from the truth and in order to capture them with the lies. And they are rejecting the truth as though it is the lie.

Now the doctrine of Salvation that Jesus taught, and that his NT apostles taught, was that Jesus Christ died on that cross to put our sins to death with him so that by faith in him we will be crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin, but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness. So we are not to let sin reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires. For if sin is what we obey, it will lead to death, not to life eternal with God.

[1 Peter 2:24; Romans 6:1-23; Romans 8:1-14; Matthew 7:21-23]

But those who are teaching this “different doctrine” are concealing that truth from the people. They are concealing from them that the Scriptures teach our salvation as progressive (the process of sanctification) which will not be complete until Jesus Christ returns and he takes his faithful bride to be with him for eternity. But we will only go to be with him for eternity if we are walking in obedience to his commands in holy living, not necessarily in absolute perfection, and if we are not walking in deliberate and habitual sin.

[Galatians 5:16-21; 1 John 1:5-10; 1 John 2:3-6; 1 John 3:4-10]

For the gospel of our salvation, which is of God, demands that we deny self, die daily to sin, and walk in obedience to our Lord’s commands. For his commands set boundaries (restrictions, limits) for us for our good so that we don’t indulge in the sinful nature, but so that we put that sinful nature to death, by the Spirit, so that we can walk in the ways of the Lord according to his commandments which are for our good. His commands teach us to cease with lying, immorality, adultery, stealing, and the like, by God’s grace.

[Ephesians 4:17-32; Titus 2:11-14; Luke 9:23-26; 1 Corinthians 10:1-22]

But so many are teaching that faith in Jesus Christ does not require death to sin or walks of obedience to our Lord’s commands or holy living. Or they may teach those things as desired but not required, still leaving the sinner with the impression that he can “believe” in Jesus but keep living in his sin. And this is where many professers of faith in Christ are, seizing the opportunity to give way to the flesh for their own enjoyment but while claiming forgiveness of all sins and heaven as their eternal destiny.

So, they reject God’s commandments, i.e. his controls and his restraints, and they override them by their own decisions to live for the sinful pleasures of the flesh. They may or may not make a surface impression that they are following the Lord with their lives, but their hearts are not surrendered to the Lord, because they are the ones still running their own lives and choosing their own choices and not God’s. And so they assume that just because they professed faith in Jesus that God will overlook their sinful choices. But that is a wrong assumption based on a lie of Satan.

[Romans 2:6-8; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Galatians 6:7-8; Ephesians 5:3-6]

Should I Not Preach Jesus

An Original Work / July 4, 2013
Based off 1 Corinthians 9:16-10:13

Woe to me should I not preach Jesus.
I’m compelled to preach the full gospel.
I make myself a slave to ev’ryone
To win their hearts to Christ.
All this I do for my Lord Jesus,
And for the sake of His Name;
Do it for the sake of His gospel,
So that I, its blessings gain.

Scripture notates the sins of others;
Written down for us as examples
To keep us from setting our hearts
On evil as did those of old.
Do not worship other gods of man;
Do not give your hearts to them;
Not partake in immorality.
Do not test your Lord and King.

So, be careful if you think you are
Standing firm in your faith in Jesus.
God has given his word to warn us,
So through faith we will not fall.
No temptation has o’ertaken you
Except what is commonplace.
God is faithful to not let you be
Tempted past what you can bear.
He gives the way of escape.

vain repetitions

What do you think that the Lord means when he says "Thus therefore shall you pray"?
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
(Matthew 6:5-13 KJV)
Can you obey the Lord's command without praying the Lord's prayer?

Can blasphemy also happen when a word that has sacred meaning which was written down goes through an act of disposal?

Is it blasphemous to write "God" for example, and for that note to end up being disposed in the trash?

Can blasphemy also happen when a word that has sacred meaning which was written down goes through an act of disposal?

The context for this is bc when I was eating a snack, I noticed the wrapping had written on it the address of where it was made, and in the country where I live in I often see addresses (streets, cities, etc) with religious names on such food wrappers like “Holy Faith” or “Saint Peter” etc… Out of doubt, I have been collecting so many food wrappers with addresses like that due to me not knowing yet for sure what I should do with them, and I don’t want to offend the sacredness of the meaning behind such words by the way of disposing the wrapper…I’m terrified of blasphemy against The Holy Spirit..

I now started to worry on even doing transactions with businesses that have food wrapped with addresses like that, bc it seems for some reason wrong to me to sell or buy something with such words and for that to probably end up in the trash by many..

Is there something in the Bible that can give some thought to this? What verses are out there talking about a similar topic to enlighten my conscience? Is it blasphemous to dispose of those wrappers in the trash?

I think I saw somewhere that Jews try not to write the name of God, perhaps out of a similar fear as mine? And that they bury texts with sacred words instead etc… is there a way to treat the thing (paper, wrapper, etc) where a word with a sacred meaning has been written? Does the paper require a special treatment out of the sacred meaning of the word it may have?
And is it okay to transaction with a business that sells food wrapped in paper with an address which contains word that has a sacred meaning and for it to end in the trash by many?

I’m a non-denominational Christian btw

Pls help my conscience :(
Thank you!

Life's a Game?

Headed nowhere, that’s the game.
Changing nothing, still the same.
Fighting battles, not to win,
For intending to give in.

Play with fire, will get burned.
Not intending hearts to turn.
Always running here or there,
Seeming to not have a care.

Making fun of everything.
Joking, laughing, life’s a fling.
Entertainment – where it’s at!
They’re not kidding – that’s a fact!

Have no purpose, so escape,
To a world that’s truly fake.
No direction, nothing gained,
Living life now so in vain.

Life so empty, void of God.
Pleasure driven where they trod.
God in heaven looking down
Speaks His message to these clowns.

You will surely reap what’s sown.
If for pleasure, you will drown.
If for God in Heav’n above,
Life eternal giv’n by God.

But I Received Mercy

“I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Timothy 1:12-17 ESV)

Not one of us is saved from our sins, delivered out of slavery to sin, saved from the punishment of sin, and given the hope of eternal life with God because of our own goodness, in our own flesh, but only because of God’s grace to us in sending Jesus Christ to that cross to take upon himself the sins of the entire world, putting our sin to death with him so that, by God’s grace, we will no longer walk in sin but now in righteousness and in walks of obedience to our Lord and to his commandments (New Covenant).

[Heb 12:1-2; Eph 2:8-10; John 1:12-13; John 6:44; Acts 26:18; Rom 3:9-26; Rom 5:12-19; Rom 6:1-23; 1 Co 15:21-22,42-49; 1 Peter 2:24]

And we are only able to be the Lord’s servants and messengers and witnesses for him and for his gospel because he delivered us out of our slavery to sin and he gave us new lives in Christ Jesus to now be lived for him and for his purposes, by his grace, and in his power and strength. And only because of God’s grace in pardoning us from our sins and in renewing us in our spirits and minds, and because he chose to call us to his service, can he use us for his purposes in ministering his word to the people.

So, I am not here doing what I am doing because I lived a perfect life. I did not! I followed the Lord closely for a period of time, and then I had a time of failure, but then he drew me back to himself, and when I turned back to him, and I surrendered my all to him, and I accepted his sovereignty over my life, and that I will have trials and tribulations as part of serving him, then he called me to this present ministry of writing down what he is teaching me each day from his word and to place these on the internet.

And when God called Paul (then Saul) to the work of the ministry, he was on his way to persecute even more believers in Jesus Christ, for then he was opposed to Christ and to his followers. But God turned him around, just like he did with me, and he changed him, and he gave him a new lease on life, not because Paul (Saul) was a righteous man, but because God was going to change him into a righteous man, by his grace, and he was going to empower him to live a holy life and to share the gospel of our salvation.

Many people erroneously misinterpret Paul’s words here when he said that he was the foremost of sinners (he said “I am” the foremost). But if we read of Paul’s life in the Scriptures, and all that he taught in the Scriptures, and did, we will see clearly that he was not saying that he was (present tense) the foremost of sinners, in practice actively. But he saw himself as the worst of sinners in comparison to all others because of what he had previously done in persecuting the church, which was against Jesus Christ.

For we need to go back a few verses to verse 13 where Paul stated that he was “formerly a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief.” So he said that he formerly was this person who he described as the foremost of sinners, for that is how he viewed himself, not that he was still living that way. But the things he had done to other Christians, he believed, categorized him as the worst of the worst. But by God’s grace, he was delivered from that life of sin.

See: Was Paul a Hypocrite? II

Paul did not deserve God’s grace and mercy, and I did not deserve God’s grace and mercy for the time that I deserted him and I gave in to my flesh. So I am extremely humbled that God would choose to call me to this ministry, and that, I believe, is what Paul was expressing, too. He had no room for pride, and neither do I. He was well aware that all that he was able to accomplish was only by the grace of God, but as he submitted to God’s will for us his life. The same with me. So all the glory goes to God.

So, what does this tell all of us? We don’t have to be defined by our pasts. But, for some people, their past is still their present, for they are still living in the past, still doing all the same evil they did before without change of heart and mind and direction. So this is not saying that we can continue living in sin and that God is going to use us to be his witnesses and messengers and servants. But it does encourage us that not all is lost. We can still come out of our pasts and change and be given new lives to live.

So, even if you are one who has failed yourself and others and God miserably, as long as you are still alive, God can change you and make you into someone he can use for his purposes if you will turn from your sin and now commit to following the Lord wherever he leads you. You are only “wasted space” if you choose to be. Your past life does not have to be your present life. And it doesn’t matter if your sins, in your opinion, were the worst of the worst. God can change you, if you will surrender to Him.

Songs in the Night

An Original Work / December 18, 2013

“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.” Acts 16:25 NIV ‘84

Lord, I praise You forevermore.
You, my Savior, I now adore.
Hope in heaven awaiting me,
Because You died at Calvary.

I have been forgiven,
And I’m bound for heaven.
Jesus set me free from
All my sin, I say.
I will praise Him always!

Lord, I love You for all You’ve done:
Overcame death, my vict’ry won!
Jesus saved me, and now I’m free!
I rejoice in His love for me.

I will walk in vict’ry!
My sin is but hist’ry!
I am free to please Him
With my life today.
I will love Him always!

Lord, I thank You for giving me
A new life bought at Calvary.
Loving Jesus, I meet with Him.
Tender mercies now flow within.

Lord, I am so thankful;
Through my Lord, I’m able
To sit at His table;
Fellowship with Him.
I will thank Him always!

Paul's handkerchiefs healed people

Ac 19:

11 God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them.
Paul did not directly contact these sick people but indirectly through his handkerchiefs or aprons. God worked miracles through Paul using different methods at different times. The handkerchief method was not a normative practice for Christian healing—then or now. There is no formula to effect miracles.

Is there scientific support for Racism in China?

According to Science race does not exist. Yet we still have racism. It is interesting with my son that no one has ever guessed that he is asian. They say black or hispanic but never once has anyone ever said asian. So even though there is no scientific basis for race people still get to choose what "race" they are.

In American we have a very long history of dealing with "racism". According the the United Nations and scientific studies it has been shown that China tries to deny that racism exist and so they do nothing to control racism in that country. They are far behind other countries in controlling this issue.

This is the Wiki article on racism in China.

'God Bless Bitcoin' doc makes moral case for cryptocurrency as alternative to 'corrupt' financial system

The intersection of faith and bitcoin — and the government's misuse of money — is at the center of "God Bless Bitcoin," a documentary by Christian couple Brian and Kelly Estes hoping viewers will rethink their relationship with money and enable them to become better stewards of their God-given resources.

The documentary, releasing July 25, seeks to answer the question, "How do we fix our broken money?" by examining the moral and ethical dimensions of current financial systems and the broader implications of Bitcoin's rise.

Narrated by Natalie Brunell, the project highlights voices from both the financial and religious spheres, including Bitcoin experts like Anthony Pompliano, Cathie D. Wood and Michael Saylor, as well as religious leaders such as Dr. Darrell Bock of Dallas Theological Seminary and Fr. Robert Sirico.

"For 3,500 years, humans used gold and silver as money. In 1971, we shifted to fiat, and it's clear that this system doesn't work for everyone," Brian Estes, CEO & CIO of Off the Chain Capital and longtime Bitcoin enthusiast, told The Christian Post. "It steals from the poor and the middle class, and it gives it to the rich. It's an unjust system, but we could opt out of that system."

For the Esteses, parents of two who both co-wrote and co-directed the film, the journey to creating the documentary began with a pressing concern about the state of the monetary system and a belief in the potential of Bitcoin to serve as a more ethical alternative.

"Over the past decade, we've watched our money lose its value, making it increasingly difficult for people to keep up with the rising cost of living," Kelly Estes told CP.

Fact Checking Biden

Fact Checking Biden

From angry yelling to that creepy whispering, Joe ran the gambit last night. Even calling Donald Trump his Vice President.

But let's look at fact checking some of the more creative things he said.

Joe said: “In fact, the day after Putin invaded Ukraine, here’s what he said. ‘It was genius.’ ‘It was wonderful.’ Some of you forgot that. But that’s exactly what he said.”

Reality is the DAY BEFORE Trump stated:

“You gotta say, that’s pretty savvy,” Trump said on a conservative talk radio show of Putin’s decision to declare certain breakaway regions in Ukraine as independent. “And you know what the response was from Biden? There was no response. They didn’t have one for that. No, it’s very sad. Very sad.”
“This is genius,” Trump said. “Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine … . Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful.”
Trump made his remarks on Feb. 23, 2022. Russian forces invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24.

Fact check fail - number one.

Joe said: “As a consequence, working with Mexico, border encounters have gone down over 50 percent. The current level is lower today than when Trump left office.”

Reality is:

Biden’s framing is misleading. He is referring to a Department of Homeland Security estimate that the seven-day average of migrant apprehensions dropped more than 40 percent to less than 2,400 encounters per day since he issued an executive action barring asylum at the southern border. But the numbers are still higher than when Trump was president.

Fact check fail number two

Joe said: There are at least five presidents running or incumbent presidents who had lower numbers than I have now later in the campaign.”

Reality is:

Biden’s whistling past the graveyard here. According to the presidential ratings tracked by FiveThirtyEight, Biden’s approval rating, 36.8 percent, at this point in his presidency is lower than any other presidents besides George H.W. Bush (36.7 percent) and Jimmy Carter (33.9 percent). Gerald Ford had an approval rating slightly higher. All three lost.
The statistics go back to Harry S. Truman and the advent of modern polling, so it’s unclear why Biden claimed five presidents had lower numbers.
Please note - the topic of the thread is fact checking Biden. I would ask to please stay on that topic -

Are the worms and fire used to torment living people? (Rethinking Mark 9:48)

Hell
Worms and Fire
Mark 9:48
Many Christians believe that the worms and fire that Jesus mentions in Mark 9:48 are being used to torment living people in hell forever. That is certainly a terrifying thought. Being burned with fire is extremely painful. Being eaten from the inside by worms is terrifying and would also be agonizing. And then if one thinks about these things going on for days, and then years, and then hundreds and thousands and millions of years on and on for eternity - well, it is terrible.
But is that what Jesus meant? I think he meant something different. I think he was referring to worms and fire consuming dead bodies and turning them to dust and ashes. What do you think? Why?

Could Peter have done otherwise?

Peter answered him, “Though they all fall away because of you, I will never fall away.” Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you!” And all the disciples said the same.

Could Peter have stuck to his guns and shown Jesus that He was wrong?

If You are Willing

If you are willing to obey Me,
I have treasures for you multiplied.
If you will follow Me where’er I lead you,
And Myself you not deny,

Then I will take you to the farthest corners
Of the world, in written word,
To millions who God’s great salvation
Not been told them, never heard.

For many still without the Savior,
They are dying in their sins each day,
They’re needing someone just to tell them
How to truly find Him; how to pray.

So tell them that the Son of God came
Down to the earth and became a man,
He was crucified upon a cross to
Forgive our sins. For, ‘twas God’s plan.

By faith in Jesus, who is The Christ,
The Son of God, who came down to die,
Our sins delivered; we are set free
To live for Jesus. This is no lie.
