  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Discussion on Karl Barth's The Epistle to the Romans.

Hi folks,

I'd love to foster a discussion on various theology books (I'm a bit of a book worm). I just finished K. Barth's Epistle to the Romans. I hail from the Anglican Catholic (Oxford movement) tradition but have a strong interest in reformed theology as well. These are some of my thoughts and I'd love to hear others perspectives who are versed in theological literature (my background is in Catholic and Classical Jewish Theology). In some ways it was an excellent rebuttal of liberal christianity and orthodox reformed protestantism. Barth's work seems to treat Christ's resurrection as unknowable noumena, threatening to sever the founding event from the church and symbolic tradition founded on it. This presents a number of similar (and dangerous) implications as much of liberal christian thought, which often attempts to find ways to make sense of Christ's ressurection without validating its historical necessity. I also read it a a deeply ant-catholic work in a lot of the ways it relates belief to classical notions of reason.
Anyway love to hear other people's thoughts on the work, including those who found it more of a positive contribution to Christian Theology than I do (which doesn't mean it isnt fascinating and valuable to study).

Revelation 23

Just testing :D

There never has been a literal Revelation Chapter 23. Revelation ends with Chapter 22.

There are sermons that have been entitled “Rev 23”, but those are part of a figurative sermon(s) that seek to expound on the post New Heaven and New Earth life with Christ.

A similar analogy would be the Acts 29 movement in China. There is no literal Acts 29. But the movement seeks to follow Christ as if it's the 1st century as a continuation of the early church but now in the present tense. China persecutes Christians today like many were persecuted by the Roman govt.

You can find plenty of nonsense on YouTube including preachers and teachers that misguide and mislead others.

Rest assured that John ended this inspired letter to the 7 churches of Asia at the conclusion of Chapter 22.

Why are Christians patriotic?

Can someone show me, from Biblical point of view, why Christianity is related to patriotism in many people's minds? I mean, I can see why this would be true when it comes to State of Israel. Of course there are many opinions in terms of whether it applies to Israel today, but that's besides the point. The point is: I know that there are verses about it, there is just a disagreement on how to interpret them. But if you look at the other countries, such as either US or Russia, then those countries are not even in the Bible, so what makes Christians living in those countries think they have to be patriotic? Again, I am not asking about proper interpretation of those verses. I am asking you to simply point what those verses are. Even if you disagree with interpretation, at least you know what those verses are in case of Israel. Now, tell me what are the verses in case of US or Russia?

And yes, I mentioned US and Russia for a reason. I was born in Russia and I moved to US at the age of 14. As such, I know that Russians view Russia as a holy land. And, of course, Americans view America as such. Which makes it ironic given how Russia and US oppose each other politically. So each side thinks their side is God and the opposing side is the devil. Neither side is aware that Christians on the other side also think God is on their side (at least neither side ever mentioned it). But then again, given that Putin and Trump seem to support each other, and each of them is being supported by Christians of their respective countries, it is kind of brings those two patriotisms together; but, again, neither side seemed to acknowledge it.

As far as US goes, some say it was founded on Babilon, which would be a good reason "not to be" patriotic. I guess they argue out of it by saying that patriotism applies to the time of founding fathers, while Babilon applies to today. But this doesn't really cut it. If prophetic role of the US is to be Babilon, then it was predestined to be one even at the time of founding fathers. Yet their claim is that America's true purpose was to be the nation of God, as exemplified by founding fathers, and it simply strayed from its biblical purpose nowdays. But, if so, how can you say it is a fulfillment of prophecy of Babilon?

As far as Russia goes, I read on the internet few weeks ago that in the Old Testament there was a hostile kingdom of Rush, which is believed to be Russia. If thats the case, then how can they possibly claim to be a holy nation? Or, if they reject the idea that Rush refers to Russia, then again we are faced with the question: where is Russia in the Bible?

Einstein vs Bohr parallels Calvinism vs Arminianism

On the science front, Einstein believed in determinism while Bohr believed in randomness. On religion front, Calvinism believes in predestination while Arminianism believes in free will. So the two parallel each other.

I used to be an atheist before I was 22, and became Christian starting from the age of 22 onward. Back when I was an atheist. I was a strong believer in determinism. Even after I learned quantum mechanics, I used to believe that there are hidden variables that would ensure determinism even in that context. I was unaware of Calvinism, I assumed all Christians believed in free will. And, in fact, this was one of my reasons of rejecting Christianity.

Then, after I became a Christian I subscribed to free will belief (by default). I learned about Calvinism only few years later. And when I learned about it, it was very hard to swallow, because it seems unfair. Which is ironic: back when I was an atheist, I believed in determinism. But that is because, as an atheist, I didn't expect anything to be fair.

I imagine there are probably other atheists, who oppose Christianity on the different ground that I did. Namely, they might say Christians are Calvinist, which would make it unfair. I haven't met them (I mean I don't meet a lot of people in general) but it seems right up their alley, since in current discourse atheists accuse Christians of biggotry a lot, they just don't mention Calvinism as they do it.

So its rather interesting: atheists that are motivated by science (like I was) would probably oppose Arminian version of Christianity, while atheists that are motivated by fairness (like American leftists) would oppose Calvinist version of Christianity.

Calvin University ordered to examine dissent on LGBT issues

The Christian Reformed Church of North America has instructed Calvin University to examine dissent among faculty and staff on the issue of homosexuality and same-sex marriage.

At the CRC Synod 2024, held last month in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the denomination's leadership instructed the Board of Trustees at Calvin to “define the differences in Calvin’s use of ‘confessional difficulties’ in relation to the decisions of synod concerning gravamen.”

A gravamen is an official statement that can be filed by church members and officials to address concerns about a specific part of the denomination's teaching that they believe goes against the Bible.

Has Joe Read Roe?

The president’s bad debate night can’t excuse the misleading statements he made about U.S. abortion law.

President Joe Biden’s disastrous June 27 debate performance was alarming on many fronts. But there was one element that was particularly troubling for pro-life Americans: his garbled articulation of Roe v. Wade.

Biden reveres Roe. Never mind that he disagreed with its reasoning as a freshman senator when it came out 51 years ago. Today, it’s his fifth gospel, the lynchpin of his abortion-focused presidency and now-faltering reelection campaign.

You might recall the exchange Biden had two years ago on the South Lawn of the White House with EWTN White House Correspondent Owen Jensen. Just before the president flew away aboard Marine One, Jensen managed to ask him if he thought there should be any restrictions on abortion.

“Yes, there should be,” Biden responded.

When Jensen asked what those restrictions should be, Biden yelled back, “It’s Roe v. Wade. Read it, man. You’ll get educated,” before hurrying off to the helicopter.

The question is: Has Joe read Roe?

The American Righteous Cause — Then and Now Freedom, like reason, needs faith to sustain it.

Today’s citizens of the United States of America are assaulting the faith of their founders and rejecting it outright, aggressively casting it aside, not unlike the Jacobins. One popular left-wing American magazine proudly calls itself, Jacobin. Many Americans no longer want the faith of their fathers.
Freedom, like reason, needs faith to sustain it. A nation cannot ascend to its noble heights on only one wing. A genuinely righteous nation needs both, in July 1776 and still today.

PCUSA moves closer to requiring clergy candidates to answer questions about LGBT views

The Presbyterian Church (USA) is one step closer to requiring clergy candidates to be asked about their views on sexual orientation and gender identity, in a measure some believe will target theological conservatives.

Known as the “Olympia Overture” after the presbytery from which it came, the proposal was divided into two parts, both of which were passed by commissioners at the 226th General Assembly on Wednesday.

Also known as POL-01, the overture will next go to the presbyteries for ratification, with the two parts of the measure being presented separately to the regional bodies for consideration.

Biden says he needs to get more sleep and work fewer hours: Report

The president said he told his staff members that he needs to get more sleep and lamented not listening to them about his schedule, a person who attended the meeting told the New York Times.
At one point in the meeting, Gov. Josh Green (D-HI) asked Biden questions about his health, prompting the president to respond that he was fine.
“It’s just my brain,” he said, according to the outlet.
Who knew? It wasn't a cold at all, simply a matter of getting a bit more sleep.

Fauci says he has ‘no doubt’ Biden is capable of continuing as president

“I don’t want to comment about what happened that night, but you know, to me, it just looked like a bad night,” Fauci said, “because my interaction with him was what I described in the book and what happened even subsequent to what I described in the book, after I got out.”
He called Biden “very probing in his questions, very analytical, very calm about things,” and said during briefings, Biden always asked “very relevant questions.”
Not surprising comments.

Christian theology knowledge, how deep you are into worshipping, and other dating deal breakers

This topic could simply be titled, "He isn't Christian enough for me", the operative word "enough".

I have noticed some Christian women complaining how they are single for a while because the Christian single men they keep meeting aren't as higher up on the scale that the women are when it comes to "being Christian". I mean, these are good, decent men, but apparently not being on the up and up on the scale of Biblical knowledge as their lady counter parts isn't necessarily fair, is it? I mean, no one's perfect.

For instance, some complain that even though they are weekly church goers, they are rather complacent in their faith, or hadn't risen up beyond the level they are currently are in their theology knowledge and passion. That men's theological knowledge is quite lacking. Apparently, Bible reading is a biggie, or lack thereof across the men folk. Example, it's not enough that a man is getting his knowledge via the weekly Bible study and listening to the pastor on Sundays?

It take it that it's more attractive for a man to shout "Can I get an Amen!!", than a guy that sits there quietly during servcies?

Apparently, this can be deal breakers with Christian women, yes...no? I would think the only kind a man this woman would be compatible with is a church leader or pastor?

Rumors Of 10-Foot Alien At Miami Mall Circulate Online—Here’s What Actually Happened

I had not heard of this one till today. :p

Rumors and video clips of panic, massive police presence and what social media users claim to be an eight-to-10-foot alien appearing at a Miami mall cropped up online Friday, though the digital buzz around the supposed appearance seems to be sourced from footage of a new year’s day brawl at the shopping center that involved several juveniles and a police response.

KEY FACTS

One low quality clip circulating on social media allegedly shows a tall alien creature walking between a dozen squad cars and an area near Miami’s Bayside Marketplace, though someusers on X, formerly known at Twitter, have casted doubt on the unconvincing nature of the video.

The scenes from the supposed appearance of the alien match up with news coverage and video footage that covered a New Year’s Day brawl at the mall that involved several fights and loud fireworks that caused a resident to report an active shooter, according to NBC South Florida, provoking a large police response.

A clearer video that closely matches the alleged alien clip actually appears to be 2 to 3 people, likely police officers, walking together between the squad cars and an area near the mall.

Mixed in with alleged footage of the alien were videos of people running in panic from the area, with some users conflating the clips with locals running from the creature.
Miami Police Department confirmed on Monday it received a call of shots fired and eventually concluded the reported sounds came from the fireworks, according to a post on X.

Four males were detained during the incident and face charges including burglary, grand theft, battery and resisting an officer, NBC reported, arrests made in connection to the assault of a man who confronted a group of teens he believed threw a bottle at his car.

CRUCIAL QUOTE

“There were no aliens, UFOs, or ETs. No airports were closed. No power outages,” Miami Police Department told Forbes in an email, adding that citywide officers were deployed for crowd control due to juveniles refusing to leave the area.

‘ There Is No Such Thing as a Gay Person,’ Says Rosaria Butterfield, Because Sexual Orientation Is an Unbiblical Idea

Author Dr. Rosaria Butterfield, who has criticized LGBTQ-friendly Christians as “heretical,” warns that terms used in the so-called “gay community” are not true. In a July 1 post titled, “I Don’t Have an LGBTQ Neighbor—and Neither Do You,” Butterfield called it delusional to describe people according to nonbiblical labels that imply “a different category of person.”

Writing at Clear Truth Media, Butterfield explained, “Do you have lesbian neighbors? No. You have neighbors. These beloved image-bearers of a Holy God have fallen into lusts of the flesh that wage war against God’s created order. But they are not a different kind of man or woman.”

Butterfield, 62, is a former professor who shed a “lesbian identity” and converted to Christianity. Now married to a pastor, she is the author of several books, including “Five Lies of Our Anti-Christian Age.

Last fall, Butterfield labeled Dr. Preston Sprinkle a heretic for spreading “lies” about same-sex attraction. She also took aim at his Center for Faith, Sexuality & Gender, in addition to organizations such as Revoice and Cru.

How Was Popcorn Discovered?

Could a spill by the cook fire have been popcorn’s eureka moment?

You have to wonder how people originally figured out how to eat some foods that are beloved today. The cassava plant is toxic if not carefully processed through multiple steps. Yogurt is basically old milk that’s been around for a while and contaminated with bacteria. And who discovered that popcorn could be a toasty, tasty treat?

These kinds of food mysteries are pretty hard to solve. Archaeology depends on solid remains to figure out what happened in the past, especially for people who didn’t use any sort of writing. Unfortunately, most stuff people traditionally used made from wood, animal materials or cloth decays pretty quickly, and archaeologists like me never find it.

We have lots of evidence of hard stuff, such as pottery and stone tools, but softer things – such as leftovers from a meal – are much harder to find. Sometimes we get lucky, if softer stuff is found in very dry places that preserve it. Also, if stuff gets burned, it can last a very long time.

Corn’s Ancestors

Luckily, corn – also called maize – has some hard parts, such as the kernel shell. They’re the bits at the bottom of the popcorn bowl that get caught in your teeth. And since you have to heat maize to make it edible, sometimes it got burned, and archaeologists find evidence that way. Most interesting of all, some plants, including maize, contain tiny, rock-like fragments called phytoliths that can last for thousands of years.

Scientists are pretty sure they know how old maize is. We know maize was probably first farmed by Native Americans in what is now Mexico. Early farmers there domesticated maize from a kind of grass called teosinte.

Before farming, people would gather wild teosinte and eat the seeds, which contained a lot of starch, a carbohydrate like you’d find in bread or pasta. They would pick teosinte with the largest seeds and eventually started weeding and planting it. Over time, the wild plant developed into something like what we call maize today. You can tell maize from teosinte by its larger kernels.

There’s evidence of maize farming from dry caves in Mexico as early as 9,000 years ago. From there, maize farming spread throughout North and South America.

Giving to the needy

There are always monetary needs for the poor. As Jesus said, “you will have the poor with you always”. I came across something in the Early Church Writings that I have always believed but I found profound regarding giving to the needy.

If you have read Isaiah on fasting you will notice he says that dealing our bread to the hungry should be a part of fasting:

Isa 58:5-8 Is it a fast that I have chosen, A day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head like a bulrush, And to spread out sackcloth and ashes? Would you call this a fast, And an acceptable day to the LORD? "Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.

I have always understood this to mean that when we fast we should set aside what we save (in food cost) and give it to the poor. I was pleasantly surprised to see one of the Early Church Fathers said this of fasting. Hermas (150 AD) had a series of visions which he wrote down, in one of these he said:
This fasting,” he continued, “is very good, provided the commandments of the Lord be observed. Thus, then, shall you observe the fasting which you intend to keep. First of all, be on your guard against every evil word, and every evil desire, and purify your heart from all the vanities of this world. If you guard against these things, your fasting will be perfect. And you will do also as follows. Having fulfilled what is written, in the day on which you fast you will taste nothing but bread and water; and having reckoned up the price of the dishes of that day which you intended to have eaten, you will give it to a widow, or an orphan, or to some person in want, and thus you will exhibit humility of mind, so that he who has received benefit from your humility may fill his own soul, and pray for you to the Lord. If you observe fasting, as I have commanded you, your sacrifice will be acceptable to God, and this fasting will be written down; and the service thus performed is noble, and sacred, and acceptable to the Lord. These things, therefore, shall you thus observe with your children, and all your house, and in observing them you will be blessed; and as many as hear these words and observe them shall be blessed; and whatsoever they ask of the Lord they shall receive.”

Notice how he said when we fast we are to only eat a little bread and water. Which fits with Isaiah who said “[is it really] A day for a man to afflict his soul”. He then said we are to give the money value of what we save, in not eating fancy to the poor. Not only that we were to do it with our whole house, that means the kids, too. In a consumer world, which is all about spending on self, it teaches our kids the importance of giving to the poor.

I have a birthday coming up, I plan to do this kind of fast for my birthday party, the money I save on gifts, and a cake will be given to the needy. But the kids will join in with bread and a coke, and rather than watch a video focused on wasting money, as YouTube is filled with, they will be taught about, and shown videos of those who go without and told of God’s desire to “not forget the poor”.

Why did Satan not kill Job's wife as he killed his children?

Satan bet against Job in front of God in Job 1:

11 "stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.”
God accepted the bet:

12 And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
Then Satan took Job’s property and killed his children, but he spared Job's wife. Why?

Because Satan wanted to use his wife to accomplish his bet:

Job 2:

9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die.”
That was the pivotal moment that Satan was waiting for. Would Job do what his wife said and accomplish Satan's win? The answer was a resounding "no":

10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak.
Job rebuked his wife for saying such nonsense.

Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
Why did Satan spare Job's wife?

Satan thought he could use his wife to get Job to curse God. Satan's plan failed.

Benny Hinn Promises Those Who ‘Sow Seed’ Money Will Be Protected During the Darkest Days ‘In the History of Mankind’

Benny Hinn, who is known for faith healing crusades and preaching a prosperity gospel, recently told his followers that donating “seed” money to his ministry will guarantee them financial protection in the midst of a future that will be darker than any other in human history.

“Well, listen, I want you to give to the Lord’s work. I want you to sow seed in the Lord’s work,” Hinn said at the end of a video titled, “Shameless Begging.” “We are facing days of such darkness and such danger unseen in the history of mankind. Unseen since Adam. Worse than anything that has happened in the past…and only those who’ve been faithful in giving to God’s work will be protected financially in those days.”

“A faithful man will abound…with blessings,” said Hinn. “So this is not just for now; this is for the future. A faithful man will abound with blessing. You can’t lose your seed. Any farmer will tell you that. You can’t lose your seed. Your seed goes into your tomorrow. Your seed goes into your future.”

Mark of the beast vs social credit vs mind control

Some smeculate that mark of the beast will be social credit system. One reason I disagree with this is because it doesn't force compliance. It simply penalizes people for lack of compliance. So, if someone has low social credit, would they go to hell for still being registered in the system? Or will they go to heaven because its low? Now, if the mark of the beast is "high" social credit, as opposed to social credit as such, this would be a problem too because what counts into social credit is not only Christianity but also things like not jay walking, not being delinguent on loans, etc. So, in order for it to be the mark of the beast, it shouldn't be a total score but, instead, just a religion score. So as you see it quickly gets complicated.

A more extreme version of the theory is that, for non-compliance, they turn off the chip entirely instead of simply lowering social credit. This theory has some problems too. First of all, if they turn off someone's chip, would they still go to hell for having a chip on the first place, or would they go to heaven becausd it was turned off? If they still go to hell, then it no longer has to do with actual compliqnce. If they go to heaven, thdn it becomes the opposite to the scenatio we all fear. The real scary scenario is when the government tries to force us to get a chip. But here its the exact opplsite: we are the ones who wojld be trying to convince the government (through our behavior) that they should keep our chip on; and then if we ever want to repent off of having a chip, all we have to do is not comply, they turn it off, and we are on our watny to heaven. Yes, it would mean starvation, but the good thing is that said starvation can be postponed by us making a choice how long to wait before we disobey, which takes away the whole dread of irreversibility of taking the mark.

Now, here is the theory that i propose instead. Microchip will "not" be "evaluating" our behavior. What it will do instead is "influincuing" peoples behavior by sending pulses to the brain. Scientists discovered that there is a region in the brain that is responsible for spiritual experiences. So, by sending pulses that would stimulate that region, microchip can create new spiritual experiences. For example, it can cause people to go into meditation state similar to Buddhism and accomplish world peace this way. Or it can cause people to have spiritual experiences when they see the image of the antichrist, and so forth. Since those experiences are not congruent with Christianity, people will go to hell for having those. And they will not be able to repent of them because now we are not talking about social consequences but, instead, we are talking about biological influence on their brain. And, in this scenario, instead of turning off the chip, the antichrist will turn it on to even greater power: whatever is needed to alter their mind.

I also think that people that will take the microchip on the forehead will have more powerful spiritual experiences than people that will take it on the right hand, since forehead is closer to the brain. Yet, even taking it on the right hand will still cause spiritual experiences that are powerful enough to lose salvation. So, when people will be faced with beheading or starvation, and wont be strong enough to refuse the chip in light of this, they will choose to take it on the right hand, and, to make themselves feel better, they will tell themselves that at least they arent taking it on the forehead. This is reminiscent how right now people are taking biometric documents and are making themselves feel better that they aren't taking a chip (I will be honest: I took some biometric documents, but i amat the stage where i have to renew them and I am procrastinating about it) So, today, people take biometric documents and tell themselves at least they dont take the chip, and tomoffow they will take a chip on tveir right hand and tell themselves that at least they arent taking it on tve forehead. On the other hand, others, who were deceived into thinking antichrist is christ, will gladly take it on the forehead.

A False Hope for Salvation

“The Lord looks down from heaven;
he sees all the children of man;
from where he sits enthroned he looks out
on all the inhabitants of the earth,
he who fashions the hearts of them all
and observes all their deeds.
The king is not saved by his great army;
a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.
The war horse is a false hope for salvation,
and by its great might it cannot rescue.” (Psalms 33:13-17 ESV)

God always sees what we humans cannot always see, for he can look into the hearts of human beings, and he can see what goes on behind closed doors in secret that us humans can’t always see. He knows and he sees and he hears the secrets of people’s hearts and their evil schemes and the things that are being done to us behind our backs which we cannot see. So God always knows even when we don’t know the evil being plotted against us.

Now he may not show us everything, but if we ask him, he may show us some of what goes on in secret of which we may not be aware, because he doesn’t want us to be deceived, and he doesn’t want us putting our trust and hope in other humans who cannot save. I know that I was blinded to a lot of things in my younger years which, over the past 20 years, the Lord has opened my eyes to and has made me aware so that I am not deceived.

So, how did he make me aware? He led me to read many different news articles and opinion articles and other people’s writings and historical records and such, in combination with where I was reading in the Scriptures, to show me what was going on with the US government and military, and with the institutional church, and in other nations, which included our government and military and their activities in these other nations.

This was at a time when the internet was more wide open and where it was easier to access particular information, and when it was not as locked down as what I believe it is now. But actually, a lot of this truth is coming out in various ways, even by the mouths of our own government heads, for they can now feel free to reveal some of the truth, for they are convinced that they have sufficiently brainwashed the people not to believe the truth.

But he does not want us to be deceived, and that is why we need to pray for wisdom and discernment so that we don’t end up believing the lies while we reject the truth. For with regard to the government, they brainwashed the people (not all people) that when they hear certain key words or phrases to automatically respond with “conspiracy theory,” and thus to shut our minds off to the information and to reject it without even praying about it and without seeking the Lord as to whether the information is true or not.

And the same trick has taken place within the institutional church, too, that when we hear certain words or phrases that we are supposed to automatically respond with “works salvation” or “replacement theology,” and thus to completely shut our minds off to what is being said and taught, even if what is being said and taught is absolute biblical truth being taught in the correct context. And all this is called “mind control.”

And a lot of this “mind control” takes place via television and movies and advertisements and social media memes and music and song lyrics and videos and cartoons, and via pastors of church congregations who are regurgitating what they learned in seminary or in their church growth or church planting training seminars, or in their marketing books on how to grow their churches and to draw in large crowds from the world.

So it is of critical importance that we test everyone and everything we hear or read or think we see, for deception abounds everywhere, and anything can be faked these days and photoshopped to make it look one way while it is something else entirely. So we must not close our minds and our hearts to allowing the Holy Spirit to show us what lies we are believing, and what the real truth is, for if we don’t, we are ripe for being deceived.

So, don’t put your trust in other humans to be your saviors from anything nor to tell you the absolute truth about everything, either. Lies and liars abound everywhere we look these days, including within the gatherings of what are called “churches.” But be seekers of truth and righteousness and ask the Lord to show you if you are believing any lies or if you have been brainwashed about anything and if you are being deceived.

Then put your trust solely in the Lord and in his word, but study the Scriptures in their context, and compare Scripture with Scripture to make certain that what you are believing is the truth and not Satan’s lies. For we live in the last days before our Lord’s return, and deception is definitely increasing and becoming much more prevalent. So pray, pray, pray to be wise and discerning and not to fall for Satan’s tricks.

For Our Nation

An Original Work / September 11, 2012

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.

LA Terrorist Kill New Zealand Tourist

68 year old tourist killed by LA tourist at Newport Beach, CA. The tourist was a 68 year old tourist from New Zealand and her unharmed husband will return home alone. You don't believe in demonic spirits? You haven't visited LA!

‘To hell with these guys,” Mayor Will O'Neil of Newport Beach said. “They came into our city, knowing that they were going to commit crime, and a woman is dead today because of it.”

What Constitutes a Christian?

I'm waiting for a ruling on whether or not I'm allowed to post within the For Christians Only sections of the forum.

I would describe myself as being on the very outside edge of Christianity (with sceptical doubts about supernatural claims), but I still see value in the Christian story and traditions.

Am I welcome here?

I strenuously struggle With the idea that belonging in Christian community Is dependant on believing the right things.
