  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Story, had a dream I died and went to hell

Hello, first off I believe in God. I've been to church, Bible study, had random runins with other Christians, etc. However, I really enjoy music. And not the lighthearted good kind, I'm into more darker music. It's a passion of mine and Ive met others who feel the same on this. If you feel that means I'm not a Christian, I hate when that happens, thats very judgemental

So sometimes I get sleep paralysis. If you don't know what it is, it's where something panics you and you try to wake up, even if you manage to you are literally stuck and cant move for some time.

This was one of those nights it was more intense. I had a dream I was having a heart attack. I was trying to get up to call 911. I dreamt I finally got up and went to my door and my mom and dad walked through it. He was in a tuxedo and she in a wedding dress(theyve never been married and aren't together) My dad and I aren't currently speaking but he was trying to comfort me and had this demeanour on him like he knew it was gonna happen.

I got up and seen out my window three shirtless guys running up to my apartment and got up ran to the door to lock it and I woke up.

The creepiest part is when I woke up id fallen asleep listening to music, and I heard gutteral moans and groans. I listened back to the song and it wasn't on there, I was actually hearing it.

I opened my phone and a video with the thumbnail said "Now you know what happened... Do not be worried though"

I then got up and watched a beautiful sunrise. I wasnt worried. I just knew what couldve happened if i hadn't been communicating with the Lord like I've been now for some time.

The Gospel of wealth: When pastors preach dollars over discipleship

We live in a time when the line between ministry and business has become increasingly blurred. From lavish lifestyles to questionable financial practices, many ask, “Is this what Jesus intended when He called us to serve?”

In this article, we will explore an issue that has raised eyebrows and sparked heated debates across congregations: the question of pastors making millions of dollars and the disturbing trend of so-called shepherds of the flock not serving in ministry for the right reasons.

From the outset, I don’t find it enjoyable to call out certain sins within the church, but as followers of Christ, we’re called to uphold the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable. The Bible is clear that there are times when we must speak up, not because we want to, but because we have to. Scripture warns us about the dangers of false teachers and unrepentant sin, emphasizing the importance of discernment and accountability within the body of Christ.

Where to start Church history, after Acts?

So I'll be teaching a Church History class in the near future, to students who are already familiar with Acts & the rest of the New Testament (the usual starting point for Church history--for very good reason!) I still plan to recap a little, but when we get into it, I don't want to focus on stuff they already know.

I could do some Roman persecution, or Church Fathers' writings, early monasticism, the Apostles' lives...but I don't know what would be the best thing to start with. Any recommendations?

Good visuals, sources, and/or videos are big bonuses, if you have any you can share. I teach high schoolers, so they can handle some higher-level content, but they still like flashy colors & good visuals.

Thanks!

Found out I am going to be first time grandmother

Found out I am going to be a first time grandmother today. My oldest son and his wife planned to have a kid and this will be their first child together. His wife has a 6 year old son from a previous relationship that my oldest son is a great step father to. I am excited and they told me today, found out on Wednesday.

Saudi Crown Prince buys painting of Christ for his new museum...Is this significant for the end times?

Mohammed bin Salman was the mystery buyer of "Salvator Mundi," a painting of Christ by Leonardo Da Vinci that recently sold for a record $450 million.

The buyer is Saudi Arabia's crown prince whose country forbids the official worship of Christ or any other religion except Islam.

The likely outrage is that an image of Christ is intended to be the centrepiece of a huge new museum in Riyadh.

It is too early to believe that the crown prince has become an apostate, but the idea of our Saviour and the returning King and Judge having a kind of victorious presence in the birthplace of Islam is eye-popping to me.

Caught Off Guard While Trying To Hand This Guy A Gospel Tract...

While finishing up evangelizing at the local farmer's market, I saw this guy standing around so figured he be the last one to pass a Gospel tract to while I head back. What he said shocked me and was totally unexpected. Curious how y'all would have responded because I was pretty much at a loss for words.

praying for prodigals

"And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!" Luk 15 Can see the chapter referenced about the prodigal son.

Praying and thanking our heavenly Father for the prodigals that will come to themselves.

Bible relevations 12: woman clothed with sun

1
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars

(In it Mary, mother of jezus?)

5
And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne

14
And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
...
(she lived in seclusion, outside the world and society)
.
15
And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
...
(the demon sent her many gifts and good things, but they were supposed to destroy her soul or distance her from God)

And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

Calvin's reasoning for the doctrine of reprobation

John Calvin was not trained in first-order logic. No one was at his time. Nevertheless, let me analyze his writing on the doctrine of reprobation in Institutes of the Christian Religion. Book III, Chapter 23, Section 1:

The human mind, when it hears this doctrine, cannot restrain its petulance,
"petulance" is an emotive word. It belongs in rhetoric, not in a formal argumentation setting. I prefer to stick to objective logic when I argue.

but boils and rages as if aroused by the sound of a trumpet.
He exaggerated the human mind's reaction. Again, it is rhetoric, not logic.

Many professing a desire to defend the Deity from an invidious charge admit the doctrine of election, but deny that any one is reprobated (Bernard. in Die Ascensionis, Serm. 2). This they do ignorantly and childishly
more emotive words

since there could be no election without its opposite reprobation. God is said to set apart those whom he adopts for salvation. It were most absurd to say, that he admits others fortuitously, or that they by their industry acquire what election alone confers on a few. Those, therefore, whom God passes by he reprobates,
He did not use the word "therefore" in the FOL sense. I am having trouble following his reasoning. For my taste, he needed to arrange his argument more linearly.

and that for no other cause but because he is pleased to exclude them from the inheritance which he predestines to his children. Nor is it possible to tolerate the petulance of men, in refusing to be restrained by the word of God, in regard to his incomprehensible counsel, which even angels adore.
Calvin's argument seems to be based on emotive rhetoric and what computer science people call spaghetti logic.

I like to invite modern-day Calvin scholars to express themselves in my subreddit according to its rules.

A 16-year-old student allegedly shot and killed a 15-year-old boy during an altercation in the boys’ bathroom at Joppatowne High School in Joppa, Maryland, on Friday, according to Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler. The suspect has been arrested.

The victim, identified as Warren Curtis Grant, was quickly attended to by fellow students, school nurses and the principal after being removed from the bathroom, Gahler told reporters at a news conference.

Gahler said that the student was airlifted to a trauma center, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival.

How I Became a Critic of Guns

In the mid 1970’s I was living in Ft. Lauderdale and working in a water plant. Our power company was Florida Power and Light (now Florida Power), and FPL workers went on strike. As part of the strike, union activists started shooting the power lines down. Neighborhoods were struck with sporadic power outages for this reason. I don’t have this on videotape, but it looks like union activists were firing high powered rifles into the air in populated areas. I don’t know how many shots you have to fire to bring a power line down, especially after dark. After all, they don’t want to get caught doing it. What goes up must come down, so it may be pure luck no one was hurt.

When the strike was settled, the union demanded that no one be prosecuted for shooting down power lines. Florida Power and Light agreed to this. I don’t see how the union can even be allowed to make such a demand. I thought that union activists shooting at power lines should be prosecuted to the limit of the law.

I was working in a water plant and we were trying to keep the water flowing. People shooting the power lines down certainly weren’t helping us.

I don’t know if anything like this has happened anywhere else in the country. The media doesn’t always help us keep track of things that are important. This series of events helped to convince me that widespread ownership of guns in modern America is making life worse for the average citizen. It certainly makes life more dangerous. We can’t assume that the people who own guns are going to be reasonable or responsible. This is true even when they aren’t exactly criminals in the usual sense of the word.

Just downloaded some Anglican Documents

Hello folks. As a Catholic, the Anglican church is fascinating, and I know very little about it, except that the Anglicans are the closest brethren to Catholics, and have beautiful church interiors. So, today, I am downloading some Anglican theology onto my computer for the artificial intelligence to learn. Do you guys have any more theologians or documents that you recommend? I might install a 3rd document into the AI, so it has enough data, but two should do the trick.

Here are the documents:

1. An Outline of Anglican Life: https://anglicanministries.org/wp-content/uploads/An-Outline-of-an-Anglican-Life.pdf
2. Book of Common Prayer (shared between Episcopal and Anglican, already downloaded in July): https://www.episcopalchurch.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2021/02/book-of-common-prayer-2006.pdf

Sight and Sound Theater

As anyone ever been to Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster, Pennsylvania or Branson, Missouri? They are known to put on Bible stories and turn them into musical, in somewhat style of Broadway.

I've seen Joseph some years ago. This Labor Day weekend, I went to see Daniel at the cinemas, which was beyond incredible.

The shows playing right now are Esther in Branson and Daniel in Lancaster. This coming Christmas, The Miracle of Christmas will be playing. Then the next year, Noah will be in Lancaster and David will be in Branson.

You can even stream Sight and Sound shows from the comfort of your own home.

So Sight and Sound is actually worth checking out.

Laundry?

A few years ago I had to deal with doing laundry when my washer broke. I couldn't afford to fix it because I live in the middle nowhere and everything cost more to get someone to come out here. So, I had to deal with doing it all by hand for about 4 months while I saved up enough money to get it fixed. I tried the good old scrubbing it with my hands and even on a washboard and got blisters then calluses on my knuckles. That was unpleasant to say the least. LOL So I researched and found the 5gallon bucket method, tweaked it a bit and made a pretty decent system. (I will post a pic I created of it below) I am waiting on yet another part to come in for my washer and have been having to do it by hand...again. So I figured I would post this so others laundry can be easier in case of power loss or some other reason you can't use the washer. ( Use laundry soap sparingly so rinsing is easier)

Why Kamala’s Campaign Is Spiraling Into Desperation Mode

There are a lot of ways you can tell that a political campaign is in trouble. Of course you can look at the polls, and the various models that aggregate those polls. And right now the models do not look good for Kamala Harris. Right now, for example, Nate Silver’s model gives Donald Trump a 60% chance of winning, with a projected 277 electoral votes.

'I do the weave'

Sounds like an exciting new dance step from Donald.

Judge delays Trump hush money sentencing until after election

Judge Merchan delays Trump's sentencing to Nov. 26.

NEW YORK, Sept 6 (Reuters) - A New York judge on Friday delayed former U.S. President Donald Trump's sentencing in his hush money criminal case until after the Nov. 5 election, writing that he wants to avoid the unwarranted perception of a political motive.

No big surprise in my opinion.

Tenet Media Firm Abruptly Folds After Russia Scheme Exposed

Pro- Trump Tenet Media is no more. The Pro-Trump Russian bot farm network folded Thursday night, just one day after the Department of Justice unsealed an indictment accusing it of being funded by Russian state-controlled media.

Apparently not.

Was Noah & Co Benevolent Giants (very tall people)

There is a legend about the birth of Noah

THE BIRTH OF NOAH

Methuselah took a wife for his son Lamech, and she bore him a man child.

The body of the babe was white as snow and red as a blooming rose, and the hair of his head and his long locks were white as wool, and his eyes like the rays of the sun.

When he opened his eyes, he lighted up the whole house, like the sun, and the whole house was very full of light.

And when he was taken from the hand of the midwife, he opened his mouth and praised the Lord of righteousness.

His father Lamech was afraid of him, and fled, and came to his own father Methuselah. And he said to him: "I have begotten a strange son; he is not like a human being, but resembles the children of the angels of heaven, and his nature is different, and he is not like us, and his eyes are as the rays of the sun, and his countenance is glorious.

And it seems to me that he is not sprung from me, but from the angels, and I fear that in his days a wonder may be wrought on the earth.
And now, my father, I am here to petition thee and implore thee, that thou mayest go to Enoch, our father, and learn from him the truth, for his dwelling place is among the angels."

And when Methuselah heard the words of his son, he went to Enoch, to the ends of the earth, and he cried aloud, and Enoch heard his voice, and appeared before him, and asked him the reason of his coming.

Methuselah told him the cause of his anxiety, and requested him to make the truth known to him. Enoch answered, and said: "The Lord will do a new thing in the earth. There will come a great destruction on the earth, and a deluge for one year. This son who is born unto thee will be left on the earth, and his three children will be saved with him, when all mankind that are on the earth shall die.

And there will be a great punishment on the earth, and the earth will be cleansed from all impurity. And now make known to thy son Lamech that he who was born is in truth his son, and call his name Noah, for he will be left to you, and he and his children will be saved from the destruction which will come upon the earth." When Methuselah had heard the words of his father, who showed him all the secret things, he returned home, and he called the child Noah, for he would cause the earth to rejoice in compensation for all destruction.

And in the book 'AN HISTORICAL TREATISE OF THE TRAVELS OF NOAH INTO Europe' it suggests that Noah was a Benevolent Giant (very tall ), this would also explain Tartaria and their buidings as in the book it also mentions that Noah & his sons were in Tartaria.

When Was the Tomb of Jesus REALLY Discovered, National Geographic Magazine

Something from Nat Geo popped up on my phone, an ad to subscribe to the magazine. By subscribing, you supposedly get this article.
I remember the whole controversy over the Talpiot tomb years ago where Simcha Jacobovici (sp) claimed Jesus empty Tomb was found. Is anyone familiar with this new article? Are they writing about the Talpiot tomb or is this supposedly another one?
Could this be Jesus’ Tomb and will Christianity crumble?
